Got a tell from this ChefTypeDude (not posting his name) saying 'Hi'. Now, I couldn't reply right away because the Bazaar was doing it's "Purchasing Item - might take 3 weeks" bit. Then he sends "OI!"... very pleasant chap...
I asked him what he wanted and he said BSNs. I then told him I'm not doing them at the moment as they weren't worth the bother.
(They aren't - the meat is pretty bad here at the moment and getting enough good stuff for a run of 85+ BSNs would cost me a fortune.)
He then said "Oh - so you're going to be difficult." ??
I told him I wasn't being difficult, I just preferred to work with my Tailors as it was easier, and I could make my money with less hassle.
He harangued me again and told me he "knew I was being difficult". I replied that I play for fun and at the moment doing Chef Additives was not fun. Period.
He then told me I must be a Yank because only stupid Yanks say period.
I told him Bye, and that I'm a Brit.
He's now on my ignore list.
Frankly, if this is typical of Chef attitudes on Chimaera at the moment it'll be a cold day in Hell before I'll ever make another Chef Additive for sale. Might even make my own Chef and undercut the lot of them.
The forum would censor my opinion of this moron so I won't really say much more. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his armpits...

Chefs have a bit of a reputation for nagging and pestering. Far be it from me to argue against this perception (can very rarely bring myself to deal with them) but I wonder if the kind of attitude you've come up against can be traced to a lack of awareness among Chefs of what BEs are about.
I shall explain what I mean by this. Look at the Chef FAQ and it will tell you that BEs can sell you additives you can use to craft better food. Look at the Tailor FAQ and you will read that BEs can sell you tissues that you can use to make clothes with bonuses. The Creature Handler documentation will tell you that a BE can make a pet more or less with the stats you want.
What the Chefs aren't told is that BEs also cater to Tailors. Nor are the Tailors told that BEs can sew up a deal with Chefs. To the Chef who accuses a BE of "being difficult" it would seem preposterous to invest all that time and effort mastering an elite profession and then refuse to sell anything. It isn't that we don't want to sell; just that you are not our only custoemrs.

i'm sorry ot hear that...... i know a few chefs (notice keyword: few) that are very nice, pleasent, never haggle, don't ask for schematics....... running additives is very profitable for me atm
but i've been there....... i've had someone DEMAND that i make him 5 schematics..... for 20k lol
i had another chef haggle down the prices on my additives if i would throw in a schematic for 100k
yah needless to say /addignore and i pretty close.... just sad he's a better friend to me than a lot of the actual people i converse with in-game

I toatally understand, I had the same problem with a other Chefs, they nag you to death on Additives, thinking we have a super secret stockpile of awsome meat, then they complain on how long it takes to make the additives.
-hence one of the main reasons I dropped BE, which I find to be the best crafting type profession in the game-

this is so odd. LOL. my master BE on wanderhome, (Trinket by name), has roughly 140 crates of food additives on my vendor. 90% of which are medium high - to - high quality. granted they are not the best but they are what i could make with the resources at hand.
I have 0 customers. no tailors, just a new guild mate that has a penchant for spiders. have made him a few.

Want to make a Chef really angry? Turn down their request to make them a Schematic.

You seriously believe Chef was a broken class?

Heck yeah, we were broken. Between an unbalanced tree (e.g. Tatooine Sunburn at Mix II being the best drink around), schematics that relied on a profession that wasn't in the game anymore (the Farmer class was supposed to provide milk, as originally designed), and items that, once crafted, provided no buff whatsoever (e.g. Wedding Cake!), we definately were not well off.
However, I'm not so sure that the revamp was the best way to go about fixing things. In some ways, I prefer the old system. If they had just gone about fixing instead of reinventing, maybe I would like it more.
We definately have to bug you guys a lot more, that's for sure!

Hope you guys don't mind me butting in here...
I'm a Master Chef, and I would just like to say that I'm sorry that you guys have to deal with jerk chefs!
I've been a chef since the game shipped, and after playing a broken profession for so long, I am just happy to be a useful class! Most chefs think that if you can't sell +400 Vasarian Brandy, than it isn't worth playing. Its a shame. They become co-dependant on BEs, when they should treat you guys as a blessing.
Although the bad thing is that if you aren't making the BE food, you can't really make enough to afford BE components! It is a crazy balance. BE components slots were originally only designed to work in certain schematics (soypro, for example). But now they are applicable for EVERY food item. Of all the chef revamp changes, this would be one that I would like to revoke.
Anyway...just wanted to say thanks to all of you Bio-Engineers out there! On behalf of all of us non-jerk chefs, anyways...

Whenever a Chef solicits me for components I tell them to bring me the resources and I will gladly make a scehamtic and even run it in oneo fmy six factories if need be. When I tel them ho wmuch Meat with High OQ, PE, and Flavor they need they usually go away.

Not all chefs are rude like that, though the impatient little kids usually are.
BTW I even use the crappiest meat for the additives. The difference between 82 and 85 for example is only a few points lower on the food side of things. If you have good resources for the food, you won't actually miss those few points on the additive. The important thing is to get the additive in there, of any quality. The really good meat I'll set aside and use for some special type foods.

i'd make them a schematic....but warn them that i would only use year-old meat or not experiment on it at all. I figure, if they have super-old worthlessmeat stockpiled from 6months or a year ago, they can have a schematic out of pure pity.
oh and many thanks to the chef who understands the difficulty![]()
