Thread: Whats highest lvl creature we can sample?
Cool Arachne queens? That the top anyone can report for reliable sampling? Are they aggro? I want to make the best of the best pets, so if homemade rancors isnt the best, I'm going to do what it takes to go get the best.
Thanks,

I've regularly been able to sample Mutant and enraged rancors without difficulty.Though I don't know theirCL.
horned and vexed voritor are cl 50, slinking voritor hunters cl 55 and mutant rancors 70
I've been out recently getting alot of samples for a string of Rancor orders I decided to accept. On the whole I can sample from CL70 mutant Rancor with near on 100% success rate plus minimal aggro. Things get a bit sticking when i sample from Enraged Rancor that are CL75 where the success rate drops to what I'd guess is around 50/50 or perhaps even 1/3 of the time. It's certainly a significant difference from the Mutants I can tell you that. I did also try sampling from the enraged bull rancor but had 100% chance of failure and they#re CL85. There is the possibility to get samples from CL80 critters but I don't know of any which exist.
With the pending CL balancing coming in for all creatures, I wonder if this will affect what we can/cannot sample.
Also, I wonder if DNA samples now will be worth anything come the publish.
Well, just read over the patch notes - and if I read them correctly - I'm probably out of the highend pet business.
I don't LIKE to adventure - I'm perfectly happy puttering around the newbie fields making affordable pets (face it - the stats weren't THAT much different). I guess I could go out with a group of adventurers but ya know - 'hunting' with a bio engineer is DULL. It's not dull for ME, but playing bodyguard, well - I don't know how many fighter types will find that thrilling.
One things for sure - my pet prices are gonna have to go up - a LOT.
I'd say what we're going to be seeing now is alot of the less-serious bio-engineers either leaving the profession or focussing on just making petstims and such. This new system does indeed favour the people who like to go out and put their neck on the line sampling from wild animals which is frankly why I enjoyed making clones so much until I got sick of the end results being useless.
In the end though this does indeed mean that a BE/Ranger or BE/Scout combo has significant advantages, I've been expecting this ever since I heard about this system and built up my character based around many assumptions which again have proven to be correct. It will be sad to see people i know leave the profession cause the nature of it has become more focused towards the scouting routes, but in the end I often wonder if those people who say they don't like doing that might not have given the proper method of sampling a chance and simply grown lazy from sampling their own clones. It's very possible since one is infinently easier than another.
Will cloning prices rise? Maybe for the more powerful ones but since the CL of the DNA dicates the CL of the clone then anything up to CL30 is actually going to be very easy to make since the range of CL30 critters which are non-aggro is extensive. Getting certain special moves though such as disease is going to be tough for folks without maskscent though so I'm personally prediciting pricing systems based around what stats and abilities go into a clone rather than one based on their HAM or solely on the material costs. Its sure going to lead to some interesting discussions on clone pricing I know that much.
