Thread: A rational point about this whole pet vs probot comparrason
The bottom line is that it's not a valid argument. The devs have not applied the new CL rating system to the droids at all. The droids are totally unaltered aside from their CL ratings, when the next patch rolls around in Janurary you'll see that the droids will be corrected as well so making a comparason that takes pre-patch standards and the new CL standards is totally and utterly ludicrious.
If you want to make a decent argument for keeping the system how it is with 6000 HAM pets around CL10 and 11k HAM pets around CL25 then people like myself are more than willing to hear it out. There is just one thing you need to justify... how is it fair to allow a non-ch pet to have more powertankingpet than something a CH cannot have until they have the ability to tame over CL40? Or to put it another way, what is the point of being a CH when you have such powerful pets without investing in the profession?
I know it's easy to be greedy, to demand more power. But look at this from a genuinely honest point of view. The devs have started by adding a CL rating system for the wild which was designed to make more of the higher end mobs stronger to the point where now anything over CL100 needs a group of people, they have reduced the non-ch pets with the reason that they were apparently too strong, they are now looking at a weapons pass because they say our weapons are too strong for the new standards of the mobs in the games. Thunderhearts exact words were 'now is the time to go hunting cause it'll never be easier than it is now'. So it's clear that the devs are trying to make things harder, not easier. Given that... why are non-ch pets stronger now than they ever have been before? because it's intended? Look at the facts, it's not intended. It's because they're bugged.
But by all means maybe I'm wrong, maybe I've missed the quotes and statements where the devs said they wanted to make the game easier. If these exist please bring them to light and myself and others will wholeheartly agree that things are working as intended.
Or you can just 1 star the topic without even bothering to give a counter argument.. probably because you know you can't argue with facts like that but you still like to say 'your wrong because I'm always right' without actually saying it because you know it only helps to prove that there is no counter argument. Blingbling summed up the mentality nicely, your benefitting from overpowered pets so who cares that others are suffering problems because of their existance.
now, did they make that post before the new cloning system was live? yes (I think)
Has DEV1 seen any of the bull dung being created in the name of science? no, wont happen till jan 5th.
The sentence about probots being equal to cl10 BE pets is intrigueing. DEs dont get thier materials from totally random sources. They get to know the results before 'next' is ever clicked. This tells me that the DEVs already had a pretty good idea of what was expected of the BE cl10 system before even TC saw it.
Actually, considering they will be UPGRADING Probots from current in January to be in line with BE pets (as stated by TH), I think it is a very valid arguement.
That doesn't mean the 10k 40% CL 5 pets wont get looked at. Can't have Non-CHers running around with 14k effective pets, now can we.
CL2 with 10k of HAM and around 200 damage per hit using the bugged dna. Clearly very very wrong. With generationalizing from CL55 Reapers they around 11k at CL10 and around 70-80 damage per hit. But lets just establish here what makes pets useful, they're meat sheilds. Plain and simple, they don't need to cause damage they simply need to recieve it allowing the player to pound away while the enemy eats through the pets HAM.
But again we come back to the same thing, what is fair? I say it's not, you sat it is. All i know is that the devs have weakened all mobs in the world, cut back the CL rating for the non-ch pets and then handed us all 10k tanks with 49% and higher resistances without even looking at the CH profession.
Indeed they did say that the probots are getting an upgrade, considering the damage range for them I think it's the damage that will increased while the HAM and resistances will be brought into line with what your seeing from existing mobs in the game. The fact they said it's an UPGRADE could mean a great many things. Things are far too up in the air to get any solid answers on these things using logic you can see something is wrong though.

that "upgrade" was with the last patch. it changed them from cl 16 to cl 10. i was disappointed since i was looking forward to having some nice probots.

one thing i think most of you are missing.... and here is a HUGE difference between .. your cl 10 .. and cl25(on up) pets that you are making.. (are any of u using these or just selling the cl10 and less ones??..)
most that i have seen sacrifice damage componants to get high defense componant.. which .. DOESNT help much fighting the newPVE combat code.. yeah the pet i borrowed tonight.. took a hit or two ok .. but as soon as i hit the mob.. my pet was never hit again .. becuz it could not do enough damage to hold the agro.. (defenition of a tank pet is to be the creature being whaled on..) now look at the CL 25 pets and higher you are creating.. they have high damage and high defense.. which will be a way more effective tank that any non CH will get..
balance out the offense and defense of your lower level pets and i am sure HAM 's will come down..(and it will be a betterpet too) and if u read the dev notes on the new PVE no longer will mobs stick to the first creature that hits it..
take that into consideration.... too

so do you only read patch notes that pertain to BE?? im sorry but u are wrong here.. the patch notes a few weeks back said it will be harder for pets to hold agro.. meaning if they are not hitting harder then the player will be more than likely able to pull the mob off the pet.. and this is true i tested it.. So meatshield does no good if it is able to take alot of hits after your are dead...
so to be a good meatshield u not only have to be able to take hits.. you have to be able to hold agro..
and to my understanding there is a different method to get that cl2 10k ham ,, 200 damage... as apposed to the cl 8-10 that everyones been argueing about.. and i am talking about the cl8-10 pets.. (the ones i think are being made as intended)

Then your experience has been significantly different than mine. As a MCH, I run around with a gurreck (wild tamed) on guard and he has had no trouble scraping aggro and keeping it when I get aggroed while sampling.
Today was a case in point, I got aggro trying to sample a Frenzied Graul. They are light armour and 65% kinetic, but the Gurreck took aggro after the Graul got in a hit or two as I was running away. Oncethe Gurreckhad aggro I bledthe Grauland used Stopping Shot until it was dead (using a Scout Blaster, the Graul has 35% energy resist). Given the differences in resistance to types of attacks, I seriously outdamaged the Gurreck over the course of the fight - but the Graul never even looked at me once the Gurreck had aggro.
Regardless of what was in the notes, I've seen little difference between pre-patch and post-patch mob behaviour. As a ranged attacker, the trick has always been to allow the pet to build up mob hate before you start in.

My experience is that only NPC's will ignore my pet if I start to severely outdamage it.
An creatures my pet are on, stay on my pet as I apply 2 health bleeds, use pistolwhip, and spam the heck out of double tap. Have yet to have a creature say... this weak pet isn't doing enough damage to me, lemme eat his master.
I have had NPC's do that though... but I just don't spam double tap on them and I'm 100% fine.
Creature fighting = Maximum Health, Resists, Armor
NPC fighting = Maximum Health, Resists, Armor, Damage
