also try the artisan boards. from experience I can tell you go up surveying first. you can then go up engineering to be able to make personal harvesters. After that you can take architect to build the larger ones or find an architect when you are ready to upgrade. you will need to start out kinda slow to get cash for the harvesters needed to pump up the stuff. as for selling high overall quality is good especially when combined with other high attributes like potential energy or unit toughness. Copper with high conductivity usually sells good. I have gotten over 800k over time with a character to the point where I have recently pulled all her harvesters and live off what I have. just keep in mind that at first you will have to invest in paying for and maintaining the machines as well.

One thing I still use, because it was a great money and XP maker, is do the artisan "craft" missions from the mission terminals. Very easy, and a lot of $$.

Easy way to do it on Tatooine is remember this:

All Anchorhead missions (no matter what direction they say) send you to Bestine.

AllBestine missions (no matter what direction they say) send you to Anchorhead.

You can pick up 2 missions at a time, so... do that, go one direction, then pick up 2 more coming back. These never pay more than 8-900 at a time in AH/Bestine, though.

All of the missions from Mos Eisley go to Anchorhead, and many pay over $1300.

Good luck!

In Theed I would take either Imperial delivery missions or regular delivery missions to Moenia. I would keep refreshing the terminal until I got two missions to there. I would make around 1700 or more for the trip. I would take regular delivery missions back, since there are no Imperial terminals in Moenia. Again netting 1700 or so.A few hours of this would give me enough money to run harvesters for all of my lots. Start small and work your way up to bigger harvesters. It is best to concentrate on mineral harvesters at first beacuse metals sell real well, even poor quality if it is priced right. Also you can pull radioactive energy with mineral harvesters. Potential energy is more important than quality when it comes to suppling energy to your harvesters.Medium size harvesters come with a max base extraction rate of 7. Don't waste money on a 5 or 4 base extr rate. They cost the same in power and maintenance. Don't be afraid to move your harvesters to a higher concentration of resource, but only if it is of great value. Sometimes if the resources are of so so stats then its best just to leave your hravesters alone and pull whats there. You can sell resources in units smaller than 1000. Get your own supply of energy as soon as you can and stockpile what you don't use. When you make the move to buy a large or heavey harvester go for the fusion generator first. It will need to be put on a concentration of radioactive resource but it will provide you with all your energy needs and then some. Then go for the Mineral harvester followed by the flora. Wood sells real well as do any of the foods especially if the flavor, pe and oq are high.

Crafting items with the highest difficulty numbers give more xp. Practice mode is the best to use if you are just grinding for xp. You don't need to experiment to get higher xp. You will get the same xp wether you expirement or not. If someone uses what you craft you get some xp. See what you can make and what is missing from the bazaar. Usually droid batteries, camps, fishing poles, and survey devicesare things people need but you cant always find on the bazaar. You can have 25 items on the bazaar at one time - keep it maxed. Resupply often.

Keep an eye out for crafting tools and stations that have a high functionality rating and get them as soon as you can.

Sell for less than everyone else if you need to build up money fast. Almost every metal is on sale for 1k units for 3k credits. Sell yours for 2800 and it will stand out and sell fast.

So after about 2 months of a cancelled account I've decided I want to get back into SWG........but the not the usual way........I want to make an artisan character........so i can have uber amounts of cash.......you know buying and selling resources mostly.........cuz frankly the whole crafting process sounds a little bit boring to me (but I do love a good weaponsmith!)

anyways I was hoping that the kind people here in the forum could help me out.......could you point out a link to some sort of FAQ or guide to a novice artisan? You know, setting yourself up, wats hot and not for selling, common mistakes you should avoid, how to get the most out of the profession? I'd really love it if you guys could help me out with this, I'd be really useful.........Thx fellas!

PS: Thanks again! And please let it be a good guide! Mentors would be welcome too (yes I will do all your unwanted work for you if you teach me the ropes)

That probably sounded like a flip answer, but he's absolutely serious. I'd doing commando because I want to, not because of some holo-thing, so maybe that makes it seem better, but I do know I've gone up the branches of commando waaay faster than I did when I was a pistoleer. Use your LP until you get to flame 2, then use your flamecone to set groups on fire and switch back to the LP. You'll be getting xp like manna. For the grenade line, all you need is combat xp, which I hear lots of bitching about, but I think it comes pretty easily. I just maxxed it yesterday, and I wasn't even actively trying to accumulate it. Use cheap-o looted grenades on lairs and that'll help. All that weapons xp you'd normally get for blowing a lair with a gun is converted to combat xp when you use grenades.
