From the "In Testing" page:

# Pets
# Added additional checks for invalid pets. Invalid pets (stats out of acceptable range, incorrect level for stats, etc) will not be able to called from the Datapad.

They said this last time, they didn't plug all of the holes. I doubt that it'll be fixed totally this time. Oh... and I'd just like to take this optiunity to point a few things out.

#1. We have recieved nothing on these forums nor any official comments that the current pets were STILL invalid so don't use the lack of an offical statement to mean you're not breaking the system.

#2. This is the second time this has happened so don't be surprized if you can still make invalid pets after this

#3. I told you so.

Yeah so go ahead and one star me if you can't bear me in smug git mode, fact is that we've been beating you people who deny that these pets are unfair since the last patch and for the second time the devs are trying to stop them from happening. Once again, just because you can make them doesn't mean you should. This would be a good time to offer your customers a replacement if you told them a soon-to-be invalid pet. Typical limitations for a non-ch pet is 3000/2000/1000, try to keep to around those figures and you won't go far wrong.

You know, Tal-N, I agreed with you the first time and was right out there leading that charge. But now it is coming off not as "there is a bug and it must be squashed", but as "we don't know what we are doing and can't decide how good these things are." I find players that made good creatures after this was supposedly fixed (twice, in fact, with the second time supposedly getting it right) far less culpable than those that were making the obvious exploits that were damaging everyone's business.

This kind of crap is why SWG has developed a solid reputation as a beta test completely out of control.

In response to Tal-N's post:

#1 - What? We don't have any official word so don't use the fact that we don't have anything as excuse? Who's making excuses? I'll tell you who should be - Sony.

#2 - Agree with you here. There will be another hole to find.

#3- Did you really think you needed to tell anyone that a 9k/4k/4k pet would be addressed? C'mon now...NOBODY ever said these were fair.

How do you know 3000/2000/1000 is typical? And what/how manyresists are allowed? Specials ok? What damage is acceptable?

Tal-N, the fact is that you don't know squat about what the developers think is ok any more than we do. All we know is that the current high end CL10s are going to be addressed. You posted a quick recipe for CL10 pets (some or allof which, I might add, may be turned invalid by this patch) and you are *guessing* like the rest of us what the limit is going to be.

The highest CL10 in the wild on SWGCraft is 1800 HAM and no resists. Thus, to *really* be on the safe side, we should craftpets like this.

How about shutting your pie hole until the patch comes out? Then you can at least post based on facts and not your own conjecture. The only surprising thing in your post is that you didn't start it with "Talthazar and I talked for a long time last night and...."

All I know is that in addition to the invalid pet fix, they better tell us what the new limits are. My prediciton is that this won't just affect CL10 pets.

On the other points I can quote many people who have used the argument that we have no official word on if they were illegal after the last patch and several instances of people saying that these stats for pets are fair. You don't have to look far to find them either so if you don't believe me go have a look. As for how do i know that 3000/2000/1000 is fair? Because those are typical-ish stats for a wild CL15 critter. More like 2000/2000/2000 if you compare them with wild ones actually.

I still want to see what happens to the Bio Engineers if Droids are alot stronger than either NON CH BE pets or tamed Pets by CHs. If so, then they will cease to make pets for sure. I know my master CH cant sell a level 10 pet at all. Noone wants them. Next they will only want Droids.

Every time SOE makes a change, then everyone jumps to that skill to get the best and it will happen again.

THIS IS NO WAY to Balance the game.

Anyone want to take bets that they nerf the NON Chs and leave the droids at a higher level?

TAL, I do hope in all of your input with SOE, you have at least made them aware of this small fact.

Just made this, received an invalid message (and the suggestion to use the pet trade in system) when trying to call from the datapad.
Kaadu skin
DL 0 (5)
Vitality 100/100
Health 22 (229)
Action 13 (139)
Mind 15 (157)
Armor none
Kinetic 0
Heat/Cold/Electricity 5
Blast/Acid/Stun Vulnerable
Attack speed 2.18
To hit .21
Damage 5-10 (30-40)
Crippling strike
Mild poison
No ranged attack

This was made with NO experimentation on the template, using 'yard trash' DNA (nightspiders, flesh eating chuba, maybe a frail squall, from right up against the buildings of Narmle on Rori. No 'real' critters were used in this experiment).

(EDIT: Ah, a note: this is under Live publish 6, no relation to publish 7 or Test Center... mostly put it here as an example of how we're already screwt at seemingly random, and because I couldn't believe my eyes when the messages came up.)

Great point about the BE/Droid situation.

I agree with you that they are going to give Droid Engineers a lot of love in the next publish and one thing I hope they remember is that it takes lots of skill credits to use a useful creature. It takes squat to control a droid or one of our non-CH creations. If they are going to balance things, they need to make non-CH pets and combat droids equivalent. Actually, I would be ok if droids were a little stronger considering how they eat batteries and can't be healed.

On the other hand, my spider sense (force power?) is teling me that DEs will get to create a combat droid like we saw in episode 1. That thing tanked two jedis (ok a knight and a padawan) to a stalemate. I have no problem with this as long as it's not at our expense.

Get the picture?

For a company that makes such good electronics, you would think it would crossover into gaming...

Brilliant. Hell, if they can't even figure out how to properly CL a creature, I'm beginning to wonder how they're going to provide us with documentation. I'm beginning to think a reversion to the previous cloning system would do us more good than this ongoing uncertainty.

This is not an issue caused by the players.

This is the result of Shoddy Work by the BE developers/engineers.

This is the result of "I think a 90% complete job is acceptable".

This is the result of "SHODDY WORK IS ACCEPTABLE" mentality at SOE.

Where is the pride of a job 100% done? That is something that don't exist. It is so sad the bar SOE developers set for themselves isso bloody f#%#ing low.
