Just wanted to vent for a second. I am at 4/4/2/4 and DNA Sampling has got to be one of the worst types of XP to get. For those who haved tried it, it goes like this:

Imagine going up a whole tree of CH only Taming Creatures without training them for more XP. That is DNA Sampling. You fail 10 times in a row before you succeed. Sometime the creatures get pissed and attack you.

Investigation is the only other XP that is probably just as bad.

Why did my Holocron have to tell me Bio-Engineer? :-) I can't wait to untrain it!

I'm there too (now 4/4/3/4) and getting that 3rd DNA box has to be the worst!

Weirdly, getting the 4th. box seems to be much easier - you fail less and the critters don't aggro or drop dead as much. It's still slow,, but check out the other threads on this forum for what MoBs give what XP. Don't go for the 'ultra-XP' mobs (they'll aggro fail more), but try and find the mob that gives the best XP per muon gold (I've found mutant Kumarra's are good in this category).

whats the creature that gives the most XP for dna sampling? thats not agro.

I'm sure you had so much fun grinding out all the Bio Nutrient supplements you needed as well!

If you don't like it give up the holocron chase and go do something you might enjoy doing. Its a game, go out there and have fun!!!

Coming into someones profession forum and telling them how much you think their chosen profession sucks is incredibly rude! For the record most REAL Bio Engineers finish the DNA Sampling line long before any others. I think I'd finished mine before I even got level 1 in the other three trees.

Now to get you out of our forum go sample Piket Longhorns on Dantooine.

Although personally I think it would be better if you went and sampled Enraged Bull Rancors on Dathomir!

heh, I'm doing BE cuz I *want* to do it, not cuz a blue cube told me to. Though DNA sampling is hard XP to get, I'm doing my best to work on it, I sampled huurtons for 3 hours yesterday to get all the xp for sampling 2.

What's keeping me going at DNA sampling is thinking about how much fun it'll be to have master BE, and after the patch!

Yup Yup Bio eng. there are so few of us no one hears our cries.

DNA sample was the first oneI finished too.

I hit level 3 DNA Sampling and your right. It is getting easier to do. I seem to fail less. I can see where some of you would rather do DNA Sampling before crafting. At leastyou canrun around instead of sitting in one spot crafting, but I'll take crafting any day over Sampling.

I do respect the people who like being a Bio-Engineer. Too bad there are only 2 creatures that are any good for fighting. The Gurreck is nice and so is the Kimogila(although you can't you it.). So there is really only 1 pet worth anything. I guess you could make mountable creatures, but who doesn't have a mount yet.

I can see where this profession could be awesome. Right now it is just so so. Tissues for clothesare cool, but creatures suck and DNA Sampling is one of the hardest XP to Master.

I recently master BE because i wanted to, and i agree DNA sampling is the worst! I had 4,4,0,4 before i started DNA sampling....

I enjoyed sampling, guess im crazy. Then again i did it before the tie in with clvl. hehe

Seriously though I thought it was a blast, got to impress all my commando friends by killing things faster than they ever could. Made a few credits by taking missions and sample killing them. Got the thrill of the occasional sample that didnt kill the creature of me. Sampling is one of those things, if you grind it, it is a GRIND, so dont grind. Have fun with it.

Yeah, I finished Sampling as well.. It's easy, and kind of fun. In the early days, there was a larger chance that a DNA sample would result in creature death if it was higher-level than you could easily sample, there was no decay, and the sampling XP for going way-above-level was excellent, so.. I'd go out with a CH friend of mine hunting large mobs (fambaas, rancors, tortons -- that kind of thing). I'd ''Thin the Herd'' with DNA sampling, and then we'd kill and harvest the rest.

The part of BE I hate (BE being my chosen profession) is the repetitive crafting.. In order to get up near master, I even resorted to grinding -- something I once thought I'd never do. :-( DNA Sampling is so easay that I sacrificed Sampling 4 recently to pick up Merchant -- I had so much extra sampling XP that I can just buy it again as soon as I'm done with Merchant.

I found sampling to be a piece of cake compared to the micronutrient grind. It took me maybe 8 hours total to get the sampling done and it was loads more fun than the crafting xp.

The hardest thing for me was getting the AP once I hit 4/4/4/4 though. It took about a week to get the last 200 points. There weren't a lot of people asking for CH or BE training at the time. I imagine there are a bunch now though. Notice how many Novice BE's and Master Artisans that have popped up lately?

To holocron bio-engineers lets just point something out here, your not part of the profession because you wanted to do it. Your here because a little box to you to master it, therefore those people who actually care about the profession don't give a rats ass if you have a complaint cause we know your just using the profession to get to being a Jedi. Once you actually care about the profession then we'll care about your opinion.

As for sampling exp, it's fine. This is an elite profession so they aren't supposed to be mastered within a month of grinding unless your totally hardcore.
