Is it just me or have there been a wave of people signing up as BEs recently? I thought it was a pretty niché profession with people trying it and then giving it up after the grind. Good to see people are taking it up (even if it does dent my future business
) and discussing it and offering advice. People are getting there before people like me, droid327, arthur etc can answer them. So welcome guys and gals and good luck in the field!

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but in my case it was conjur up another avatar and put him down the path of the BE/Chef because the PA needs a Chef, badly, and BE is an obvious complement to Chef. Since you can do both with 250 skill points, even if you can't fight your way out of a wet paper bag after doing so, seemed to be a logical thing, and the PA Tailor is already reaping the rewards of having a BE around to provide her with exotic tissues that make her merchandise more attractive.

For me Chef character on Gorath, having a difficult time finding a BE to make nutrients prompted my decision to get another character towards BE path. The guild Tailors had also screamed the lack of BE tissues so its a logical decision i guess..

I picked it up because it was one of the few professions no one in my guild had yet... plus I thought it might be intresting after reading some posts about collecting DNA and stuff.

Yeah...I have noticed the amount of new blood. At first I was a bit worried that we would have to answer the same questions over and over again (The ones in the FAQ or the FAFAQ), but although there has been some of that, it is making a much more lively community.

I love BE but haven't been able to do much sampling yet due to comp probs. Meh.
anyhow, I first tested BE on the testcenter during a blue frog day and found that I loved it. ^^ (and while I did intend to do BE stuff for a chef alt, I burnt out on the chef and am gonna make her tailor. slowly. ^^) I like making pets =) It's fun.

I've been a bioengineer since October of '03, time has gone by pretty fast. I enjoy being a bioengineer because it lets me fish, collect eggs, and sneak up on extremely high level creatures while completely defenseless and look somewhat sane... Anyway, it is a great profession and I am looking forward to playing more, being more active on the boards, and getting to know the other people who find bioengineer as enjoyable as I do.

i've just had this one char and besides master medic (out of curriosity) i've only mastered creature handler and bio-engineer. no question, i'm all for the pets in game, both in using and in crafting them. i guess i'm in those professions for a year, in game for 1.5 years now.
i haven't been contributing to these boards a lot, dunno why actually. nonetheless, i'm looking forward to exchange experiences in the upcoming future

Hmm... I'm not "new" to BE, although I only recently took up haunting the forums looking for insider scoop, good tips, and the wisdom of more articulate and more research minded fellow BEs. I originally came to BE because way back when the PA (AR, not TOTBS) needed a BE for base takedowns. About... marchish of last year. Sheer stubbornness led me to Master. Number of base take-downs I have been involved in: 0.
But after the mind-numbing crafting grind, constantly bugging friend for cheap grind meat, I have embraced BioEngineer for the complexity and mystery of creating life. The money sure as heck ain't keeping me BE.
Well... it's also fun to tell someone that should know better "What do you mean? I'm not a Jedi! Just because I can kill most any creature just by touching it... "
The less tasteful jokes surrounding dna collection I'll leave to collective imagination. But... I dunno. I just have more fun, and find more challenge, in playing with no combat skills to speak of. (Plus, I've got most of the combat-heavy quests out of the way. I'm even Force Sensitive, but I don't have any skill points to spend on it =) )
I could also make a case for not playing as many hours and spending them here on the forums instead, but I think it's more that I saw the good community here and stayed on to see if I could parlay with the wise people already holding court here.
(okay, when I use the term "holding court", it's time to go to sleep...)
