Thread: Something to look forwards to, Talth is going to need our help with this

I spent a long time last night talking with Talthazar about what he's doing at the moment and generally saying that with all these bugs we had either fixed or in the process of being fixed the devs really have nothing to say to us and we have nothing more to ask them. However we know that the professions shouldn't be coming to a standstill and we need to be looking forwards now to where we go from here. Talth agreed here that it's better to pre-empt the devs who are in the next 2 months have their droid expansion stuff finished and be looking towards what 'themes' to have for the following patches and we stand a better chance for expansion of our ideas if we already have discussed things with the devs through the corresespondant system. He's got alot on his plate these coming months, apart from this BE Guide guide he wants to start working on Thundrheart has also asked him for a draft to write up for this Advanced Player guide they're going to do as a Friday feature and wants to know details which need to be covered for that. Put simply there's going to be alot of discussions about very specific ideas to improve the profession so if you have a fresh and new idea now is the time to voice it because Talth will be asking us which ideas we like and from the popular it will be a case of establishing an order of priority since they can't all be done at once.

The key thing here is to focus on specifics, new ideas aren't just saying 'we want more clones' because that simply is bound to happen and I'm sure we all have more pressing concerned and thoughts of things which will make a greater improvement to the profession. One of the most popular ideas around here which Talth also likeswas the Blood Sampling system which will be used to solve our issue of dna storage, the need for maskscent to gather dna and of course benefits the game by significantly lowering database strain as peoeple won't be storing loads of unique dna samples. So that will be something I'll be doing another write up on for the new folks who aren't familar with the concept. Ideas for increasing the amount of meat available to us will be wanted as well, I know we'd all like to have an easier time making tissues and food additives and to be fair it's hard enough as it is to mass produce such things. There have been whispers from the devs who are thinking about this issue so they are going to be receptive to new ideas now.

Put your thinking caps on folks, it's time to think about our future.

OK, this idea is neither huge nor revolutionary but I think we should be able to deed up pets. This idea has many uses. Planning on retiring a pet that has given been loyal and brave. Don't just want to get rid of the pet pet? Bring him to your local BE who can deed up the pet. You can then place the pet in your house as a statue. Looking to buy a "tamed" and "trained" non-ch pet? BE makes it, takes it to a CH for training, gets it trained and then puts it back into deed form and places it on a vendor. Also valuable for allowing the sale of grown pets like mounts. Grow it to full size, mount train it and theen deed it up again. Now you can sell mount ready pets on your vendor. Maybe have a restriction there that the pet has to have been transfer trained to be able to be deeded up.

I can see a problem with re-deeding pets. I'm a horrible master and I keep sending Fluffy after uber critters. Fluffy gets tanked everytimeand his vitality goes to 47. I take him to my local BE and say, "re-deed this please." I then tame the deed. I have a new born baby all over again. How do you distinguish the vitality of the critter? Poof insta heal? Re-train and Fluffy is good to go again.

Selling trained pet deeds is a nice idea in theory.I don't think it works in practice. It really doesn't change the process any. You still have to take the animal to a creature handler. All you've done is added an extra step. Re-deed the animal. The animal has to be retrained anyway so it can be named. You've not really gained anything.

I'm not flaming the ideas just so you know. Just being devil's advocate to broaden the discussion.

Simple and too the point. Give me a fishing net andcreate a better way to determinecreature level. Those two items alone and I'd be thrilled.

Its impossible to get people to fish on a regular basis. I'll stand on the bank of a river and fling a net all day long if I know I'm actually getting a good return on the time I spend doing it. Basically its like blaming yard trash all day long trying to get enough resources to do a factory run. At 4 units per animal I can get enough but it takes forever and geez its boring as heck. Actually I think I can get more units of yard trash in less time than I can get fish.

Its impossible to determine what a valid animal is and what isn't. A bandwidth that says betweenx amount of HAM plus these resists plus this amount of damage equals this critter level. Its a video game. It shouldn't be rocket science. Make it challenging and fun. Don't make it a job. I already have one of those.

Future content - NPC missions for additional schematics. I don't mean just pets either. Just like the mollusk finder let me run some super hard mission that gives me new tissues or amechanoid human. Let the super rare resources go to build those tissues or pets so they aren't all over the market. Make the missions fun and plentiful. Give us a mission terminal. Get BE's involved in actually playing the game instead of just supporting the game.

Well first off I have to say the be system of making pets SUCKS, I mean look at the other professions, for instance weapon smith, they know how much damage and range their rifle has before they complete it. With us we have to go through alot of math to just get a hint at what we are making....THIS SUCKS. It needs to be addressed, any more other be's and my self have given up on trying to figure out the system, it just takes too much freaking time, and some of us have a life out side of cyber space. Now with space on the horizon, I have seen in the starwars books be ships. It would add a lot to the profession if we could make these.

I don't know if this idea is too new, but it's new to me...NPC clones. I'd figure that you'd be able to create em just like regular clones, create a Generic DNA Template, then throw it in a skin, Human, Wookiee, Bith, Ithorian, Gungan. They wouldn't be tameable, but would be used only as furniture. It would be nice to have some level of customization, sex, color, maybe height and weight too. Maybe for height, you can make 3 options (tall, short or avg), so if you pick tall, it would be in a certain range for that species.

Why have this? Well, for "furniture". Ever notice how some player stores, cantina's, even cities look pretty empty. Well, now, you can contract your local BE to make some clones, to help populate your store. Issues of clothing come to mind, and what clothes to give em, and how. Maybe have an option similar to how merchants cloth their vendors, or you can make it as optional components when you do the final combine (i.e. DNA Template, Flora, Meat, and then n optional clothing slots). You could even make em decay like the candles in publish 7.

I'd like to see a BE-specific weapon, a tranq-rifle (or pistol, or both for varied ranges, etc.). This would render a creature A) unattackable (for exploit reasons) and B) non-aggressive for a set amount of time (perhaps the amount of time it takes to run a bit and execute 2 samples). You could not use this weapon against a creature already in combat or under a DoT attack. This weapon would have no effect against sentient species or other players (similar to traps).

A couple obvious requests include a wider color palette (we should be able to create unnatural colors. Bioluminescence would be cool but probably a nightmare to program) and more clones. I'll be a little disappointed if the Geonosian lab goes live without the chance to get an Acklay or Reek schematic. Anyone on TC know if there's any BE love in there?

A much more ambitious request would be the ability to alter the size of creatures, perhaps some other physical traits as well.

An interesting animation for DNA sampling, please. Perhaps a DNA sampling tool? I'd love to be able to get a tool that would allow me to sample creatures higher than CL70 (but we should be able to sample CL100 already, right Tal?).

More tailor tissues. Neuromuscular stimulators: increase run speed/burst run speed/reduce burstrun cooldown period.

The ability to create a special attack tissue and incorporate it into a clone. Something like an optionaltissue slot on the cloning window.

The ability to drop cloning centers in cities.

More to come, I'm sure.

My thought was that it would retain both its vitality and its age. So it would be full grown if you had grown it and any vitality loss would remain. (You would there for need to display the vitality in the deed form. Maybe even impose a 1 vitality cost to the pet for being redeeded. This may overcome any ideas of this being used as an exploit to be able to have too large a stable of tamed pets.)

Not all of my customers care about having there pet renamed. (Some do I agree) and the ability to sell a mount which is rideable day 1 out of a vendor is a huge deal as far as I can tell. Especially when people can get vehicles which are rideable day 1 and faster to boot.

Thank you. I think we should iron out as many of the holes as we can before we present them them to the devs. Your just allowing me to strengthen the idea before its presented.

Bionics - a definite possibility with very interesting potential.

Re-Deeding pets - two possibilities, one, PERMA redeed- the pet is no longer tamable, though it is otherwise just the same as any pet deed, retaining the name and coloration, etc. Second possibility, re-deeded pets have a 12-24 hour "thaw" or "revivification" period. That would eliminate the possible objection to a CH carrying a dozen re-deeded full grown pets to be called out and used as needed.

New Clones - A definite - we need flying species, snakes, and something a little more like a "house pet" than a jax or a choku.

New mounts - about time.

New Tissues - some possibility here as well; the strength enhancing(+damage), endurance enhancing (reduce HAM cost of specials/actions/burst run), and other similar ideas bear investigating.

DNA Storage - How about a DNA Freezer module for a DE to install in a droid, 100-150 sample capacity, similar to a droid data storage module, but specialized to store only DNA samples. That would add DNA storage without increasing our inital inventory capacity or reducing the difficulty/danger of sampling.

Tranq gun - I like this idea - make the mob non-agressive for a short period (possibly based on the ferocity of the mob), possibly requiring "loading" with tranq darts crafted by a scout or other similar profession, or using a crafted material that we must collect. Schematic could be a quest reward to be given to a weaponsmith or artisan, depending on the level of the "gun" and usable only with scout skills (which are a pre-req for us anyway)

I was shopping the other day and saw a shirt that had plus defense to poison.. I think new Tailor tissues for posion and disease resistance would be great... Or maybe a tissue that has the effect of threaten shot when you are first aggroed,, i.e. they run away long enough to equip armor if you are in civilian clothes or to pull your bike if you are on foot, then they return to attack. 1 use per aggro might work.

First off, i love MSPO's idea with bionicles things, maybe we should be able to get the sambles froma "BIO factory". I think it should be race specific. If you grow a human implant, a mon calambri cant use it.

And what is a Bio factory ? Well thats a lab Placed by ussers, just like the usual crafting stations just a building cause BE reseach take bigger machines then crafting a deed

I dont think its right , that were down to using the Chef and Doctors crafting station! So we build this lab, i dont know what size would be cool, but im thinking like 2 sizes, nr 1 is about a small house, and nr 2 is a large . ( Nr 2 deed could be a BE quest from some new lab somewhere, like do this mission and get schematic to your new lab )

Anyway, in this lab you can :

1) Grow your bionicles implants.

2) Store you DNA in massive computers - And we should be able to acces those computers in our crafting tool, so we can see stats just by pressing, and able to move it to the crafting tool by double click ! We should be able to create and deleate catalogs and name them. Our personal DNA computer is not like safty deposit,,we have to go to the lab to accesour samples . And only one computer pr. lab! With up to 5-10 administators.

3) Grow npc clones. Those could be factional, so the imps create Storm troopers. ( of cause, growing non factional NPC clones would be illegal, and therefore a subject for the GCW crackdown ) ( and only squard leaders should be able to use NPC's, just like a CH )

4) Syncronize your meat! So i can mix up alot of diferent carnivore meat, and puff, come out with alot of the same type of meat!

5)Grow fish ? ( dont know about this really :/ )

6) Maybe, in some way, Droid engineers and doctorsshould have some reason to visit this place? ( dont know about this one neither)

Comments :Bionicles shouldent require any sampling work from the BE, it should just take some special meat types, like good buff packs does...Maybe in some way the Droid engineer should have some slots to add things in the Bionicles and in the NPC's?? I also think the stun rifle is a bad idea, im a mon calambri, a scientist, i dont do weapons, if we should have any of sutch, it should be some sort of injection, like if you complete injecting something into the pet , it will loose agro? Unfortunatly, this means cutting the WS out of the loop.. But then it could be the Doctors who made this stuff?

AND i think there should be a penalty from using bionicles and tissue, like, i get shot by a electricity or ion rifle, i get a few billion watts though my body, and well, i walk away.. Myfriend have bionicle inplants and tissue inplants, so well, the tissue starts to explode and the bionicle goes nuts , this could be worked out by a state like:

-15% elec resist

-25% ion resist

I think one really good place to start is to dreg up some of the old threads. We had a really good thread a while back where people brainstormed new tissue ideas. Whoever created the tissues made an obvious attempt to make tissues that were specific to just about every class but there are a few glaring ommissions. Artisan is one. I think someone proposed (and I'm not going to take credit for it) stuff like surveying skill bonus, or maybe artisan assembly or experimentation bonus tissues. Then there were a ton of other good ideas for combat ones that wouldn't be rediculously overpowering.

Folks we need this to be constructive not a chance to rant, the devs will only be interested in properly considered ideas not rants. saying something 'sucks' and needs to be changed is a rant, say how you want it changed and why you feel that would be beneficial. Use proper logic to develop an idea not arbitary judgements.
