Just to add a bit to the recommendation of mastering the DNA line first. I'm the perfect test subject for this. I've crafted almost nothing except templates, and I just got DNA IV a few minutes ago. At this point I have ~7600 BE Crafting Experience. So, in all honestly, it's not a big deal if you save it for last.

Thanks for the FAQ though, when my holo turned up BE, I had no idea how the heck to go about mastering it. I must admit though, I'm kicking myself for not using a clone pet when I had to master CH.

Cheers

its because the schematic for all items you can make are unique to every player, so the command /selectDraftSchematic11 ie will make micros on my computer, but might on yours it might make squalls or anything else.

Experiment with the numbers from 00 and upwards untill you get it right. I dont know any other way.

Great posts! I would like to add some additional details. I have just started my BE and while I think the mind cost is extraordinarily high, and the XP is slow compared to other classes, there is quite a bit of reward for crafting critters.

I'm by no means close to MBE, but, I did learn some very important details in my first box of Sampling.

I immediately started off my sampling on the planet Endor! I found that certain creatures tended to yeild more consistant results on actually yeilding samples and were also less likely to turn on me. At least the rate with these was the case.

On Endor, the Bolle Bol Bark Bitter seemed to allow me to have greater success (more frequently) and had less occurences of aggro on me. This may be random, however it was met with a great deal more success. Also, I noticed that if after each attempt made, if I waited approximately 5-10 seconds before my next attempt it also seemed to help diminish my rate of aggro. With these guys, I was getting about 325 XP each sample!

My tactic for sampling has been this and has seemed to help. I would "park" my vehicle close by, dismount and move towards the subjects, if agro occured, I would immediately head back to the bike, (which a hot key ready) mount the bike and ride to saftey.

Where I received the most xp however, was with Bolle Bol Stompers, also on Endor. I found that both the Stompers are enemies with the Arcane Hatchlings and found a nest of the two side by side. I sampled the Stompers as they yeilded a higher degree of success and if aggro occured, I run up the hill to the nest of Hatchlings wich quickly engaged the stompers in combat freeing me from worry. Both these creatures are non-agro and niegther DB's. The XP is slightly less than the Bark Bitters, however but you have an additional fall back plan if the other (i.e. your bike) is not availble. I've only made 1 box in sampling like this, however the amount of time that I put in, total from start to finish on this one box, was clocked about 1.3 hrs. Not bad considering 10k XP required. Most of that time was spent waiting for mind to regen. :-)

Happy Sampling.

Finished the crafting line last night.

Oh, I'm so happy to get it done with. Anyhow, a couple of tips that I figured out while crafting using the macro. First of all, go download the latest mouse drivers, so you can remap the double-click to the left mouse button and single click to the right button. Tis saved my hands from carpal tunnel syndrome.

Also, having used the macro everywhere there seem to be places that work good and places that lag quite bit. The absolute best place I found was the Mos Espa cantina, which was almost always abandoned, maybe one or two peeps there on a good day, but the servers seem great there, hardly any lag in putting the ingredients in the schematic.

The total number of ingredients for micronutrient supplements is 170k Organic and 73k Meat. Any meat will do and any organic will do. I recommend you buy a fleet of personal flora farms drop them in a 90% junk Organic spot and then go hunting for meat for a week, then do the crafting.

FYI for those writing out crafting macros, you do not need to enter in the full command such as /selectDraftSchematic ##; typing /sel ##; will yield the same result. The same for /nextCraftingStage; just type /next;. Unfortunetly there is no shortcut for /createPrototype practice no item;. I offer this only asa tip to those who like to save the amount of typing they do. So an example would be -

/ui action toolbarSlot13;
/sel 11;
/pause 6;
/next;
/next;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 3;

Ya'll get the idea. Another FYI using a macro to craft items in practice mode removes the chance of a crit failure.

i can't get it to work it just keeps running them over and over and over again and saying i failed to create item every single time i guess im gunn have to do it the hard way just like everything else.. i knew it was too good to be true everytihng that seems good doesn't work for me

Couple things:

  • You have to be sure to load the items into the crafting window when the window opens. So, when you see the micronutrient supplement there, double click on the meat and then double click on the organic. If you only get one of them loaded before the macro goes on, you'll see: "Failed to load schematic...". If you don't load any ingredients you'll get the same message as if you have filled the hopper with ingredients...And that's addressed below.

  • The macro says, "Failed to craft item" because that's a weird quirk of the macro. If you check your experience meter (can be activated in the skills screen, ctrl-s), you'll see that the macro generates 110xp every time the crafting window closes (after you double clicked on the ingredients). Ignore the "failed" message: it has no relevance. Also...you're in practice mode, so you'll never physically create an item.

Hope this helps.

DNA sampling - This is how I got to DNA 4 in 2 days.

Beforehand if possible MAX out all mind stats on migration.

Sample Yard Trash outside of Theed for 92xp per... for some reason its more than newb critters on tatooine, and also the BE trainer is there if you need it.

Once you get to DNA sample 2 from the yard trash (several hours work) go to Dantooine.

Unequip any weapon you have skills with and equip one you dont have skills with or stay unarmed if you are not skilled in it. Hit up the mission terminal and get 2 Bol missions in the same direction, preferabbly spaced apart.

Sample Bols for 334xp / Bol Pack Runners 299xp until DNA 4. Bols are not aggro, easy to sample with DNA sample 2 and you can run back and forth between mission sampling over and over. You can also tap the lair (that is shooting one shot at it) to get more to spawn.

This is by far the best way i found to lvl up DNA sampling... and ive tried many as this is my 3rd time doing Bio-Engineer.

Hope it helps.

just a quick note on the crafting macro... to determine the correct number as others have said i usually open my dpad and my crafting tool. on the dpad count from zero starting at top left as if reading until you get to your micronutrient what ever that item is is going to be close to the correct number for the macro but usually off by a few. in your chat space you can use the macro line /selectdraftSchematic xx and insert that number and your crafting tool will go to that item. find whatever item that the tool starts using (usually 1-4 spaces away from micronutrient) in your dpad and count either forward or back in your dpad until you find micronutrient. ie if the item that pops up is 2 spaces to the right subtract 2. hit the back button on your crafter then type in the new number in your chat box (/selectdraftSchematic xx) and micronutrient should pop up. I have never had to adjust more than once... insert the new (correct) number into your macro.

p.s. this macro is incredibly usefull and can be adjusted over and over. i mastered medic and artisan both in 3 days using the same crafting macro and only adjusting the schematic number... good luck and hope to cross sabres with you some day.

Just wanted to say thanks for the great info here as Bio Engineer unlocked my FS last night after 19 professions. I cant tell you how many times I read this as I spend well over 15 hours just on sampling lines 1-4. Thx again and i am staying a Master BE!!

Im working on a macro for B.E., as the one posted previously is well not as efficient as I would like. Once I get it a bit more in order I will post it for everyone.
