New message on TC.. kiss those low level uber pets goodbye.

That message already exists in game. Old baby-DNA pets return "Invalid stats" when trying to summon them.... but! I hope you're posting this meaning that the uber non-CH pets are returning that message.

Yes, I made a couple of them for testing and they have nowbeen rendered invalid... just never saw that message before myself, thought it was new.

BTW, I had a CL10 and a CL15, both returned the invalid message, not sure what the min level for them is, may go out tomorrow and see if I can still make them at all and nail down the point at which they become invalid... or if they can still be made at all.

Hopefully Kel gives us some dang info on this.... it is the fear of a lot of us that we're going to see pets (like your CL15) get hit with this tagging also. Wish I could copy to Test to try this out and help

good, maybe it will stop the mass to go BE as it is now.

Just a question tho, do you still drop the CL by 50% when you put crap critters DNA in aggro / mind?

If not, uber no ch pet will still be doable.

I know I spam the board with that, but I'd rather see them fix that issue than being called an exploiter because the cloning system is so flawed.

Ok.. an update and this is not real good.

It appears that the Picket / Bol recipe to make 1st gen CL 10 pets also makes invalid pets.. this bites, I have sold a ton of those.

So if I interpret this correctly, we will be in the position of making a pet, selling it to a customer and it's not until the pet has been tamed that anyone will know if it's invalid? The only thing worse would be if it only became invalid once full grown.

Outstanding work (not you TouYuan, but the developer :smileywink. Here's hoping this is only a first pass at the problem and the fix will become more sophisticated.

Thankfully, I haven't touched the non-CH market.. have some recipes, but was waiting for this fix before going there.

Despite the obvious non-CH critters, what's the cut off between invalid and valid? I've made a good score of lvl 34's & 35's w/ AR1 and 60% kinetic, good remaining resists, vuln to stun and maybe something else and some nice lvl 23's with good damage, high resists(no armor), and varied specialsso thatMCH's can lay down 6 specials on a single target.. Am concerned where the line is being drawn sinceit's up toSoE entirely as to what is an acceptable pet or not. If they kill all of my personal combinations that don't use the wonky DNA but a bit of 2nd gen DNA liberally mixed in, I'll be out of the pet business in a day. Or universally despised by my customers, same result.

Anyone on TC found a level that is acceptable for armor, or 10K HAM, etc? Wish this didn't feel so much like a beta at times..

*shrug* I wasn't intending on ragging them, just pointing out one of their short falls in an otherwise strong lineup. They can't be expected to improve if they can't/don't/won't accept constructive critique or if others don't allow people do so.

SOE have made some of my all time favorite games, the only place that lets them down on being truely great is customer communication, true communication (Communication, noun: 1; The activity of communicating; the activity of conveying information. 2; Something that is communicated by or to or between people or groups 3; A connection allowing access between persons or places). One of the short falls is SOE don't trust us enough to communicate information. They are worried what some of us might do with that information.

To their credit, they HAVE improved from the bad old days of Verant with Brad and Abashi, so they do get a tick for trying at least. They also appear to be continuing to try and improve, so another plus to them. Are they there yet? No.

One of my favorite game development companies (Turbine) has around 1000% more client communication skills than SOE. If SOE were really serious about communication they'd show us a bit more respect, discuss with/tell us what the bugs/exploits are, not a "How to", more a "There is an issue with X, anyone found ignoring this warning and trying to do X will be banned", put it in the launcher as well as the boards and get on with their job. Turbine devs have actually found solutions to some pretty sticky issues from FANS! (no pun intended). That gives an idea of the level of communication involved there. They also had a policy of "They are our bugs, not yours, we accept responsibility" up until not so long ago where people didn't get banned for exploiting bugs. Even I felt that was too lienient, and thankfully they now ban people that _knowingly_ exploit defects in the code. They have the balance almost perfect now.

As things are with our current system here, no one is sure if they are exploiting the games systems to maximum benifit (good) or exploiting bugs in the system (bad).

Exploiting the games systems ("Use or manipulate to one's advantage") is what MAKES Galaxies a game. The game is to learn those systems, become good at them, then use that knowledge to your advantage. SOE has always had trouble understanding that and declared that "anyone playing the game not in a way intended by SOE" was "exploiting bugs".

Clause 12 is a great example of the thinking:

"12. You will not exploit any bug in Star Wars Galaxies, and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug either directly or through public posting, to any other Sony Station member. You will promptly report such bugs via the /bug command in-game or by emailing [email protected]. Exploitable bugs include, but are not limited to bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits in-game."

I have no problem with the "spirit" of what they are trying to achieve with this. I hate people exploiting code defects as much as the next guy. The part I have a problem with is "grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits in-game". They DON'T explain, ever, what is "natural and intended" until after the fact (and maybe not even then). They just expect us to "know". How the heck can we "know" when the devs won't tell us how the game is "intended" to run and what is "natural"? Once again, yes, some things are obviously "unintended" and "unnatural" like duping, but where do we, as BE's, stand when it comes down to it? _Are_ the only "unnatural" pets the "super10's"? _Is_ AR1 on level 20 pets "intended"? _Could_ people get banned for these?

We can debate what the devs "intended" till space collapses, but until _they_ tell us, we really don't know (though there are plenty that will try and say "I know what the Devs intended" I'll wager, and in _some_ cases they'll obviously be right, but they won't be right in _all_ cases).

This may read as a rant, but it isn't, it's more a plea to the "powers that be" to consider a few other options and to think about things. If even 2 people read this and take something with them it's been worthwhile.

My apologies for going so long, but this is a subject I feel deserves more than a two-line smart answer. I wasn't sure if it was the right forum for it, but as it applies to BE's "right here, right now" I feel it is.

I get invalid on almost every pet I've made that used any CL lowering method. On Bol/Piket combination where I used the crap DNA to lower the CL in mind slot, 2nd generation clones with lower than natural CL'sand all pets made using nocous kam DNA in any positions.

Basically, 3/4 of my pets have been rendered useless.

My level 34-35's using Battlelords appear ok, ditto with the higher level 50's and such.

Well, although this needed addressed - now, by rushing out a system partially tested, they now have to go back and FIX it like it should have been, meanwhile back at the ranch - there is now thousands of creatures that I'll wager have no way to tell at all which are valid and which are invalid thereby producing thousands of angry customers.

Ummm, I wouldn't call this a bandaid - it's making an already poor situation worse.

Guess I'll go pull off every critter I've made from my vendor since there probably isn't a way to tell, grrrrr - and I stayed away from Kamurith DNA for that very reason.

A pet tradein program I would have thought would have been much better considering we know they CAN do that - to normalize stats and at least leave the pet useable.

I'm still looking for an official 'range' or formula of what is acceptable and what's not. We 'fixed' it so noninvalid pets just isn't good enough with a system this complex I'm willing to bet there are still a ton of loopholes OR that we are right back to square one - just with a few more skins to work with.

I'd say the piket DNA was also "bugged" (or brought out some flaw in the CL calculation) - I took five samples of picket (CL 30, 9500 HAM) and created a first generation level 14 with at least 6K HAMI don't recall if I experimented or not, but I was surprised to see the CL cut in half.
