Thread: Tissues cost too much?

I concentrate on making +17 or better tissues. I usually don't bother making anything less than +17. I charge 5k per tissue (sometimes dipping to 4k a tissue on +15's or +16's). It takes a tremendous amount of effort to gather large stacks of materials to craft high plus tissues and I haven't had a problem with constantly be out of stock.

Yes, some items take multiple tissues... but the tailors I sell to just jack their price up to compensate and haven't complained at all (other than concern initially if they could sell those items for large amounts of cash).

Arthur,

I understand the way that crafting clothing works, as I started I have been a tailor the items I am talking about are things like the crafter's pants and Pocketed shorts that don't require identical Synth cloth or Improved Fiber panel's but with a master BE and the right meterials turning out 15+ bonuses on items they buy for only 2-3k thats a big profit.

Resonable1,

Man that sucks, I have put some tissues up for auction that I made during my "grind" that maxed out the next day.

Arthur you nailed it. That's the reason I dont waste my time making tissues. One, sometimes they sell sometimes they dont. Two, half the people including me dont even know if they work right, if its bugged or what half the time cause you sure as hell cant trust what the patch notes say half the time. The tissue line cept for pet stims is the biggest pile of dung ive ever seen with clone coming up very close to first. It almost pisses me off that Ispent skill points in it but then I look at classes like chef and feel better. Especially the stuff to increase food buffs, LOL, man look at the chef...it sucks as a class cause they have ignored it cause nobody plays it and they wanna give us a bunch of items to increase food buffs!?? **edit**? Make the chef a awesome buff class and then putin crap for us to make their buffs better. Only thing those items are good for is the one that gives 100 exp to make so people can level up in bio. If anybody here has ever sold a crate of food buff items, ill send you a check for a million dollars, that's how confidentI am that no one has. If it hadnt been for pet stims and the money ive made off of them, I would have dropped this dung class months ago. That last patch to fix us was a pathetic display imo. I still aggro too much, gnorts should never aggro me if I sample them, thats why I went to master bio. Then you go to a advanced planet...sample rancor.....you begin taking a dna sample........UGH!! you are hit for 550x5 damage by 5 rancors in apack! requesting clone activation. Its not rare either and not over exaggerated to aggro high level creatures right off the bat. You people that run around advanced planets sampling from level 50 creatures must have the patience of Jobe. I have no confidence that they will ever make the dna sampling a fun part of this class. They just wanna make it tedious and full of death where you spend half your time cloning or sitting in a hospital.

Anyway back to tissues, you might put a crate up there and sell it in a hour, or it might sit there a week. Even the easy ones to make like the bleeding defense are a waste of my time cause they dont sell. Like you said, they have to be in crates which means I need to hire a ranger to get me resources at 20 credits a unit or more.

I use all my time to make pet stims and pets. Pets being the latter, cause of no variety, most of them suck cept for rancors and gurrecks and I hate getting dna, spend too much time in the cloning center and not making money.Pet stims is the market and thats the one im in. Only thing I make tissues for is my friends. I've madea tonselling pet stims that I canget the resourcesfromharvestors, why would I waste my time selling tissues that require crap like domesticated meat, reptile meat, milk, mollusks, avian boneand every other out of the way resource that you have to pay 20-25 credits a piece for. Id rather pay a ranger 25 credits a piece for dathomir insect meat, something I can make some serious cash off of. The markup on tissues is close to none for the trouble. No thanks. Least pets have a good markup for their trouble.

I'm in on the Sumo camp on this. On my server at least, BE clothes are going for 1k per point and stuff is selling pretty briskly (at least with my 2 tailor customers). Now, with me selling at 300 per point, tailors are making 700 credits per point off of these items (usually in beteween 15-17). And how much do you think a plain old shirt costs to make. What 1k TOPS? And with my customers they are selling them a +15 shirt for 15k, with 5500 in costs. Guys, don't sell yourselves short on these. Tailors are making money hand over fist with these clothes.

Now I understand the issues with making clothes that require multiple items taking multiple tissues and not getting addded bonuses. But what do you want the BE community to do? I have no control of where you put my tissues, and tailoring is where most of the profit is generated. Again, on my server tailors are charging 1k per point per tissue (highest mod only), and yes they do make items that sell for 40k+ sometimes. But thats just the cost of doing business and from what I've been told, most customers understand if they want an item that takes 3 tissues, they are going to have to pay for it, and most willingly do.

I think the tailors that are complaining are the ones not in the business and are expierencing sticker shock. They see these tissues as an investment, and worry if they are going to get their money back. I mean, lets face it, it could cost around three quarters of a million credits to get a crate of our six tissues. Thats a big leap. But I can say from expierence (and believe others who sell alot of tissues can probably echo this sentiment), that you are going to make that investment back and more.

You know it depends on the BE...

I may or may not sell something like an active bio-sensor for cheap....depenss on how I am feeling at the moment.

If I feel like crafting, I sell many things for cheap and sometimes free depending on the person.
It depends on how nice they are.

But when I dont feel like crafting and I get tells from people, then I charge way more then normal....and get people saying how my porices are insane...so I am honest...I tell them I just dont feel like crafting anything today.

The only thing that was very silly, is that one day I made some stuff and gave it away....got tired and was going to log off and someone pestered me to make more things....so I charged them huge amounts....(I charged them 6000 credits for a simple Bio_nutrient supplement)

The funny part was that they bought 5 from me.
Then the next day, yelled at me for charging them so much.

Go figure.

I charge 500cr PER highest plus on a tissue. +16/+16 would be 8k for the tissue.

Consider this - people can get +25 bonuses to a lot of useful skills from us for a LOT cheaper than they could buy a +25 skill tape for.

Combine that and high end meat/bone costs 20cr/u most times on my server...

Were these tissues done by hand, or in a factory? I think that's one big distinction. Ones made in a factory in nice big 25 size crates are worth a lot more to tailors than some hand crafted "grind". I can use some fairly crappy stuff, using small "leftover stacks" of stuff get come up with 12/12 or even 13/13 and I'm not even master. I consider these more or less "grind". If they are not factory made, then my opinion is that maybe 3.2k/tissue is a big too much, but what do I know.

Why does every reliable BE that sells tissues for a more than fair price (3200) live on a different server than me?!

I've placed orders with five different master BE's on my server with promises of delivery since the patch and i've seen nothing.

The answer is real simple, and this is something the tailoring community just doesn't understand. Ready? the reason is pet stims. Pet stims (especially B's) are SO much easier to make than tissues (which require creature resources) and the markup isSO much better, and the demand isSO much larger, that it's hard to justify selling tissues. That's the real problem right there. You can mark up tissues to the moon and it's still harder to make money doing them than making pet stims. Pet stims all you need is 2-3 harvesters runningand you're all set.

Dragongod,

you have to remember that many tailor items take more than one tissue before you get yourself all upset over the perceived markup. If I am to make a gunman's duster, with +15 healing, I actually need 4 +15 tissues, not 1. Oh, and by the way, such tissues *must* be crated for clothing items such as these.

Those BE's that actually charge less when selling "in bulk" may want to re-think that strategy, because to a tailor, there is a huge difference in what they can do with a crate of 25 tissues, versus 25 non-identical singles. If I were selling tissues I'd actually charge much more for crated ones as they are worth more, and also harder to make (getting big stacks of identical creature resources). And if I were a tailor who bought tissues from a BE, I'd certainly insist that they be crated, not accepting any that were not unless they were heavily discounted.

I'm on your server, in fact I've seen you around. I've been able to get pretty much all the bone and meat I need, never paid over 10cr/ea myself.

I was selling at 1k per point and business was beyond what I could supply and all of my really great supplies were gone. I increased to 2k per point and now I can keep up, and I can afford to pay for enormous quantities of the really great stuff I need.

And quite frankly, even at this price, I would stil rather give up tissues and have the Advanced Chemical abilities so I could make my own quality schematics for Pet Stims. For pet stims you need to be harvesting 8 components perhaps every week. that is a lot to handle. Once tissues are included and pets, I have a 5 page "word / excel" grid type document on the other computer to help me keep track of what I am doing. And I can't.

Anyone selling tissues with great stats for 500 a pop is not going to be in business long, the resource costs for high oq/flavor/pe meat is way too high to sustain that return. I have 4-5 regular tailor customers on Lowca and have no trouble getting prices like you posted. I have had 1 or 2 tell me the pricing was too high and I bet in a month's time they will come back because their cheaper supplier can no longer sustain his business.

I think the thing that concerns me, which may be addressed in the future patch, is that really clothing items don't wear away. So there has to be a saturation point where people have all the enhanced stuff they want and just stop buying it. That point worries me as it will make me obsolete again because this is the part of BE that I enjoy experimenting with.
