Hello,

I was wondering if someone could explain what armors are/will be available from Armorsmiths. Also, how do these armor sets differ in protection, quality, etc.

Thanks,

Currently on Intrepid : I have Bone and mabari, and will have chitin sometime soon.

other servers will vary. armor classes

Bone, mabari, chitin, composite ... I might have missed one or two can't remember.

Bone is the weakest ... composite the best. others know more, but this is at least an answer

I'm currious about this also. If you look at the details of the armor, wearingit "encumbers" your HAM stats. I'm assuming this means it lowers these stats by the number listed on the armor. I guess this is why people say you heal faster with your armor off. So, when I'm solo scout/medic/marksman I wear full armor because I usually take some hits and the armor reduces my damage taken greatly. However, when I am the healer in a group I wear just clothes because my mind bar regenerates faster and I'm usually not taking damage anyway.

What I'm currious about are the different types of armor and damage. My buddy is a brawler and got armor that prevents kinetic damage which I guess are physical blows, teeth, claws... What other types of damage are there? What armor is best for what damage and what profession or race restrictions are there on different types of armor. For instance I won an auction for a really nice Tantel helmet (the one Lando wore while infiltrating Jaba's lair in Return of the Jedi) but couldn't equip it...

There is a couple reasons you may not be noticing any differences when you are wearing your bone armor. I'm not an armorsmith but this is what I have noticed while playing....

1. If you switch your chat view to combat it will show you what is actually taking place in the battle. Thats where it will say "Right bracer blocks attack and prevents 82 damage" (not exact words but something to that effect. If you aren't in the combat chat view it won't show you the damage that you are blocking...

2. This is probably the more important one...I think all of the Bone Armor I have seen does not block kinetic damage. They only block energy damage. This means that if you are fighting any animals (cant think of any off the top of my head real quick that would do energy anyhow) then the armor won't really help all that much. If you get into a firefight with some thug with a gun though, you should see the armor blocking some of the damage.

Like I said before, I'm not an expert on armor...still trying to figure out (like almost everyone else) how it works exactlly...

Does anyone know if Personal Deflector Shields can be combined with other kinds of armor, either to make up for a lack of protection or boost or overlap protection in any particular area?

Go ask this on the Armorsmith forum. We're grunts here, we're only interested in offense and not defense

In otherwords, I have no idea

Armor protects against certain types of damage listed in its description. The reason you probably haven't noticed anything with you bone armor is likely that you've been fighting creatures in melee that do kinetic damage and bone has no kinetic resistance. Bone is more useful agains energy attacks.

It's its own armor - it can be used in addition to armor.

What is the benifit of armor? I seem to do just as well without armor and my stats are shot to hell. I have full chitin but my stats are shot to hell after putting it on and I can't even wear the gloves because I don't have enough "health" What does all this mean or are they fixing this stuff. I'm very confused so any clarification would be great =) Thank you in advance for your input.

chances are that you have a really bad set of Chitin armor or your Chitin armor is at 0 condition (thus doesn't work) If you examin your armor you can see the stats that it has... My stuff has aprox 16-24% kenetic resistances and 7%-10% on the rest of them (energy and other stuff). When you are first able to make chitin armor it usually doesn't go past about 8% resistances for kenetic and 6% for energy and the others.

Hope this helps you.

Actually the armor does benefit you in combat, check the combat bar of the chat window and you will see that you are absorbing damage. And that chitin does not have to be poor for you to have a problem wearing it. Many characters who weararmor of the higher varieties have to use stat migration to adjust their strength so that they can wear the armor. Each armor hits your stats but some characters, such as the fighter types withlarge health pools, can take the hit and still wear the whole suit just fine. Some characters like crafters and medics may need to readjust their stats if they want to wear high armor.
