Thread: Making Crap Pets for CHs?

I've been getting lots of CHs wanting me to make anywhere from 25 to 250 "crap" pets for them to tame and train to get xp. Several MCH friends tell me that the best way to get CH xp is to simply hunt, by going up to Dantooine and such and hunt there, where CH xp is great, or to grab some babypets and kill the trash outside the starting cities. (Being a CH myself, I tend to agree to that approach.) I can understand buying "failed" experiments to some extent, if you have them on hand and want to let them go. (I just tame them myself for the CH xp. )

So, out of curiousity, do any of you actually take orders for this kind of thing, particularly the Masters?

It doesn't really seem worth doing to me, really. I suppose a novice BE that needs the money, crafting xp, and sampling xp could possibly take the job. However, in my example above, even making 25 "crap" pets takes up a good amount of time, and I still feel that most (non-BE) CHs still don't really know how long the pet making process can take. Realistically, due to the non-stacking nature of DNA samples I don't know of any higher level BEs that would use up their valuableinventory space stockpiling the DNA of gnorts, fearful fynock youths, kreetles, and the like. Even using muon gold, you're still collecting 125 DNA samples to make 25 pets, which will take at least around 45 minutes (a conservative estimate really, the more I look at it, I think it will take much longer than this). Soooo, don't tell me it doesn't take any particular effort to collect the DNA samples. You can craft the templates and creatures during the downers, but the entire process should still take up an hour and a half to two at least, I would think. Then, the CH basically sits somewhere and collects xp. Depending on the level of the BE you may or may not get (or need any) xp at all for all that work.

So, does anyone do this thing regularly? What do you charge? WhenI look at it, it's a way for CHs to "buy" xp, rather than going out there and earning it. Before any CHs start flaming, I'd like to remind them again that I'm a CH also, working my way to mastering the profession. My primary method of levelling in CH is through taking out my pets and hunting, not making petsand taming themfor the xp. In the time it takes me to make several crappy creatures to tame, and then teach them, I could have cleared several lairs AND gotten more xp from those missions than crafting and taming pets, not to mention filling my pockets with money from the missions. Frankly, I'd like to hear from a fellow BE that makes a good business out of this. Am I missing out on something?

I'm sure BE/CHs do this kind of thing for themselves. Like I said, I tame and teach pets that aren't worth selling to CHs as a "legitamate" combat pet. But, would you do this for someone that offered to pay you for 25-250 pets? My curiousity is about the viablility of this as a business for BEs. Personally, I don't intend to go into it for the reasons I've stated above. If someone has a better take on why it is, I'd just like to know.

I've had people ask me as well, but frankly, it just isn't worth your time as an MBE to do it. For the amount you'd charge per pet, it'd just be too expensive for them, and too boring for me...might be different if we could make pets in factories, but like thats going to happen

This kind of deal would be best for a novice BE to grab up, they're going to be sampling the yard trash to get exp anyway, and I made mytemplates in the field to save space...definately wouldn't be worth it for a Master, but if the CH could provide the meat x2 for the clones or something like that, would be a good deal all around...since they nerfed CH exp this might be a goodalternative...

I have a steady supply of people who buy my grinding bags. 25 CL2 pets 125k which takes about an hour to an hour and a half to make which is pretty good money if you ask me.

Alternating between Bio Enhanced Corellian Ice Cream and Muon Gold the make costs aren't too high either.

Why didn't I think of that...
I'm an MCH and training BE'd pets is a no hassle opperation, they learn the first time, every time.

Now I know how to turn a very large profit with the halo hunters!
Thanks.

I had a guy order 2 dewbacks from me the other day and said he didnt care about the stats. I quickly sampled some yard trash and made them for him, but they were truly worthless...Ham was in the low hundreds...lol. I was so embarrassed at the stats I offered togive them to him, but he still paid me 20k, which considering the time I invested was barely worth it anyway quite honestly. If I had known there would be any market at all for this though I would have made crummy pets from all that crummy dna I sampled at 1 and 2 rather than deleting it to help defray the crazy amounts of resources I end up buying.

I just recently starting playing a CH for the first time in an alternate character, so I'm starting to gain some understanding into gaining xp in that class.

To me, both from the CH and BE standpoint, buying BE pets for xp is a complete waste of time and money. It makes no sense whatsoever from either standpoint. From a BE standpoint, you get so few xp for those pets, that if your motivation is gaining xp all you're doing is wasting your time. In the time it took to make those pets you would have gotten 10x the experience by grinding mns.

As a CH, it's also very undesirable because presumably the BE will charge a reasonable fee based on all the time it takes to make those creatures, and it's a waste of money. My CH can go run lesser bol missions on Dant, and there is a minimum of 2 babies/lair I've found. So I'm making money instead of spending it, plus getting lots of CH experience training, plus getting even more xp (150 a pop) when I fight with those babies that I'm training, turning them again their own lair (which seems a little warped to me, but what the hey, lol), and of course getting combat xp at the same time.

Oops, well, as far as answering your question as to whether I take "grind orders", absolutely I do. When someone asks me for "grind pets" I tell them I'd be happy to make one, but it will cost my "house pet" price of 5k/pet. Funny that nobody has ever taken me up on that, lol.

i would do it, just because i get a little burt at making the bestanimals/tissues/stims that i can. it would be a nice change if someone came up to me andasked for some"crap" pets. i still wouldn't take any less then 1k for each animal just because even a gnort takes 15 each of flora and meat. plus time to get the meat, time to take dna samples...
