Thread: Pet prices?
Well, I took a stab at a spreadsheet trying to break down all (or at least most) of the particulars that I thought might be important, HAMs, resists, non-ch useable bonus (if it's over 2k average hams) armor - etc.
If you have excel - you are welcome to play with and critique it - www.swgbio.com/petpricing.xls
It may be way way off - but I've not had very much in the way of negative feedback either here - or in my shop where I'm using this formula from customers.
Some think damage should be added, a few didn't think specials were worth charging for - others thought they definately were - YMMV. Fairly straightforward if you wanted to save a local copy and add or delete or change mulitpliers or charges.

"Now these are all good formula's for Master BEs who can make and sample high lvl creatures. What about us BEs that just started. I'm 1-1-1-0 about to be 2-1-2-0 with in the next couple of days. I usually make creatures (bagersets or dewbacks) that have two speials, ave. 4000-5000 HAM and nothing higher then lvl 17 so far. What would I charge for something like that?"
Here's the thing ryan. You dont charge. When I was a Novice weaponsmith I couldnt sell my crappy weapons. It goes like that with every crafting profession.
Im going to say it again. You got to level first. When youve got 6-7 experimentation points and are 4-5 boxes from master, then you can start making decent stuff. Until then, sample those newbie mobs ad-nauseum til you level up.
The prices are based on a few simple facts.
If its a good pet, then people will pay.
If itsgarbage, no one will pay.
Prices will go up or down depending on how manyBEs on your server have a "holier than tho" attitude and wont make good pets becauseof whats going around in this forum.
If you dont give the customer what he wants, youre not getting paid. Its that simple.
Now... who wants to get paid?
For pricing my pets I try to use the Creature handler pricing- well... sorta you see, lets say you made a great new merek at CL 45, I would charge about 1k per CL, as this is what MCH do as well- the MCH's still come to your vendor tho because you can make a superior pet, so they buy the cl 45 for 45k and then resell it at 55k+ because its a resonable mark-up, (neat specials, or armor on a graul, ect) and its not like they had to goto endor to get it ya know-

I do agree that its ok to charge way more for an exceptional pet, like lvl 65-70 kimos, or a very nice non ch [which i wouldnt sell for 10k anyways unless i was broke or crazy
]
but everyone makes there own call- pricing is based on what you really think its worth . I dont mind dying from sampling and i have a few pets to back me up so i dont die as much as i should, so its not a big deal to me- and it keeps you competitive, or you could always walk up to a master CH and ask there opinion on what you have made too..... hope this helps some.

Pets are 100% effort now, the resources for them in terms of meat and flora have no bearing on success rates or quality. So that just leaves the dna which we gather ourselves. That means it just comes down to what you think your time is worth or the whole supply and demand method where you try to get a much as possible. Me personally, i sold 2 pets today to someone who was with me on Dathomir. He literally saw the process needed to make clones, he saw me trying for almost 2 hours to get enough Mutant rancor samples. So he more than most know the kind of effort needed, at the end of it all he purchased a CL55 i had already prepared for 110k and a CL66 for 190k. I even had to lower the price a bit because he didn't have enough cash for the CL66 one. So here you had someone spending all of their money, knowing full well the kind of effort needed and they considered that fair.
Someone else might not have so it goes to show you can't justify any pricing scheme now at all. Just go with what you want.
Pricing is a tough one. For low level pets and non-ch pets of non-exceptional quality I usually charge 1k per cl.
Circumstances pop up once in awhile like a good combine, a good 2nd generation non-ch clone, etc. I used my discretion.
In a profession who's outcome are as randomized as ours, a stable and consistant pricing scheme is almost impossible to achieve.
As a newb, flogging Kaadu on the baazar is a prettysteady source of income and saves you standing around spamming starports. If you sell pets on the baazar, never sell for less than the full 3k the baazar allows.
If you want to try selling for more, I use the same system as the 60k guy, though Idid the missionsmyself and based it off how much I made. Always factor in costs as well (tickets, bike decay, insurance, etc). Keep in mind though that people probably wont pay as much for a <MBE pet, so factor that in as well.
And as was pointed out, a really good pet will sell for more, a bad pet won't sell at all (except through the baazar. As long as it's mountable 3k is a bargain in anyones book
)
I'm on Flurry, only 2-2-4-2 atm, and selling my creations from about 20k - 65k thus far, and the 65k range is usually something mid CL around 35ish, and light armor with 60 kinetic/energy and atleast mediocre resists for rest, and atleast one good special. I have made some accidental crap creatures, which I put up for around 9k or so, especially if they're like CL 20 something with maybe 30-40 kinetic, but no energy, or ESPECIALLY vulnerable kinetic, although I sometimes just want to destroy those, but I put them up, hoping someone will buy them, although I understand no one wants crap atm. I was wondering if I might be lowballing myself. Seeing some of these prices posted, although I get a ton of business, already over 1 million so far in about 2 weeks. I have mainly cupas and gurrcats on my vendor, although I did make a couple super durnis with CL 35 light armor and 60 kinetic/enery with 10k HAM. I was almost tempted to raise those up to about 70k for them, but I really don't want to scare customers away too much.
Are there also any BE/Ranger combos here? Just curious how they're doing. I also looked around and was curious if anyone can sample kimo's / krayts atm. I mainly hear about rancors, etc, but never those other big guys.

Given the recent changes in how CH xp is derived, you can make back some of your costs by selling garbage pets cheap. Training and destroying pets can be a quick way to level in the upper reaches of the CH tree.
so far my prices have been from 60k to 100k
I have yet to charge higher but if I happen to come across the correct balance to make a high level gurrek, w/ ranged disease/poison light armor, high resistance and great ham sure I will charge more for that. But I make them as they come and have yet to make one so good. Customers arent complaining and recomending ppl to my vendors so I must be doing something right. They love my stat clothes LOL. That I take my pride in. =) My pets are my pass time really. Stat clothing is my priority. I been experimenting w/ pet stims lately also and managed to get a decent batch. But I have to get a doctor to make certain schematics for me since I dont have the experimentation rate for the medical components and havent found anyone who sells those.
