If you don't have at least Novice Creature Handling, you can't have a pet. Sorry!

There have been lots of suggestions floating around about letting non-CHers have small pets that wouldn't have the full abilities of a pet in the hands of a creature handler, but it's just that so far - suggestions. Who knows if it'll get put in in any way.

its somewhat true that you cannot have pets. When BE's create pets they are created as an inventory item and must be tamed from that. They can trade these pre-tamed item versions of pets to anyone. If you drop these item versions in your house they act just like furnature and can be positioned anywhere and they will stand there and do their animations every so often. Everyone should have a rancor in their basement. We cant make a durni tho. But if you ever decide to take CH you can alwayse pick it back up and tame it.

Be warned, it is a total pain in the arse to create very high quality pets. You have to search for good quality meats of a certain type (alot of them) and get tons of flora. Also to get good dna you have to actually create 5 dummy pets to sample from. So you have to actually create 6 pets to get 1 high quality one. Expect to pay dearly for this.

so far on radiant i've been tryig to sell novice lvl critters for 3000 and first lvl clone critters for 6000. not much luck as there are few CH's around. actually i've sold more creatures to non CH's (and had to refund money) than anything else everybody wants a pet.

People who are charging 10k for Dewbacks are out of their minds, even during beta I never charged anywhere near that much. There's a very simple formula for getting reasonable prices. Take a look at the HAM pools and that gives you a base line for the minimum cost of the pet. Thus 2000 HAM is 2000 credits, now you modifiy it for the cost of atually making it, if the resources needed are exceptionally high (higher than what it'd cost to sell them by themselves) then you compare it with the cost of the pet and add enough to cover the cost of the materials as well. So if you have 100 meat and 50 food thats a credit value of around 650 credits, if the cost of the pet is under 450c then you add enough to cover it. But frankly the cost of the resources is usually under the value of the pet itself.

If you're on Ahazi and someone is charging more than 6k for pets them come to see me on Ahazi, nothing i have costs more than that at the moment and my bussiness partner is already making clone engineering2 pets.

I haven't sold any on Kauri, my house is near a dying city, and I've only seen two CHes.

So this professions is kind of dead end for me.

Maybe if I change my house name to Kygin Labs and remove the furniture to be replaced with plants and creatures they will sell.

How do you decide how much to sell your pets for? Is there a formula? I dont want to over price or under price my pets. Thanks for help.

Since meat is so ungodly priced ... I'm going to charge based on how much the meat cost me, how much the ticket to the planet I am using the dna from cost me, how many times I died and had to insure while getting said dna, and how much the pet level turns out to be. I will then divide by how much dna I got while on the planet ... say I got 10 dna samples from the rancor but I died like 4 times .... and it costs me about 4K to insure each time .... you get the picture.

This is my formula ... take it or leave it but it seems to be a good place to start

I charge an hourly rate based on how much money I could make running missions as an elite combat profession. On the low end I can make 60k/hour running missions. Since it takes about an hour combined to make one creature, I have a base rate of 60k credits. Then I add on charges for the creature's unique attributes, like armor or disease, etc.

At the minimum I charge 60k, at the maximum I charge 120k.

An hourly rate based on how much you can make running missions seems to me the fairest way to price things. Afterall, your time should be worth the same as the person grinding missions all day long.
