Thread: Give us new pet skins!!

I am sure that this has been discussed before but here is my rant anyways. When are BioE's going to get some new pet skins in the game? My customers and myself are getting tired of not having snakes, flying creatures or anything from Kash. I mean we have many slight variations of the same pet like the Verne, Ikopi, Kahmurra, and Swirl Prong. Then we also have the Bageraset, Brackaset, Falumpaset and the Gurnaset. Yes one might argue that there are enough differences to warrant a pet skin for each type, but in my opinion these pet do not sell well so why do we have 4 variations of each?? I do pets on the Valcyn server as special order only and then throw my leftovers on the vendor (i don't use recipes). 50% of my customers get turned away because they want a pet from Kash. Now we have this next expansion coming up called Trials of Obi-Wan. Not much has been released about it so I don't know this for sure, but I doubt that BioE's will get any love from this expansion. There are about 70 craftable pets available to us in the game. With 10 planets (not including Kash since we can't make anything from there), this averages out to 7 pets for every planet. When ToOW hits there will be 12 planets total and still we will be missing out on any new pet skins. If you leave out snakes and flying creatures, we still would be missing around 14 new pet skins. I know we can't have bolotaurs varactyls and kash banthas as a craftable skin because their are rewards and that would severely upset many people (especially those who pre-ordered RoTW and got the varactyl). I know many professions have not had much attention at all (pauses in silence for smugglers), and I know that some may say well BioE's should be rich now that they make all the stims, but please remember that our name is Bio-Engineer. We centralize around cloned pets, around biologically enhanced tissues. The only reason we sell meds now is because of those whose template doesn't allow for a lot of medical skills and they want a backup for healing. Pre-CU Stim B's used to fly off my vendor just after I put them up. Now it is one of the many items I discontinue due to lack of interest or necessity (pet stims anyone?).


Closing Note: We are not asking for an entire revamp here, all we want is to be true to our name and be able to make what our customers want. 3-4 skins for snakes, maybe 5-6 for flying creatures and some new content from the expansions that are out or coming out.

I would like us to be able to learn the skins of what we sample. I know this isn't going to happen but ... wouldn't it be cool if we could? Wait .. i have a feeling that this is what we had before I arrived on the scene ??? But it would give BE's a cool little mini-game like the CH's have.


I envisage it working like this: on sampling, you would have a small chance to get a x-time use for a schematic for that animal ... keep the skins we have already to not change the game too much, but just have that little extra bonus so that we MIGHT have a chance to learn a snake skin or a peko peko skin or a kashyyk skin and so on for a limited use schematic.


That would be totally cool and would work with how the game works now as well. Architects have limited furniture builds but also have limited time schematics... why not BE's?

I would definitely be in favor of this as well. I mean theoretically speaking, we harvest DNA and DNA provides all the information regarding a species. If we harvest a skin enough we should be able to make it. I am sure that putting limited use schematics into the game would be far easier than adding permanent new ones.

I know there have to be more people who care about this subject. Just give us some way of acquiring, say 5 or 6 new pet skins and we would be tickled to death. Maybe give us a skin that looks mean and fierce but is small. Not all deadly things come in great big sizes. I just get tired of every order i make have a rancor or kimo in it somewhere.

Here Here, new skins would be very nice. since the great BioE change (pre publish 9 or so) and the crafting system we have now there have been no new skins added. all other crafters at least get looted schems fopr new items. At the very least they could give us loot shcems for new pet types!!!!!

good idea, would be very cool.

We've never had this in game. Up to Nov ??03 we hardly had any skins and most of those were broken. They did a fix on us and we got lots more skins...and thats how its stayed.

Not sure there are any BEs left that were in Beta (I just missed it). the story I heard was the BE was added to the game late on , almost as an afterthought, hence why it was soooooo broken early on (if any of you want to see how bad it was, see how far you can go back in the forum search - any post around Jul/Aug 03 will do)

Perhaps we could have some kind of set-up like Shipwrights do with the Firespray? You know... sample from a creature and get a piece of a skin for it... get all the pieces and you'd have a schematic to make that creature. This would reward the BEs that actually go out there and put in the work to get DNA from all sorts of diverse creatures.

I also think that Bio-Engineer should get a creature update.


  1. DNA Enhancer - using four (same quality) DNA samples to create an enhancer to use in the generic DNA template creation process.


  • Add a bonus to the experimented atributes. Health, Travel speed, States resist, Damage, Attack speed, and maybe even Creature structure (size larger than the level from wild to crafted level).

  • Lower the level of the crafted creature, -5 max amount. For all the times we over shoot by just one level!!

  • Would allow something for maybe a Master Bio-Engineer to further greaten his/her creations.

2. Add skins of the pets that we don't have, some 200+ creatures in the game with different skins. We could at least get the following.



  • Crystal snake - Yavin IV

  • Kreetle - Tatooine

  • Mant. screechers,hunters,ect - Endor

  • Peko peko - Naboo

  • Reamer - Endor

  • Krayt Dragon - Tatooine ( we have the Kimogila, why not him? )

  • Gackle Bat - Yavin IV

  • Borgle - Endor

  • Puc - Yavin IV

  • Spined Snake - Lok

  • Vynock - Many Planets

  • Chuba - Naboo

  • Nuna - Many Planets

  • Pharple - Lok

  • Flewt - Talus

  • Kashyyykian Bantha - Kashyyyk

  • Gurk - Lok

  • Varactyl - Kashyyyk

  • Voritor - Dantooine

  • And many more. I am unsure of the spelling on most so I left them out as not to sound stupid.

Many have asked for Airborn Mounts, which wouldn't be hard seeing we have a Jetpack currently in game. But I would like to see alot more of the creatures we already have changed into mounts. Kimogila, Bordok, Eopie, Picket, Bolle bol, Bolma, Thune, Pugoriss, Gualama, and some more that I am sure you would like to see also.


Thats just my thoughts on this, I would be most happy to see these changes.

They'd never give us these skins because the Bantha's a quest reward and the Varactyl's an incentive. Though, granted, there's a varactyl quest for MCH...

True but they could give us a few new skins from the new planets!!! people are getting tired of the same old skins we have had forever now. all other crafting proffesions have had new items added to thier lists in the way of loot schems and such we should to!

Golly, this is TRULY be careful what you ask for. Kiv - I quoted the thread ... and added my comments (/sob)



Top Issues:





1. dna storage (laboratory, blood, freezer, droid,etc.)


dor note: fixed - by reducing the variability in different animals by taking out the special attacks and resistances and dumbing down the profession, we no longer have any need to store entire libraries of DNA but can make do with a few packs of DNA from about 5 different animals, to make everything we need.


2. more variety in craftable creatures (new skins, colors, sizes)


dor note: fixed - by giving us sizes that change with the combat level of the creature, we can now custom make the size of the animal - assuming we are willing to have the combat level subject to that size as a minor inconvience. We also can custom make size of non-CH pets by having a CH freeze them at whatever size they like up to the max (tiny) level 10 size. We also continue to have new colors in that many of the colors do not stick on pet deeds so it is a surprise when they are tamed.



3. more high level sampleable creatures added to game (also the apparent CL sampling cap)


dor note: fixed - we now have elite animals that give us 1000 value DNA - they are not higher level but they do make more powerful animals. Deeds now appear to be sampleable higher than level 75.


4. some method for hitting target CLs more easily (CL displayed during experimentation, CL limits, experimenting status down, etc.)


dor note: by making the pet making simple, they have dumbed it down enough that we are able to calculate this with some reasonable accuracy ourselves. An add-on display would be nice though since the BE tool isn't always accurate.


5. creature donor's name listed on dna sample in inventory


dor note: fixed - by not needing so many DNA samples, just use one pack for each animal and rename the pack






6. tissue ingredients vs desirability balance


dor note: by breaking the usefulness of many of the higher end tissues, the need for hard to getresources is less. For example, myoflex tissues are no longer needed so we do not need to collect eggs anymore.


7. different damage types for BE pets


dor note: any comments on this?


8. creature warping (including upwards) during sampling & milking


dor note: this still happens but is slightly fixed in that we aren't always ableto sample an animal, thus avoiding the warping problem.


9. more tailor and chef tissues


dor note: we did get more tailor tissues, we just got some taken away .... and the new ones are broken. So i guess we really have less than before. But at least they are a bit different.


10. The CL 10 problem


dor note: well, thatone is sure fixed. By making BE level 10's not as desirable as reward animals and tamed wild's ... by making them not grow .... by making the formula simple so that you cannot get 10K health level 10s anymore at all.
