Thread: Reproducable Results Not Possible?

Ok, I am having a real problem with this and am wondering if anyone has figured out how to get reproducable results. Here is what I have been using to make pets:

Frenzy Graul DNA: Phys / Prow / Psy
Toxic Merek Battlelord DNA: Mental
Bark Mite Burrower Queen DNA: Agg

My first experiment resulted in exactly what I thought it would and gave methis:
CL52
HAM ~11k
Light Armour
Kin: 60%
Other Resists: 2-80%
Elec: Vuln
Spec 1: Strong Poison
Spec 2: Strong Disease
Ranged Attack: Yes

However, all further attempts using the same mix of DNA Slot/Quality wise has failed to generate another one! I am looking to reproduce the ranged and specials, except they are coming out all over the boar.. examples:

Spec 1: Strong Poison
Spec 2: ---
Ranged Attack: Yes

Spec 1: Stunning Strike
Spec 2: Strong Disease
Ranged Attack: Yes

Spec 1: Stunning Strike
Spec 2: ---
Ranged Attack: No

Spec 1: Strong Poison
Spec 2: Blinding Strike
Ranged Attack: Yes

Etc, etc, etc...

Does anyone have a clue on what sub-stats might be controlling this? I have tracked and tried many many different ones, but none of it seems to be consistant aand after 30+ pets made with this DNA combo I have yet to reproduce my original creation.

Try setting the TMB DNA into the Psych/Action slot also. I haven't used the Graul DNA yet, so not sure what CL, resists, specials are on it. For me when I mix strong disease/strong poison I usually go:

Phys: BMB or BMBQ
Action: TMB
Mental: TMB
Pysch: TMB
Agg: BMB

Have gotten both to stick pretty often along with ranged. But there is still a big random factor and I still would say I have at least 50% go the wrong way on specials Stupid game. Then of course you turn around a crit fail away a couple templates to, woo.

That will not result in the resists I want though, thats why I use the FG DNA is in my recipe in 3 slots.

Well one thing about this new system is alot of the time there are trade offs. You get the resists you want but not the specials, you get the specials but not the resists, etc, etc.

Well that would insinuate that the system is 100% random, which believe it isn't at all. I am of the strong opinion that the various sub-stats are controlling which specials show up and whether or not the mob has ranged attack. I have found that I can easilly force a particular special by putting the DNA in the Mind slot with a very high Int attribute, it is the balancing of 2 different specials that I am having issues with.

As far as resists, those are easy, they are the average of all 5 slots, Vuln counts as approximately -5, but if a slot which has Vuln DNA in itis under 20% or so average,it becomes Vulnerable.

Have you been tracking the DNA sample quality? I have no proof, but I get the feeling that the higher the quality, the greater the chance of specials "sticking" you might try VHQ in the TMBL and HQ in the others, for instance and see what happens.

Sounds like the problem I was having. Sounds like sample quality problem.

Ok, spent most of today experimenting and tracking resultsand it appears as if it is 100% random as to which specials get used.. or it is so obscure it isn't even funny. I tested sample quality, I tested using the highest stat in a particular slot, Itested the lowest stat in a particular slot and I even tested the average of slot pairs and nothing was consistent. The closest I came was to the sample having the highest Dep in the Agg slot controlling special 2, but then even that ended up failing after enough tests trying to disprove it. Although it did work 9/10 times at least... so maybe there is just a random generator at work that can skew the results as well.

As far as I know we haven't been able to nail anything down on this forum. My experience has been specials coming from Aggresiveness maybe 65% of the time, and the remaining 35% split between Mental and Psychological. Sigh. The complex system is wonderful, but this random specials things is just a headache.

Try putting the Frenzied Graul DNA in Phys, Prow, and Ment instead. Put the DNA with the Specials in Pysch and Aggr. I get the Specials to come out this way everytime. Not sure if this effected the resists at all, I know the Kinetic on mine was still 60%.

I think Mental and Aggressive havethe greatest affectson specials, but the other slots have a small weight as well. I havea lot ofsuccess putting the DNA of the one creature who's specials I want inboth Mental and Aggression.

I have rarely intentionallytried to get one special from one creature and another special from another creature, and I've been very skeptical of those who say one special comes from one slot and another comes from another slot. I think it may be that, depending on the quality of the DNA, you are more likely to get eitherboth specials from the sample in the Mental slot orboth specials from the sample in the Aggression slot. Since the BMB Queen is CL 60 and the TMB is CL 45, it wouldn't surprise me if you got the Queen's Specials more often than you got the Battlelord's Specials. Also, with only one TMB sample and only one BMB Queen sample, you are really pushing your luck hoping to get one special from each of them. All of the slots have weights, I think, even if small.

I also havea lot ofluck putting the DNA of a creature with Ranged in the Psychological slot to get Ranged. Since the Frenzied Graul does not have Ranged, I'm not surprised if you often didn't get Ranged. Other slots besides Psych seem to affect Ranged, but I think Psych has the greatest weight.

The Merek Death's Head has both Strong Poison and Strong Disease. Maybe you should try:

FG, Slots 1 and 2 for high Kinetic

MDH, slots 3 and 5 for Str Poison and Str Disease

BMBQ, slot 4 for Ranged and help with Str Disease and with high Kinetic.

You'll have Str Disease in slots 3, 4, and 5, with Ranged in Slot 4, and high Kinetic in 1,2, and 4. Also, with Str Poison in 3 and 5, you should have a very good chance of getting that too.

The aboverecipe should give you 56% Kinetic instead of 60%, but HAM should be higher. Merek Deaths's Head is CL 56, and TMB is just CL 45, although I can't say that I know how their HAMs compare. I would expect you would get Str Pois, Str Dis, and Ranged well over half the time with this recipe.

Well I changed tactics and finally managed to get a worthwhile pet, I gave up on the Poison / Disease combo after my friend gave me some feedback on how the Knockdown / Dizzy pet I gave him was working out.. he said it tends to put mobs out of action and keept them that way...heh.

So here is my newest creation, made for PvE: CL55 Gurreck
