Thread: Tissues cost too much?
I had a Master Tailor say that my 16/16 active biosensors cost too much at 3200 credits and she was not going to pay it. She said she could buy these tissues for 500.
I just said, "if you can buy tissues like these for 500 credits, you would be nuts not to".
If I had to sell those for 500 to sell them, I would quit selling them. hehe. What and incredible resource destroying method.
When the patch first came through, I sold the above tissue for 1600, but noticed that I had more orders than I had product and I could not afford to replace with that quality for that price easily. I decided, if I can not get the price, I will become a pet and pet stim salesman.
Why does every reliable BE that sells tissues for a more than fair price (3200) live on a different server than me?!
I've placed orders with five different master BE's on my server with promises of delivery since the patch and i've seen nothing. Not one tissue has come my way from these people. I understand that there are resource problems and lots of orders to fill, but i've been really patient about this. Three days ago I decided to send reminder orders via email to these masters. I've gotten two responses. One said that i was one their "to do" list and the other said that his prices have more than doubled. The best price i could get on any tissue with +11 or better mods was 5.5k per. All of them told me I had to by in crates as well. I can understand that on one hand, but on the other, as an independant master tailor with no guild or sugar daddy backing me, the intial cost is pretty steep. Doubling that cost would likely put me out of biz.
I've decided not to sell bio enhanced clothing as a result. I don't make my customer's beg for my product and I don't really enjoy begging for anyone else's product either. I've purchased a second account and i'm going to skill that character in BE to get the tissues I require. It's going to take a while, but at least i know i can count on me to deliver. It's sad really that I have to do this. it only makes novice BE's miss out on customer's as they advance due to tailors taking up BE themselves. So when I see posts like this where reliable and reasonable BE's are out there and willing to work with tailors it gives me a little hope. I think that you are selling at a remarkable price myself, and i've certainly shopped around to know.
The time, resources, cost of training to make the tissues all add up. Some of the tissues are completely pointless to make because 1; the resources are insane (fish, mollusks, milk) and 2; the tailors can't afford to buy them. Trying getting enough of those items to make just one factory run.
A BE that is selling +16 tissues for 500 credits is a fool. I would question whether the tailor was telling the truth or not.

Your master tailor doesn't know what they're on about. Indeed the tissues are sold for around 500c however they are certainly not 16/16 power by a long shot. If there are people undercutting then by all means let your tailor friend buy them from someone else, they'll just come running back to you when this other supplier runs themselves out of business and can't raise the funds to buy new materials.
Either that or they were just trying to get you to lower your prices by claiming they can get it cheaper elsewhere.
I've been buying crates of tissues (+15-16 Active Biosensors and +4/14 Tensile Resistances) for 2k each (2.5k if not in bulk). I think that's a great price compared to the other quotes I've gotten (2.5k+).
I just want to know what resources do those take, and what stats affect what so I could maybe stock up on those for BEs.
I've been struggling with this. I'd like to be more than a vet, but I can't come up with a way to price tissues that takes into account what a royal pain in the arse they are to make, and how hard I've worked to get to where I can make them.
If you want to know what resources go into which tissues, check out http://www.swgcraft.com/skilltree.php?prof=biofor the schematics. Typical experimental areas are Potential Energy, Flavor and Total Quality, so the better those stats are, the better the end product, as you know. Clothing tissues take a combination of creature and flora resources, somewhere in there one of the items being structural (bone or wood).
I dunno 'bout anyone else, but I'm seriously thinking I'll just saythat if someone wants tissues, they can hand me samples of the resources and I'll make a schematic for 500 cr per skillbox that it took to get that schematic. So if you want crates of Active BioSensors, you hand me samples of the resources you want it made from, I'll make the schematic for you for 2,500 credits and then you can have a blast with the schematic. It just looks like they'll be more of a pain than they're worth, and that's depressing. I was really looking forward to this, but if I can't get a return on the investment of spending all my playing time for a week gathering the ingredients....
I charge 2000c max for my advanced tissues as well, it's a nice figure really as it accounts for the time when you're forced to buy materials for 10c per unit plus people are more than happy to pay that amount so everyone is happy. I don't give a discount on crates cause it's hard enough to produce one full crate of tissues so I don't encourage people to buy in bulk. I like to make sure that I have something for everyone, it's unfair to allow someone to monopolise the stock. I also don't allow people to take more than a crate of 25 petstims.
ts not about money anymore, it's about helpping people.
Hi
Not being a master BE (1-3-4-4) yet i charge100 credits per point of bonus for the highest stat. so a +16/+16tissue would go for 1600. i dont make them in crates yet. I have only had a couple of people asking me for tissues.
I use what ever resources i have to make the tissues and maybe buy stuff from the bazaar if needed.
It seems fair since alot of the resources arnt that hard to come by. except of course milk and molusk
To me 2k is a nice fair price, it ensures you'll make a profit and it keeps the price reasonable to the Tailors. When I've been asked I tell them my resource cost per tissue is from 400-900. Usually for me its toward the lower end since I will admit I'm cheap and balk at people who try to charge me 10cpu on meat, haha. I have also had Tailors come to me and provide 1/2 to 3/4 or all the resources needed for their tissue orders. In this case I usually charge from 500-900/tissue depending on how much they provided to me.
Ok, maybe I am looking at this all wrong but on my server, Wanderhome, I have only found one tailor that offers clothing with BE enhancements. They charge around 10-20k for a clothing item that has one bonus depending upon the bonus they provide. For an item that has 2 bonuses they charge up to 32k. Now I know it is not because of the material cost of the item since I have been a tailor in the past and these same items are on sale now for no more than 3k. This makes me think that feel that if I sell my products as a master Bio-engineer for around 2-3k each I am just donating to the tailors bank account up to 21k if they were to pay the 3k for 2 components and use an make an item that cost 3k. Now I don't really feel good about this but I have been struggling with making credits since beginning on my path down and I can't help but feel if my products boost the price of items that much, why shouldn't I see some of the profits?
You also have to consider that if a tailor is buying "the best" (+14, +15, +16or higher tissues) and making articles of clothing that require identical synthetic cloth/rfps, they are paying for the fact that the BE either had to collect or pay a hefty amount for 900+ quality materials to make the tissues. 500-1k per stat added on an article of clothing is not too much to ask in my opinion.
It is certainly different if you are buying clothingthat offers only+5 or +6 to the stats, because those are either 1)non-Master BE tissues or 2) not made with 900+ quality resources, but once you start getting around to Spec-Op dusters, Camo Pants and *shudder* flightsuits that take multiple identical tissues, and these pieces are offering +14, +15, +16 or higher, there is a lot of $ or timeinvested by the BE incollecting the necessary resources to make those tissues and that transfers over to the Tailor who buys them.
For instance, I can make +10 enhanced tissues without batting an eye, with average quality materials, but I have a tailor that likes to sell "the best available", so we are talking 4 different materials of 900+ quality resources per tissue(specific bone, 2-3 specific types of meat, *shakes* eggs (finding 900+ quality eggs can be a real *&%$), specific flora)--to get +15 or higher, I need to have/purchase good materials. This gets expensive. This comes at a cost to me, and that cost transfers to my tailor. And my tailor has an excellent business selling his wares, because his customers know he is offering the best he can get. And they will gladly pay for the best.
