Thread: Chef Additive Pricing

Considering that it takes nearly the same amount of resources for the food that would be a fair trade. However, you would need more than one schematic to produce chef food yourself. Each chef food requires a separate factory run component. For drinks: A schematic for the drinks plus a schematic for a container (the food requires a container), plus a schematic for the additive itself (our tissues go into a chef-produced component before it can go into the food). For food you would need stuff like butter, soyapro, etc.

It really wouldn't be a 1:1 schematic trade in that respect.

Hehe, I just thought of an idea. Since BE's and chefs use the same factories to produce our stuff, perhaps what we (BE's) should be doing when asked by a chef for a schematic is swap schematics. Want a schematic for a heavy nutrient supplement? Cool, I'll trade that to you for a schematic for Breath of Heaven

Arthur what's this about 4-5 crates a week? I harvest well over 20k meat an hour, that's 50 crates of nanonutrients. People are always complaining that creature resources are too hard to get, I don't understand. I'm a tkm with the tracking tree from ranger, but any decent pve build ought to be able to pull 15k meat an hour.

Most of us are artisans of some stripe Kobodoshi - killing at that rate is the province of combat types

That said - there's nothing to stop us hiring/bribing/making friends withcombat types and organising a hunt.............

Geez, I'm a TKM also and can only manage 1500 units of meat an hour. But then again, I only have Hunting 3 in Scout.

Umm, can I hire you to get me some meat? I pay 20 cpu.

Very interesting reading but the thread so far has been producer-oriented

What I think people should bear in mind is the competitiveness of the customers.

Now say (picking numbers off the top of my head) a chef can make food without BE additives that gives a crafter +15 assembly and +15 to experimentation rolls

Suppose further that with additives those numbers go to +25/+25

Now tell me how much that additive is worth in an economy where a skill tape goes for 25 million and an armoursmith can sell 100+ suits of Comp per week for a million per suit

Similar case can be made for PvP foods, exp bonus foods and so on

Many customers are in the position of having FAR more money than they can spend

Just for comparison's sake, lets compare against probably our best selling tissue, the active bio sensor. Judging by the endless pricing threads we have here on this forum, a reasonable (say +14) bio sensor generally sells for between 2.5k and 3.5k/tissue. It requires 55 meat and 25 flora. If you were to use the 10cpu pricing on this tissue, it would sell for 800cr which is not even one-third of the price. So anyone who sells chefs additives at this price, is losing the opportunity to make 3x more using those same materials making tailor tissues instead.

I'll be working with the Master Chef in our PA and we figure his enhanced products will be probably only special order and/or restricted within our PA mainly because of the resource bottleneck for me. I'll be selling him crates of the medium nutrient and medium mass reducer for 40k and 50k per crate respectively (20 cpu for resource costs). If I have any crates left over he doesn't want or can't use at the time, I'll put them on my vendor for 120k and 150k. The lower price to him is strictly within the PA stuff.

I have figured the prices for the medium nutrient would be around 60K for a crate of 25. The medium filling will be 132K for a crate of 25. These are the prices on Radiant though. Each server is different.

The going rate for good quality creature food is 30cpu minimum. 10 cpu for awesome quality flora food/organic same resource used in both slots. Plus a little extra thrown in for my troubles.

Now if I will sell any at that price is yet to be seen.

The flaw in your comment is that anyone (except wookiees) can wear armor. OurONLY market for these items is chefs. I like toPLAY this game, I dont want to spend my time collecting the insane amount of resources for this many tissues. So with that, the chefs will have to bring me the resources to be used. I dont think 10K is too little for 5 min of my time and knowledge. Its not going to "ruin" our class, there are too many other things we make that will prevent that. In fact it will help to elevate a class that is now slightly dependant on us.

My pricing:

Caloric Conversion Supplement (Medium Filling) : 62500 for crate of 25.
Carbocaloric Eliminator (Heavy Filling) : 75000 for crate of 25.

This is based on the cost of resources. Example, Caloric Conversion takes 65 of a specific meat type, and 35 of a specific flora type. These types of resources cost 15-20 credits per unit.

I agree that the resource requirements for these things are way too high. It's silly that an optional component for food requires more resources than the food itself. Even with the above pricing scheme, I only make about a profit of about 900 credits per tissue.

I would agree that 10k for a schematic is a very fair price.

Consider that it's not like a chef is even going to likely be doing a 1k run from that schematic anyway given the amount of resource. Much more likely that they will be doing a couple hundred at a time, so he'll be back for plenty more.

What I hope we don't see is what you seen in tailoring where the defacto price of a schematic is zero, zilch, nada. Armorsmiths take advantage of tailors SO badly in this regard. I once tried to charge an armorsmith a paltry 5k for a 1000 use schematic and got absolutely bitched out about it. He was absolutely incensed that I had the gall to charge for something that cost me nothing and that every other tailor gave away for free. Ever since I've refused to do schematics at any price.

I sold Schematics last night at $50K each which may be a little low. Even if you charged $100k that only adds an additional $100credits of cost per item to a chefs bottom line.

At one point I had 4 chefs lined up waiting for various schematics to be made.

A full factory run of Heavy Nutrition will take over 56hours of factory time and at 5cr per unit will cost you close to 1/2mil in credits.

Even if you aquire the raw materials yourself and do not need to purchase them, the opportunity cost alone of those raw materials are worth at least 5cr per unit. You can easily sell bulk meat and flora at 5credits per unit.

In believe that after a lot of all of our stored up stock of meat and flora gets run thru factories the next week on these things that high quality food buffs will become rare and Quite expensive.

I'm hoping that my guildmates who are grinding various combat professions can help me acquire sufficient meat to continue to grind BE as well as provide some crates of the lower level tissues to the chefs on Naritus.

Quite a few of these ideas sound good and I think I'll post on our boards offering schematics once I get the more popular ones.
