Thread: Farewell
Middle Earth Online has been in "production" for awhile now.
It became "vaporware" in its previous incarnation with Sierra, but it may actually get up an off the ground now that Vivendi Universal has picked it up.
They have a site out there somewhere, but I haven't been to it in a long while now. I know that they had some pretty impressive screenshots.
Also, I now fully understand "mmorpg-addiction." As annoying as SWG is, if I don't get my "fix" in a day, I feel bad. Even if it's only to login and see if friends are on, hang out in a cantina for a bit, or whatever.
If MEO is good, my freetime is doomed.
Here is what my chief gripe is with people deleting and running off to another game.
The SWG that we have now is buggy. Yet we are seeing changes weekly, if not daily. It keeps getting better. More and more is coming. As for content, this is an RPG. They supplied the environment, we supply the RP.
I have been a founding member of a player city that is now over 100 people strong. I actually had to take time away from the town and our local goings on to dedicate the time to Master Ranger. I did this since my character is a ranger. RP'ng someone who was less than my bio states is a half way job.
I have found NO LACK of content. While some aspects of the game are flat, broken, or buggy, the best content in any online game is the community interaction.
Call me old fashioned... I play console games, and was on some of the old skool MUDS, Northern Crossroads and Mystik Isles. SWG provides a much more immersive environment, but the content is about the same. Kill stuff, level up, make money. Get your character where you want it, and then relax. Have fun with the community. Make a new friend...or 12 or 15. Once you do, the RP and the Content takes over.
Too easy for you once you've maxed out your skill codes? Try using less UBER equipment. Take on Krayts without a pet. Get groups togethor to explore the far reaches of the galaxy. See. Do. Be.
While I wouldn't mind SWG adding MORE content and what not, I haven't seen half of the locations we've only read about or seen in movies. I play 3 hours a day most days, more on weekends.
Not to mention the holy grail...the Force sensitive slot. Have you people already forgotten that the devssaid it could take between 3 months and a year to open this up?
I don't know about you, butI can only imagine where this game could be in a month,3 months and a year from now. I wanna be here for the ride. Good and Bad, its gonna happen.
If something is a severe exploit or imbalance, expect them to nerf it. If something is severely underpowered, (as the ranger was originally) expect them to fix it - eventually.
If you are the type totakeadvantage of something that gives a ton of money or exp withno work, don't whine when they take it away... You got away with using an exploit. Thank the devs for not rolling you back and taking away your gains from it.
If you are like me, I avoid the obvious ones...ie I stuck with Ranger, rather than jumping on the BH bandwagon. Sure BH would be more effective in combat, but thats not my character. Plus, considering the imbalance the BH has in PvP and PvE, I expect a downgrade any time now.
I'm hoping for the balance, enjoying the game, and waiting for the boosts that the underpowered Rangers need and deserve.
Hope you enjoy game hopping. Hopefully someday the perfect game will come out for you.

oh well bubye.. dont let the door hit u in the arse on the way out.. one less person to compete with in the hide market...
and as for this game?... ill play it untill MEO comes out =D sry mr.George Lucas but LOTR pwnz starwars =/ to a degree at least.. put a couple of jedi in LOTR and u got something.. very odd but very kewl at the same time
that and i just like the fantasy aspect more then sci fi =/
You weren't good to me.
Investigation makes me no better a player then anyone else.
Carbines are suicide machines.
Pistols give no such bonuses like we see in techniques.
LLC isn't bad, but who wants to get 17m away, hit for half the damage then be 1 hit by a heavy axe.
I am going up Heavy Swordsman, Pistoleer (the new defenses are irresistable), CH and Medic.
Its already great and i am only working on Novice Heavy Swordsman.
I say fare the well to you aspiring bh's but i am going down the samurai's road.
Very soon, my Ranger skills will be no more. After aspiring to be a Ranger since the beginning of my existence on SWG, I made master ranger about a month and a half ago. Now I feel the need to explore different professions. Good luck to all you rangers out there.
