I'm "sampling" the BE profession right now, just to see how it fits me (currently 1-4-4-1 BE). Its actually a lot more versatile than I had imagined. What really interests me is its role in the economy. If you have a moment, look through and reply to some of these questions.
1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
Thx in advance for any feedback.

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
On average I think I spend about 60% of my time on BE related things.
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
90%
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
Yes (MBE, Creature Handler, Carbineer)
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
I don't usually gather meat on my own, but I gather all other resources (floral, chem, etc)
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
I carry all 4 of our lines. The tissues, chef additives, and petstims sell the best. I makes pets because I enjoy making them. From a pure cost perspective pets are the most profitable (but require the most time commitement)I think Chef additives are thenext mostprofitable, followed by tailor tissues, and petstims/vitality kits.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
I have a vendor alt that I use.
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
I have a business partnership with a chef for the additives who keeps me busy. But for the other components I think I sell at a steady rate and I can usually keep up with it.
Thx in advance for any feedback.

If you can harvest the resources on your own, tailor tissues are extremely profitable. Try to set up a partnership with some, can be hard to keep up with the demand though.

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
Atleast 50%
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
100%
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
It is his only profession. Might pick up ranger and part of merchantthough.
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
I harvest everything for myself
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
Pets, Tissues, Chef additives, Pet Stims. I sell pets mainly, 95% custom orders.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
I have a shop with my own vendors
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
For tissues, keeping up with demand is tough, and pet stims its finding buyers. I do have some regulars that always buy pet stims from me.
Thx in advance for any feedback.

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)? Hard to say, I hunt a ton, but I gather resources while doing that.. Maybe 70% of time doing related stuff. The other 30 is spent on like the geo cave/PvP and the like.
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)? 90% of it. I used to make money selling meat to grinders and BE's. But since I became master I can't keep enough meat around for my own uses.
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession? Yes and no. I love BE< and do it for fun, but I also am Master TKA and don't think I could survive without combat. So that one is a tuffy.
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
I gather near all my resources myself. I generally have 3 heavy flora running and I hunt all the time. I must admit that I will pay for exceptional flora, and wood (wood is so minute in my making that I just pay for it.) And on occasion I pay guildies a nominal fee when they bring me 20k stacks of meat
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
I carry them all. I must say that pets don't sell well, and thus I ave drasticly cut my prices... even for the highest level skins and pets. I can't keep stock on my chef supplies... a batch never lasts more than 2 days on my vendor. And tailor supplies are routed straight to my tailor business partners.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
I have a vendor. Though I find Pet Stims sell better on the bazarr... and I spend a lot of time delivering factory runs of chef nutrients
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
Keeping up wth demand on chef and tailor stuff... But finding dedicated buyers for pet stuff.
Thx in advance for any feedback.

1) What percentage of your time in-game do you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
At least 70% of time (but its going to stop, because I hate it and it making me stress doing BE)
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
about 80% When i make Bio-Tissues they sell like hot cakes (well most do)
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
No
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
80%
No
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
80%
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which of the 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues) do you carry, andwhy? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
At the mo some Tailor tissues are selling like nobodys business
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
I got 2 vendors and also sell on the bazaar (pet stims mostly)
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
Keeping up with demand with some tissues as they need rare resouces to use (and getting a 1000 tells a day can be a problem)

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
- Maybe 10-50%, varies alot and depends on your point of view. I am a chef too, so I consider the whole food making process the same.
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
- My BE/Food I consider the same, so 50%, although that is mixed with the chef stuff.
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
- One of my characters main profession, yes.
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
- I harvest most of my flora, I buy all my meat.
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
- Chef tissues are cash cows, hands down. Pets I sell pretty ready due to a high CH population where I live, lucky in that reguard, but only if they are good pets. Tailor tissues I give to free to the local tailor. Pet stims sell on a regular basis as do vitality packs.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
- Vendor
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
- Demand due to slow factory production times and harvesting resources. That is for chef food though. All other products are slow enough sellers to keep up with. People are just pigs in this game and eat a ton of food.

Fern, I hope my response can help you in your decision on whether or not to be a TRUE BE, rather than a dabbler. I consider myself to be a true BE the meaning of which i thiink will be made evident by my responses to your questions.

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
I spend 100% of my time being a BE, either sampling DNA, crafting creatures or harvesting resources needed to make BE tissues.
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
Again 100% of my income is generated by BE activities
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
BE is my main profession and the only profession I ever had or will consider. My other skill points are spent in Ranger, to boost my chances or finding and sampling specific creatures, Artisan, for the survey skills, Creature Handler, for the obvious reason of using what i make and a few medic skills to help delay the incap when i get aggro'ed when sampling.
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
As a BE I harvest all my own non-organic resources, however because I have no combat skills it is prohibitive for me to gather my own meat. The time it takes me to kill the small creatures I even have the skills to kill takes much more time than I am willing to spend harvestign such a small amount if meat. I am easily able to obtain meat by trading for it or buyin it in bulk.
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
I specialize in pets myself, specifically NON-CH. I do make CH pets also but the market is so much smaller I feel my time is better spent in making LVL 10 and below. As for the tissues i will make or sell schematics mostly not the tissues themselves. Experimenting with dna to manipulate attributes, strengths and characterisitcs is what drew me to BE in the first place and what I like most about the profession.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
I use neither the bazaar or the vendor system. I carry my pets around with me and conduct my transaction face-to-face. I do this because I believe most players do not have a good understanding of what BE can and cannot do. However I have recently considered putting up a vendor for when i am off-line.
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
I believe that the biggest problem seems to be havign exactly what the customer wants when they want it. I always have pet deed made and available and I always have customers asking for pets, but i don't always have what they want right when they want it.
Thx in advance for any feedback
Hope it helps

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
About 50%, unless you count the time I spend grinding med crafting so that I can get master doc and make my own advanced med components for my pet meds, and the amount of time I spend grouped with friends so that I can get meat, in which case, 100% of the time I spend on Etienne is spent on the BE profession.
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
Right now, 0%. I do not consider my stuff good enough to sell yet. If you count missions that I get and then sample-kill the critters on while I am gathering DNA, then 100%
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
Along with Doctor, yes. They take up roughly equal amounts of time.
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
Alll of it. Having only recently gotten Master BE, I am currently in the process of gathering quality resources. I get my waypoints for my harvesters (and sometimes lots) from my other account.
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
Not selling yet.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
Will be using a vendor. Again, this will be on my other account. There are not enough points to master doc, BE, get 4040 scout (for the mask scent) and do *anything* else.
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
can't really answer. Hopefully it will be keeping up with demand
Thx in advance for any feedback.

1) What percentage of your time in-gamedo you spend doing BE-related things (sampling, crafting BE stuff)?
At the moment probably about 20-30%
2) What percentage of your average weekly income comes from BE-related skills (selling pets or BE products)?
<10% - Although you should note im only (4-2-3-3) and so I havent begun mass production of bio components. At the moment I make, train, mount and then sell non-ch pets (mostly bantha) for 10k a piece which works out nicely considering im only using gorg / zucca boar / rile dna. HAM, attack etc isnt terribly important if you're only selling mounts, although it has helped sales in the past when they have had resists and higher HAMs. I have also made some mid-range pets (lvl 20-30) which I've sold a couple of.
3) Do you consider BE your character's 'main' profession?
No, master TKA is my main profession at the moment and I make most of my money from hunting storm troopers (tattoine) and rancors (dath).
4) If you make BE-goods, what percentage of the resources do you gather yourself (meat, harvestors)?
At the moment all of them, although when I run low and desperately need some more I know a few rangers / hunters who can set me up with a certain type of organic resource.
5) If you make & sell BE-goods, which ofthe 4 major BE sellables (pets, pet supplies, chef tissues, tailor tissues)do you carry, and why? Which are most profitable, and which do you sell the most of?
I answered this before, but atm only pets. I rarely sell pet supplies.
6) If you make & sell BE-goods, do you have a vendor or use the Bazaar system?
No vendor (no skill points) and the bazaar limits are kinda restrictive. I basically just spam busy towns
7) If you make & sell BE-goods, which do you find to be more of a problem: finding buyers, or keeping up with demand?
Finding buyers... no one wants my junk
Thx in advance for any feedback.
