The formulaI am looking for is not in the FAQ, hence I decided to post if it is in the FAQ please tell me and I will "Read here first....again...."

I also knew there was no easy 1+1=2 formula to this, was just interested if anyone had actually tried to do it. I realise that this would kind of take the whole *Experiment* thing, but I would like to know all the same

me either.

I did manage to get a special that was only in the first two slots though... thought that was pretty kooky myself.

I've had that happen if slots 4 or 5 have a special that wont pass through and/or the quality of DNA in Slots 1/2 are much higher than 4/5.

While the FAQ doesn't have the 'base' value right after the combine, it does have an equation to estimate the max value a stat can have. These equations can be found in both the Making a BE Pet Pt 1 By Mirrland Sumo-Stat Formulae Compliation - version 2.0 By Sumorexsections of the FAQ.

For what you're looking for, an idea of the stats you can get so you don't waste DNA, these equations should help you.

I apologize for my inabilityto answer in a more concise way for you.

I realize that I have just asked the question that has taken a lot of hard work foryou to get the answerto get the answer.

Suppose I could just go for the old "Stick in the one with the highest stat" therory but I am a little fed up with throwing away good DNA...things are a lot easier to digest if you can simplify the working..

Thanks for your input though

The reason that there is not an answer for you is that there is no way of knowing what the final combine will be. You could get a variety of results from crit failure to amazing success on any one of 12 combines/experiments. Now add in the fact that each stat rolls by itsself (one experiment on physique results in 2 checks - one on hardiness, one on fortitude), and you can start to see the futility of trying to decipher the final stats of a critter from the DNA you put in. The best that has been done so far is an approximate max stat.

What he is looking for is what a particular stat will be on the initial combine before any experimenting. I have not seen anyone try that approach since most ppl will always experiment, so I'm not sure why that matters. *shrug*

Ah, I see.... gettin corn-fused over final combine

You are correct. Not sure why anyone would do that myself....

Edit:

I also think it would be difficult to get any hard numbers, for that matter.... Again, with so many variables, and at least 10 checks just on the initial template combine, it would be an invitation for a session of pullin out my own hair to try to pin anything close to exact numbers down, but then again, I did not understand the formulas in teh FAQ until I started applying them

Am I the only one who remembers there was a post for a jave page someone did that figures this out. You would input the stats for your 5 dnasamples and it would give you the template stats within reason. Although the stats for the template were for max experimentation in all attributes, which we know won't happen. Still it was pretty close. Then if you wanted you could advance the template to see the stats on the final creature. It was a really good tool I wish I remebered the thread it was on.

no Jayce, you are not the only one. The information in the faq is essentially what is in that applet, without the java (gotta use a calculator). The original poster does not want that info though, he wants to know what the final numbers would be if he did not experiment at all.

Why would you not want to experiment??? Isn't that the point of being a Bio-Engineer?

I think this is what you're looking for:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bio-engineer&message.id=55097

Knowing what you get pre-experimentation is somewhat useful, but to be honest I think all this stuff is only semi-useful because we're missing the big piece: how to predict the CL.
