Life is change but it's too bad that this change does not come on top of what we already know, that it is not added to existing knowledge. Hopefully the dev who worked on this had a brain and wasn't a scarecrow otherwise we will have to start from scratch yet again. This will be what the thrid or fourth time since CU that our world has been totally scrapped as far as pets go.

I wouldn't jump ship yet. The Dev I've been conversing with has stated very clearly that babies above CL70 are going to be rare and hard to tame. In addition CH's will be required to STEP up to CL80 by increments of 2. We will be able to tame up to CL72,then up to CL74 and so on til' CL80. If these pets are as rare as I believe they eventually will be, then it will be a while before you see anyone with a CL80 rancor running around. The very way we get the ability may take a couple months to "unlock". This means that that you WILL have a market for Cl72's Cl76's and so on. It's also been discovered by Mmost CH's that one bad*ss pet is not necessarily better than 2 or 3 lower levels!!! That is the most important part I think your missing. If I were a BE on live I would focus as much or more attention on makin bad*ss CL40's and under as I did the Big Boy. The max number of trainable slots on one pet that we know of is 12(wild) and seems to be 9 for a BE pet at the higher levels. But 2 CL40's BE'dmay get 5 to 7 slots. IF i get more abilites with 2 or threee pets and also a better combined to hit and DPS with 2 or 3 pets, plus add to the over all confusion of battling 3 pets vs 1 for PVP. I as a MCH/MBH will always have one or two CL80 bigboys (someday, lol) but will probably use a combo more often than not.
LOL, this is what we already do and have done - a good pet crafter makes a wide range of good or bada$$ pets.
The expansion will in all likelihood throw our recipes out the window and we will just have to relearn our craft. Nothing we are not consistantly doing but it is aggrivating as it shows a lack of good project management on the development side. My kingdon for a process map.
I expect that CLs will change yet again and we can do nothing until the expansion hits live. I know in my testing for the CU, what happened in Beta did not necessarily hold true when it hit live.
I don't believe that you can sample anything over CL65 as it is today. No changes there as far as I know. I didn't want to sit and keep poking a CL80 with a stick and getting the "failed" message 505 times. It would be nice if they just said "this creature is too high to sample" .............................. And I simply cannot understand why you would think that this means you have to totally re-learn your profession???!?? A cl40 now, is a CL40 after the expansion hits live! Whats the difference? If your currently making pets of varying levels, simply continue to do so, and now instead of throwing away the ones you put too many points into aggression with, you can sell them now too! I simply cannot see how this is in any way BAD for BE! As A MCH I find that I'm looking for all levels of pets to combine. I have added a CL2 wild pet together with 2 higher BE pets. I would focus on Exp'ing the different slots IE aggression,Mental, etc to see what ya get. And then just sell them. I personally look for high health, high to hit pets, Other Ch's Like high damage pets. You will find a market for most any pet you make as long as it's not low on every stat.
The big differance is we have no CL monitotr as of yet so we have to work out new recipes for cl 40. Most of us use recipes we have worked hard on for CL25, 35-37 and 70's as well as the CL 10 non CH pets. It wont be as hard as it was to come up with our base recipes but we will still have to work out the kinks once again is all. If the DEV's gave us the CL monitor we asked for years ago it realy wouldnt be an issue at all!

this certainly frustrates all of the CL61 or so MBE/MCHs out there.
but what else is new.

only CL80 MCHs? are you sure?

I just saw this posted on swgcreatures and came here to see if anyone was talking about it.
I think I am about at the point of giving up BE. What are they thinking about? Effectively banning MBE/MCH's from really BEING MCH's is ludicrous. That's like saying a master weaponsmith/master pistoleer cannot use a master pistoleer reward item because they can never be level 80.
Might be time to reactivate my WoW subscription. I can't believe this.

I'm abcsolutely sure on needing to be a CL 80 to tame aver CL70
sorry, I know this leaves out BE/MCH. I would have went that route with my respec had that template been CL80! I was MDE for about 8 months (1st holo, and never did any more holos! ) and I loved it. But this dang game is sooo combat oriented, there was too much I felt I would be left out of as anything under CL80. So I chosse MCH/MBH CM4000. I'm by no means a Jedi Killer, in fact I've yet to take on a Player jedi. I do enjoy the elite marks as BH, and its nice loot, But I'd rather Be a BE MCH that focused on Pets.
I dabled with BE a lil with one of my respecs, and again in this beta, and I would have to whole-heartedly agree that not being able to see the CL level, let alone any other stats as you experiment is just plain stupid!!! I've done lots of different types of craftng in my 2 years in this game andwith virtually every item or component, you can see the results of your experimentation as your doing it!! Why it is different for crafting pets is beyond me. I have'tlooked at your TOP Five, but if it were up to me,that would be number 1 and I would absolutely hound the devs until it got changed or they gave me some valid reasoning for it to be this way! I would however not worry too much about hitting right at CL40. I don't mind a bit that I may need a lil CL2 to fill out a 3-pet combo. I like the idea of having something hard to target, and if I train the bigger pet(s) aggression and or the lil one hunted withdrawl, the lil guy never gets touched as long as I have the big one(s) attack first. My lil guy can sit and spam hamstring,or feint or whatever and contribute. If I was to be BE on live I would try the approach of seeing how high I could get certain stats through experimenting for all kinds of levels. As a Ch, if I see two lvl 40's with better stats added together, than one lvl 80, I'm buying in bulk! ![]()
