Thread: CH's are revolting
Jaxidian,
Pets are a part of your livelyhood. If you don't think that the nerf will affect us then you've got your head in the sand. BE's are just as nerfed as CH's when this goes through.
Haggis
i think the changes are positive for us.
-CH need very specific CL animals and we will be able to make them, as CH advance they will need slightly higher creatures - good business for the clone engineer
-we can make all the mount creatures. no matter how many people complain about/protest these changes they are going through and there are a ton of people who welcome the changes and will be willing to tame the mounts
-CH can now command their pets to use certain special attacks and we can add specials to any pet
-non-CH are reduced to CL 10 meaning the ones who want the very highest possible power out of a pet will have to come to a BE
I'd rather have BE negatively affected than have this game continue to be "Beastmaster- the Game". Half the players in the game are CH's because they are overwhelmingly better in PvE and PvP combat. If they quit, then ... too bad, so sad. I won't miss their play-style or their impact on the social fabric of the game.
Maybe after this next set of changes, I'll be able to use the word **edit** without being edited.
Do you guys think the Devs were yanking our chain when they said that soon BE's will be in great demand? No.
I really think that we'll be getting the outskirts of this nerf hurricane. We'll be able to fiddle with AR, resist, Secial Attacks, and their pigment, yes, I remember that the BE designer post said appearance of the creature too. CH's are ALL OVER THE GAME, you can't escape them in-game. Remember the small majority of the community reads and posts on these forums, only like 10%. You think that the other 90% of the players, including unaware CH's will spread the boycott? Their boycott won't work, it'll just encourage the other Master Creature Handlers, who will be minorly affected, to go out and grab or buy as much Kaadus and mount them after the update. They'll be flowing in cash while the other CH's are in pickett lines thinking that they are expressing a threating point.
The morale of the story is: Just chill, there are so many Creature Handlers out on those live servers that a forum herd of them will just be a destined failure.
<bows>
I've got a ch on my 2nd account and I certainly won't be part of any boycott (not that I plan on making a career out of mounts either =P).
Personally, I'm counting my blessings that CH is getting off lightly in the upcoming adjustment. It could have been much, much worse.
Daishar: Master Rifle/CH
Jito: Master Doc/BE
Non-CHs reduced to CL10 critters. Why would they bother? Only thing? Mounts. How many of the six mount templates are CL10 and under? Kaadu and Carrion Spat (if my notes are right. For some reason, in the bakc of my head, I thought carrion spats are higher than CL10). Four of the six mounts not usable at all except by CH, and both of the ones that can are on the bird skeleton.
Our other CL10 (and lower) pets are a joke, IMO, as they're currently built. Will the new-and-improved (sight unseen) cloning changes be of benefit? I don't know, but they're changing too much all at once, and I predict a train wreck of epic proportions.
Our extended market? Reduced CL across the board only seems good for us because our existing templates all blow goats (in a Low CL kind of way, as well as a not-better-than-wild kind of way). The higher CL pets? Less likely, fewer dabblers, all or nothing CHes may become the norm. Nothing doesn't help us (the upcoming DE changes imply to me people will want their one-of-any-type pet to be a droid or a faction pet, not a weak useless animal). All doesn't help us (master CHs have a staggering variety of things to find that are functionally better than anything we can make, our ability to currently outstrip nature in small numbers nonwithstanding) significantly. And currently, only master CHs can turn an animal INTO a mount, which doesn't help us.
What's coming, and may be coming soon, is a world where the other craft-a-pet profession (droid engineers) can call two of their creations, everyone else can call one, and anyone can use them. And the other craft-a-pet profession can't use theirs at ALL without the direct intervention of a second profession, which is being made extremely dabbler unfriendly (lessening the popularity of BE/CH). ANd then the people we sell to can use two pets at once (unlike us, the crafters), and are significantly unlikely to do that with anything but a CL10 mount and a tank... I just bleed for this profession. It feels like their design has droids an all-in-one that is useful to others (droid engineer profession gets direct use from creations, added utility for creations, and others will want them too), and abslutely nothing we make is DIRECTLY useful to us at all without at least one intermediary profession, and our abilities as crafters give us no benefits with our creations. Compared to the soon-to-be DE, and the CH who procure their own pets if they don't want to patronize us.
The only thing that might save this bleak outlook will be our new cloning workup being fantastic, and my optimism is extremely impaired after all the other things in the last four months.
Watch, good clones will need milk. In 100 unit lots.
i have both types a BE and a CH
the BE i am unlearning, the CH am unlearning also, why be a Bio-engineer if there are no CH's to buy pets...after the nerfing goes through they'll just nerf the game more, till it's nothing but a bad memory.
Actually it will be an increase.
And I for one plan to only make mounts for friends.
But of course I only made nonCH pets for friends as well to do my part in keeping pet profileration down.
I gotta tell you, I only have one character, and he's a BE *AND* a CH.
What do I have to say? Yes,I'm gonna be affected. The two biggest things... I will now NEVER be able to build, tame, train and transfer pets to a customer (I'm only a hair away from getting Packmaster.) Second, I can only have one pet out. Plus a few little things like skills going from 25 to 22 or something like that, and one or two commands being added or removed.
My biggest gripe, really? The only people, I believe, who will be able to tame-train-transfer BE pets are going to be Master Creature Handlers, and not just anyone who happens to be a Packmaster. Unless people will be able to tame their own pets, and any CH with the skill levels will be able to train another person's pet without having it in their data pad... like they're talking about with the Mount Command.
Oh well. It's just a game.
Even though I am affected, I do have to say this... this is not pet wars, this is star wars. Han Solo never grabbed two Graul Maulers out of his back pocket to tank stormtroopers while he blasted 'em. More droids, fewer pets, better defenses for the Marksmen and Brawlers.
Maybe it's easier for me because my guy is specialized across three basic professions and three elite professions. No one change, no one patch, completely changes everything.
I'm gonna go out now, set my first food-chem factory up, play with it a bit, and then start collecting DNA to make a bunch of Kaadu.
I've been thinking about what to do for my second profession after BE. I have a tough time killing much besides gnorts. I'm going to give up any illusions of combat at all. Drop 2hand, rifle, 1/2 of scout, novice ranger. I'm thinking of going to Master Doctor. The points just reach Master BE and Master Doc. A life of making meds and sampling will be a bit tedious. But I have a Novice BH on a different account for thrills.
Are Docs and BE's needed for Base conquests?
I have never really seen CHs as a market for BE pets. I have had 2 CHs in the past, and neither has ever bought a pet of any kind, from either a BE, or another CH. Finding and taming wild pets is the whole reason for the existence of the CH in the first place. Since you can't call and use anything you can't tame yourself, why would you ever buy a pet.
I see the non-ch community as your biggest pet market. I know many of you think it is boring to make low level pets. Well it is boring for a doctor to make Stim-Bs too, but that is still his biggest seller. So now you will be able to make CL pets in any shape, and tailored to whatever the max stats and specials the developers are going to allow non-chs. You will be able to do this is relative saftey, because you won't have to sample Rancors for the DNA you need.
From what I understand from the TC, all you are going to need to tame a mount is Empathy 4. One of my characters will now be a BE with 0-0-4-0, just to make mounts. It has also been reported that any of the mount species can be trained as a mount at 60% growth. This stops the growth of the critter, and makes it usable by non-chs. So you if you pick up aminimum of CH skills to go along with your BE you should have a steady stream of non-chs looking for mounts and pets to watch their backs.
As to CL 10 pets being usless, that is just nonsense. Both of my CHs earned their first 5 or 6 boxes with either a fanned rawl, or a bearded jax, both of which are CL 10. No you are not going to go big game hunting with one, but crafters can still use it to watch their backs on the way to thier harvesters and factories
Will this change effect BEs? Sure it will. Will it be their doom ----- I really don't think so
