Thread: How do you sample bull Rancors
How do you sample bull Rancors? ive been trying for a couple of days now and my clothes are realy becoming worn due to all the deaths(gonna have 2 run around naked soon:smileyhappy![]()
Im a 4/2/4/2 bio engy do i need to be master or something?
I had 100% failure until I was a master BE. Now I have 30-50% success.
Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Very carefully.
I am pretty sure you have to be a master BE to sample Bull Rancors and live.

Or be a master BE/TKM and beat the snot out of it if it mis behaves
I wish they put some sort of message if the creature was above our sample range :/ . One night I didn't realize I was trying to sample an ancient bull (well over CL75) for a good 15 minutes heh.
Then again, when has the BE class ever gotten any documentation on the profession?
Yep, you need that MBE box to sample the big guys. If you're curious about a particular creature's CL, check out www.swgcreatures.com.
It helps immensely to have maskscent as high as you can get; getting +25 maskscent clothing is a must. Also, try approaching slowly from behind the creature. You might want to consider a macro that allows you to begin a DNA sample and hop on your vehicle before the sample is finished and the creature becomes aggressive.
Finally, it's good to observe the behaviors of your subjects. Rancors, especially bulls and mutants, sometimes use area attacks when they decide to attack you. This can have interesting (and lifesaving) effects if you are sampling among several of these creatures. They have no reservations about killing each other. If they launch an area attack, they are likely to damage their litter-mate, who will in turn attempt to eviserate her attacker. This can give you a chance to /peace, run, and watch the fireworks (or join in a bit?) until the last creature is standing. Then, approach carefully and sample again....
I'm a master TKA and just finished Tailor (holo), Now I was given Bio Eng. So I went after real big stuff as soon as I hit DNA 1 so went to dathomir sampled lots of cool animals , also did a Bull rancor on the first hit lol, next time I tried it he attacked so pulled my VK out and finished him off, It's a Real nice combo to defend instant and get hit less from big animals while sampling ![]()
try it out
I'm a TKA and novice Bio Eng 1-1-1-1 I sampled one at first try, second one he aggroed which I kicked his butt
It's agood combo to defend your self against big stuff, Even kimogila's ![]()
I'm a Master BE and Master Scout and I wear two +14 Mask Scent pieces of clothing, so my mask scent is at 125. It really helps.
I was out sampling whatever I came across and had just finished off a Nocuous Kamurithwhen a Bull Rancor lair popped up right on top of me. I immediately moved to the Bull Rancor and got two successful samples (which killed him) without any failures. I moved to the Rancor Youth and got two successful samples (which killed him) without any failures. I was feeling quite c-o-c-k-y and was about to tap the lair when a group of 5 players arrived and informed me that this was their mission lair. It hadn't even registered on me that the lair was labeled "Bull Rancor Lair" instead of something generic like a "Mound of Rocks". Boy was I embarrased.
Hmm they where lower level when I sampled them last time I am pretty sure of it.
So anywise...if you dont want to get killed get the clothes, and also get master scout.
That should push your masked scent up to a nice level.
Next when sampling make sure you do not have a gun eqiped....the answer is no to the guns.
Why?
Becasue if you shott something, then its friends will notice you, just becasue you tick something off does not mean your masked scent is gone, which will help you in that nothing else will come after you.
Anywise, unarmed, and running, and hitting the peace option normally makes things give up faster.
But if they get damaged, they stay upset alot longer, and could run you into the ground.
The best way to escape aside from burst run, it to cut cornors and use slopes and water.
Also I find running into groups of other Non-Aggro creatures help, as those creatures might help you and attackl the thing, or else if you are incapped, the creature may not deathblow you becasue of the other creatures.
I hope this helps.
As for sampling level needed....not 2, I think you might need 4 or to become a Master.
