Thread: Lowering CL for the non-CHs
I don't know the first thing about BE. I've read some of the sitcky topics but there is a lot I don't know. I am a non CH wondering what my pet options are going to be if the nerf everyone is talking about hits.
So my understanding is that you guys (the BE's) are the ones who are going to be doing things like reducing certain attributes during the experimentation process, thereby lowering the CL. Essentially allowing the capability for non CH's to use pets that are greater than CL10 in their 'default' state.
My question is how much flexibility do you guys have with that? Basically what I am asking is what is the highest 'default' CL that you think you can get down to 10 and what has to be sacrificed to do so?
Unless my understanding is incorrect it sounds like you guys will be much in demand to provide pets to the non CHs.
Any input is much appreciated.
Well even if we're able to drop a critter by a megre 10 CL points then it totally blows open the barn door for the variety of animals... however, for this new system to go in it totally alters how we make clones anyway since we gain control over the HAMs, the armor, the special moves and the secondary stats. The final appearence of the animal has no bearing on the CL rating aside from some 'bodies' not being allowed below a certain level. So you'll never see CL10 rancor for example. But ultimately it'll turn bio-engineering for clones into the equvilent of ordering a custom made pizza..
"Hi, i'd like a CL10Kusak, 1500 HAM, poison melee attack... oh and hold the armor please.
"
Oh, Tal-N, that was a much needed chuckle! Thanks! I only hope it works that well. Don't forget the part about "...and could you make it hot pink?" /snicker
Seriously though, I hope we're able to have that much control. I won't be holding my breath, mind you.
Thx for the input guys, sounds like some cool new features for the BE's. I want my rock beetle with leopard striped fur a big exhaust pipe please.
What about ability to lower CL currently? I just bought a Rock Beetle that I was told would be compliant with the nerf, under the current rules can you also knock around 10 off the CL? Or in the case of my beetle 3 (I think they are default 13).
Weak sounds likeI lose my rock beetle when the nerf hits. But on the bright side sounds likeby the time I actually get restricted to cl 10's the BE's will be able to see to it that I'm running around with one with a significantly higher default cl and custom colors and **edit**.
From my perspective, if these cloning changes make its way into the TC then to Live, You'll be able to take that CL 90 Kimogila and wimp him up to like a lvl 60 pansy.
Unless they physically alter the size of the kimogila in a drastic way then I expect it to be removed from the bio-eng blueprints. The thought of every bio-engineer owning a CL60 kimogila and using them in cities and on the battle field poses too many problems because of their huge size.
I can't wait to see what happens when we make a rancor with chuba dna and it alters the size to a chuba ![]()
"Look, a 1-foot tallrancor!"

I.e. 14 or more points....
The reason is that with the amount of points we currently have, and all the added categories.....would mean we would not be able to experiment very well at all....we would conceivably make lower level CLs but at the cost to everything else.
Unfortunately I have a bad feeling this is exactly what will happen.....we will get great changes with so many possibilities but we will be unable to utilize them.
