In case you have a good source of Dathomir Insec meat and/or Fish you can make very good money with selling Pet stims. They are allways in good demand. Selling pets can be very lucrative too.
Another steady source of income are additives for chef-food and to some lesser degree tissues for tailor-cloths.
So yes, you can make very good cash with being a MBE/MCH
May the Force be with you all!

yes it's possible, but if you're looking to do it w/ pets alone....good luck. Tissues on the other hand can/do provide a nice cash flow source, if you can get the meat.

I took over my sister's account a couple of months ago and decided to make her a MBE. Since that time I have Mastered the profession and managed to amass a small (Very small??) fortune of about 9 million credits just selling Food additatives to my guild chefs. I have just about mastered Merchant as well, making this character a total crafter with no combat skills at all. I am starting to generate some business with a vendor in a merchant tent in my guild town of New Acropolis on Naboo, Valcyn.
I'd say, Yes, if you can hook up decently with a chef and some folks that can get you good quantities of meat you can make some nice change at this profession.

Have MBE's made any money at selling JUST the DNA samples? For instance, what would an Above Average Mutated Rancor sample go for -if anything?

There isn't a market for the samples as there isn't a supply of them. You don't try buying what isn't available. A master ranger/master BE would get good samples but they are a master BE. Why wouldn't they just make their own pets. That is were half the fun is.
Unless you have a good supply of meat to do the food additives, you won't be rolling in the cash. You will make more than you spend though, if that helps.

Supply vs demand someone told me. On Chimaera there are quite few bio engieers. I can't keep up with the demand for clothing and food tissues. So, yes, there's a lot of money in BE.

I sell pets only so far. I won't start selling tissues and other stuff until I hit master. hehe I'm not grinding either. I've been working on being a MBE since September (still not one.. but getting much closer hehe). I have a very complex pricing system, but with me selling pets only, I'm decently profitable.
I'm sure once I start actually doing the tissues and other stuff, I will be getting even more money in. But my answer is yes .. it makes money

Yes, making money is not hard at all.
Every day I am on I make 2 or 3 dewbacks - my goal being CL10 or less -the ones that turn out over cl10 I save for creature handlers the ones that turn out cl10 or less I put on the bazaar for 5K each, they are always bought within 24 hours. I sell 2 or 3 a day ... making 10 or 15K a day on no real cost (DNA samples are free, the meat I harvest myselfand I traded one dewback for 10K of adequate grain a while ago) ... 75K a week is not bad money for maybe 10 minues a day of effort. It more than pays the rent.
Custom orders or the occasional sale of a higher level creature to a creature handler also adds a nice chunk of change .. if you have a vendor, then even better.
And if you can make a deal with a chef or tailor that needs a consistant supply ofbio componentsyou will have another source of good income.

75k a week ???? ...you think thats money ...hell it cost me more in travel to get the DNA then 15k per. I charge 50k-150k for a nonCH pet ..and there well worth the price ...I can make 27k in 3-5 mins tops in this game doing some Janta missions ...charging under that is insane. Its too easy for a person to make a million a day in this game. Charge them what your creatures are worth !!!. I mean just to get to the different DNA's it cost me 20k in travel. then there's the experimental time to get the generation your want ...and I destroy all junk ...if its not up to par ..its gone. .... I have no idea how you feel its worth your time to make a creature for 15k ...that is pennies. I spend more the travel time ...not even including the brandy/ahrisa and paying for buffs to get to good DNA sources. I love to make creatures too ..but you have to make money as well ..this is a crafting profession and the point is to make money for most of us.

I was a master BE, gave it up for the HOLO grind, gave the grind up and now almost master BE again. I pulled a million credits a week between pet sales and chef additives, and thats after paying my local butchers outrageous meat bill!, LOL.

If you want to build a PURELY money-centered character around BE, I'd suggest going Master BE/Master Chef/Merchant 3000/Survey 2. You'll be able to have 2 vendors, one for your BEsupplies and one for your BE enhanced food; vasarian brandy is a staple of every combat character, and it goes pretty quick, so you can make a lot of money cutting the middleman and making your own additives and brandies.

Well, I didn't want to do this, but the post gave me that push I needed to actually figure out how much money I've made. I've kept pretty meticulous records since I opened up a chef and tailor tissue vendor on Corellia (Naritus server). That was back in mid-April. Since I don't belong to a guild and have no combat skills, I've had to purchase all of my meat at fair prices. I just recently began purchasing all of flora as well, since I've completed the gradual process ofconverting harvesters into factories. Since mid-April I have spent 40 million on resources. I have grossed 55 million. So I guess I'm making 6 million a month. Of course, my vendor is stocked with millions of credits worth of tissues, and I've got millions of credits worth of flora and meat in my 'lab', so you could say my net isworth more than the 15 million net profit.
