Thread: Chef Additive Pricing

I know we have 4 trillion pricing threads around here, but I havnt seen this one yet.

So what are you guys charging/going to charge for the new chef additives? I have 2 basic considerations.

#1 The good ones (heavies) generally take more resources to make than your average clothing tissue. Therefore, should they cost more than clothing tissues?

#2 The chef food is consumable, it isnt a permanent bonus like clothing, therefore food generally tends to go for a lower price. Therefore, should they cost less that clothing tissues?

I am currently selling clothing tissues at 250 per skill plus per tissue, so a +15/+15 active bio-sensor would go for 7500 per tissue. I have a hard time imagining selling an intelligent nano-nutrient giving a 125% bonus to a food's effect for that much, even though it takes more total resources.

What do you guys think?

Well, I think that since the resource requirements are pretty similar between chef and tailor tissues, that there is no way I would sell chef additives for less than I sell tailor tissues. Why in the world would I do that?

I also think that even with a ranger alt who hunts a lot, and buying up every single scrap of meat I can on the bazar, my output is not likely to go above 4-5 crates a week realistically. I just don't think these additives were thought out very well, and clearly they didn't listen to our feedback which has been for MONTHS now, that these chef additives simply contain too much creature resources.

We are certainly in kind of a bind here, what with additives being both resource-heavy AND consumable. Every chef I've spoken to wants CRATES of additives. Now, even charging the going cpu for just the ingredients required to make a crate of 25 would be almost prohibitively expensive...I have no idea what the chefs would then charge for the final product. I would guess food with additives will be 3x non-enhanced food.

I'm thinking we'll have to take a Wal-Mart approach. We will sell much more additives for less profit than our clothing tissues. Personally, i'll just have to weigh how much my time is worth.

I looked in the Chef forum last night and decided I am not going to make Chef tissues. Most chefs sell only crates of their products, hence they need crates from us. They want tissues in the hundreds.SinceI need my factories forall the other things that we make and those donot needa large run of items, I am only going to make schematics for chefs and let them use their factories time. For those who dont know, you'll need a data droid for this. It can be done through the bazaar too, but I prefer the droid method. I'm planning on charging 10K per schematic, a number mentioned on the Chef forum for such a service.

Im a master Chef and with the help of a BE guild mate I had a Schematic made up for the Intelligent Nanonutrients(?) (the Heavy nutrition additive). I ran off 10 crates which was still running after 18 hours in the factory. My estimate of pricing is the same as yours about 3x the cost of the food it is added to. Resource requirements for these additives is insane, to run off 1000 tissues I need 55,000 organic, 35,000 floral and 20,000 creature food. (and this is the easiest one to make). On top of that once its done I have to add 20 units of water per tissue and run it thru a factory again to get the final food additive. Using a 10 cpu price for you, A chef would be paying 27,500 per crate for these. im not sure how many chef's are interested in paying that kind of money. But i could easily see paying 15k a crate myself. Although if the demand for food with these additives becomes great enough, then I will be forced to pay upwards of 30k a crate (and I will).

Personally I think this revamp is going to make a lot of chefs become BE tissue dabblers. we can buy the meat and harvest the rest. A new common template for BE might be 0-3-0-4, especially if the food additives are priced to high or if the BE community is more intererested in making Creatures instead of food additives (btw nothing wrong with that).

Well thats my 2 creds worth on this topic.

As a master Chef, I would gladly pay you 10k for a schematic. I would even go so far as to pay you 10k per level of the additive. So 10k for light, 20k for medium and 30k for heavy. Any BE's on Bria that are interested look me up.

The quantity or resources required for chef tissues, the difficulty obtaining them, and the fact that they are consumable lead me to believe that they aren't even worth my time to make. If some chefs out there would like to through ingredients into a factory I'd be glad to sell them schematics at the 10k cost mentioned above. But, as a master bio engineer I'd rather spend my time breeding creatures and making useful clothing tissues for guild members.

my 2 cents.

10k for a shematic is insane and ruin our whole class.... maybe i should ask an armorsmith to make me some shematics and then go to make some millions with it..... no armorsmith will do such a thing, so why should WE give OUR business out of our hands ?

to answer the main question : i am selling the boosters for 15cpu of ressources right now (800-1600 per item) and chefs paying that price. thats a fair deal for both sides.

Well, as everyone knows, you can sell good quality meat for 20cpu on the bazar all day long and it will sell out instantly. You can also sell good flora for 5cpu the same way. So there comes a point where if your end product isn't worth as much as the materials themselves, that it's pointless making the end product.

Just for comparison's sake, lets compare against probably our best selling tissue, the active bio sensor. Judging by the endless pricing threads we have here on this forum, a reasonable (say +14) bio sensor generally sells for between 2.5k and 3.5k/tissue. It requires 55 meat and 25 flora. If you were to use the 10cpu pricing on this tissue, it would sell for 800cr which is not even one-third of the price. So anyone who sells chefs additives at this price, is losing the opportunity to make 3x more using those same materials making tailor tissues instead.

Hehe, I just thought of an idea. Since BE's and chefs use the same factories to produce our stuff, perhaps what we (BE's) should be doing when asked by a chef for a schematic is swap schematics. Want a schematic for a heavy nutrient supplement? Cool, I'll trade that to you for a schematic for Breath of Heaven

Hmmm, I just estimated the cost to the final consumer for using a BE enhanced food buff would be approximately 800-1000 credits per use, assuming the cost of the food costs ~5000 credits (2500 for the BE part, 2500 for the chef part) for a ~7 charge item. So maybe that cost will be acceptable to the end user? It doesn't seem like much money to pay considering the long duration of some of these buffs.

Expanding on Arthurs idea it would make sense if we were the ones to sell the new pet foods on our vendors where the other pet supplies are. Just an idea. (yes, I know they are prob bugged ATM) Here's to the new Chef BE relationship, I hope its as good or better than the Taylor one
