Thread: Farewell
Well, farewell Rangers.
My disappointment with SOE and SWG has led me delete my character and cancel my subscription.
Hope things improve for those of you willing to stick through the years of misery.
Take care.
I read this same crap about EQ when it first came out (SWG is 3 months old). Perhaps in a couple of years when you come back (or if you get a job as a developer) you can image the millions & millions of lines of code and make the perfect game. Hate to see another Ranger depart, but fair thee well friend.
I have been a programmer for 8 years and I know all about what it takes to fix bugs, etc. I also know that SOE has absolutely no idea how to prioritize fixes.
The bottom line is that SWG has no content and was released long before it should have been.
At least until Middle Earth Online goes live.
REAL RANGERS!

SirCaleb,
I meant no disrespect towards you nor am I challenging your ability to write code. However, having been in the gaming world for the past 20 years now, I realize that there is a LOT of things that players wish to happen that have to take a back seat to other areas. It is a true and stated fact that SWG was released early and is full of bugs. The game was already delayed 1 year from its original intended release date. Correct me if I'm wrong but, If this game is anything like EQ, then SOE isn't coding it...Verant codes for EQ as LucasArts codes for SWG. SOE owns the rights to present the game.
Anyhow, long story short I still hate to see a Ranger leave. We are a noble organization full of good people. Perhaps we shall see you again in the near or distant future.
Fair winds and following seas SirCaleb~
"Verant codes for EQ as LucasArts codes for SWG. SOE owns the rights to present the game"
I believe the breakdown is:
- SOE is the publisher (distributor of the game and owner of the backbone)
- LucasArts is the License holder (must sign off on all concepts, and keeps the game Star Warsy)
- Verant are the Developers (designers, art producers, and coders)

NRaas - am I seeing this correct? Verant is the coders for SWG also?!?!
"Verant is the coders for SWG also?!?!"
That is correct. The bulk of the work is being done by people employed by Verant.
Verant, however, is a wholly owneddivisionof Sony Online Entertainment.
So you can say that SOE is the publisher and developer, and you would still be correct. ![]()
Was this a HOPE? or do you know of a Middle earth online sometime in the future?
Oh Crap, there goes the 2 free hours i had every week.
*DAng why can't we get an Edit key?
Xenothalus, Do you know something we dont? or I dont I should say.
