Bio-engineer is unlike any other crafting profession in SWG. Rather than a fixed schematic, we have a SINGLE schematic, for a generic DNA template, with which we make every creature, from the lowliest gnort to the mightiest Kimogila.

How we make those creatures is dependent on one thing; our own effort, experience and accumulated knowledge.

We share that knowledge quite freely here. Most of the BEs that are active in the forum are long-term players, with a real interest in the profession and the willingness to learn that makes them so successful. IF you take the time to read, starting with reading the FAQ, from one end to the other, and search the forums, chances are very good you will learn how to do just about anything a BE can do, and to make pets that most be's on your server will see either with congratulations at your fine work, or envy at how much better you can do than they can without making that effort. You will find very friendly and intelligent people here, more than willing to talk over different types of approaches to the things you want to do, and share their solutions to similar problems.

What you will not find is a cookbook. There are recipes posted all through the forum, as a way of comparing what we have learned and found out about one type or another. What you will not find is people willing to read them to you.

All of us that participate in the forum respect those others that do so as well, and we share as equals. We also respect the work it takes to develop a repeatable, reliable recipe for one or another type of creature, be it by level, specials, or other stats that suit it to a purpose we need to fill. All of us, or nearly so, also get repeatedly asked for the secret to the uber this or that, so that from day one with the master title you can begin to crank out pets. Pets that are the result of someone else's investigation, experimentation, experience and participation, without a care as to the community that made it possible to do so.

Depending on who feels one way or the other, you will likely receive a stony silence, or a less than pleasant reply. You will pretty much never be handed the keys to the kingdom. For the most part, we're just likely to offer our sincere hopes that the door does not hit you in the ass on the way out...

Take the time to read. ALL of us that could answer your question have. That's how we learned. Then we added to the understanding of the community by contributing our opinions and our experiences. The answers you want are here, and an entire community of people as interested and as willing to help as you could ever want to meetwillhelp you understand and learn and succeed.

LMAO .... Kudos LLan ... the worst part is those that do post the "how do i make XXX?" threads don't read enough on here and will probably miss your message But i sure hope it reaches some of the holo grinders and others who seem to know next to nothing about BE. Nearly everyday I get someone requesting a pet with this, that and the other and they expect me to go, "OK wait 10 seconds and I will make it for you." Like it is in my back pocket. "WHAT?!?!? you can't make a class 23 with 60% Kinetic 60% Energy Lt armor and 10k ham with dizzy and intimidate? Well why not?" I wish everyone could make a pet just once ... from start to finish, from having to track down specific creatures to sample, to hitting the mouse button and hoping the class comes out right

Disgusting. This post does not deserve a sticky. This used to be a place people could come to ask questions. Instead of making an elitist "go away we don't want you" post, how about actually contributing to make this information more readily available? We sure don't need to turn this "community" into a haven for board snobs.

The FAQ has a 14 page thread on creature recipes if people just took the time to read it.

So make a sticky to that effect. This "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" post is offensive and sets a poor tone for the board. We do not need to portray ourselves as elitist snobs.

I guess its all a matter of interpretation - I dont read it in that tone at all.
I really dont think more stickies linking to stickies is going to help at all.

How can you not read it that way? "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" is a quote from the post. And the clear implication is that we're not here to spoon feed people. The previous poster makes a good point too. The Lithium search stinks and more often than not does not offer up the information you are looking for. Besides, what is this if not a sticky pointing to the FAQ sticky?

Are you denying that many requests for recipe help - particularly 'uber' pets get the 'dont let the door hit your ass on the way out' treatment from a lot of the people here?

Sadly no, I'm not denying it. I'm saying that the tone of this board is changing lately and setting that in stone in a sticky at the top of the board is a bad thing. This is supposed to be a place where people can come to for help. You know, I was fine with the first three paragraphs. It degenerates rapidly from there. If you want a sticky that tells people to read the faq and do some research fine, I'm ok with that. Just do it in a little more respectful manner.

I agree with this post being stickied

I am all for helping new BEs learn the ropes. In fact, I feel that this community excelsin thatcategory.

However, when a newbie BE comes onto this board with the sole expectation of asking some of us "old timers" to give them a step by step recipe to making a highquality pet I feel insulted. They obviously have no interest in playingand learning this profession when their very first post here is, "How can I make....".

I would be willing to bet that 9 times out of 10 they are holo grinders who will, if taught how to make these pets, turn around and sell them for 10k-20k or less.

This post being skicked does not preclude one from asking the question. It just states a fact that most of us arent going to run into their threads and lay down recipes. It basically states that we will help you learn how to love and play this profession but we will **not** spoon feed you information that took many of us hours to learn just so you can turn around, after 8hrs of grinding, and drive our market into the ground.

I think this is an excellent post and I applaud our correspondent for putting it up for all to see.

/salute

I admit I didnt read this thoroughly this morning when i got up but I still think that if more people were to take the advice in the thread then there would be a lot less flaming on the forum and a lot more friendly discussion and helpful advice.
Maybe we should start another sticky for the veterens
