Out of darn skill point
OK - I understand that at 1-1-x-x the most highly recommended pets are the Grand Wrix and the GSP.
My question - what are the recommended pets at 2-2-x-x, and how do they compare with the two above? I would have to drop some high-end Ranger skills to free up the training points, but I'm not sure I need anything bigger than a GW/GSP. (Currently 2-1-3-2Pistoleer, 4-4-4-2 Ranger, 2-0-0-1 Medic).
Thanks for the great thread (and for the sticky!)
You CAN'T use CL 50 pets at taming 4. Nor at tame/train 4. You need 4, 4, and EITHER empathy OR manangement level 4.
Refer to your skills sheet. There is a skill mod listing for max level of pet, and for max pet levels. These will tell you what CL you can call, with the exception of graul maulers, which require non-wooks to have 3, 2, x, x.
I was wondering what CL pets would i be able to use at 4/4/0/0.
Some people tell me i'm able to use rancors , some tell me no.
What about gurrecks ?
Would really like some ideas on what pets would be good at 4/4/0/0 or should i just stick to 3/2/0/0.
Bunor
Flurry
Novice Commando 0/3/4/0
Novice Medic 3/0/0/0
Novice CH 3/2/0/0
NO creatures with better than light armor are currently tamable. Medium armor creatures no longer spawn babies.
The BEST defense on a currently tamable creature is the graul mauler, with a 75% resist to kinetic dmg on top of light armor. A graul mauler will take 1/8 damage from kinetic attacks. A BABY graul mauler (HAM 970) has an effective kinetic HAM of 7760. An adult, at CL 34, has 77600.
Even though the CL is 34, non-wooks must have CH 3.2.x.x, while wooks can use adults at 2.2.x.x.
And if you really want to dream, add mantigrue screechers to your list. Heavy armor plus resists, and a really dangerous disease.

The gameguide states something about with proper care and attention your pet can grow more powerful than the ones in the wild. Is there any fact to this and what do you need to do while the pet is growing to make this happen?
Actually, all pets grow more powerful than the ones found in the wild whether or not you treat them with proper care and attention.
This definately belongs here:
Q: How do I name my pet?
A: Before you can name a pet, you have to be able to teach it 4 commands. This means that at Novice CH, you aren't able to name it - and that you'll have to get at least one level from either the Empathy or the Management line if you wish to name your pet. Once you can teach it 4 commands, you name it by teaching it those commands with the name you wish to use in front of the command itself - '/tellpet <name> cmd'. Thus, if you wish to name your pet Fluffy, you would teach it 4 commands saying '/tellpet Fluffy store', then '/tellpet Fluffy attack', etc. until you have taught it 4 commands. You know you'll have done it right when after the 4th command you're pet will respond with the new name - ie 'Fully ?'. Once this is done your pet is named.
I'll appologize in advance for asking such a newb question, but how do I name my pet and teach it the release command? I was looking in the help but didn't seem to find the answer, I'm assuming that naming and release are innate commands since I see them nowhere on the skill tree for CH. And by the way, atleast Hermit Spiders are tamable at novice, even though they are a red mob. They suck in terms of power, but they're the only red mob I've seen tamable so far for me a novice, and such a low level that they give pretty decent xp if you can keep them from dieing after one hit.
Q: Should I unequip my weapon and walk in to appear 'less threatening' to baby animals?
A: It's unknown whether this makes *any* difference or not. My opinion is that it probably doesn't make a difference. I do unequip my weapon since if the baby animal attacks me--I won't kill it in seconds--but my hand2hand skills are low (if you're Teras Kasi maybe you want to equip a carbine or ax or something).
You can run up to baby animals and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Q: What should I do if the baby attacks me?
A: Just don't kill the baby. If you're in with aggressive creatures, lead the baby well away from mommy and daddy. Babies don't hit hard. If they start to lose interest, hit them with your weakest range weapon (once) to keep 'em interested. The idea is that you take them to a safe spot where you can tame in peace without worrying about mask scent breaking.
Q: Should I use mask scent then?
A: Um. Definitely. If you're getting scout experience you can check off when you're within range by how many times you get scout experience. Make sure you succeed in the maskscent check and then stroll in. It doesn't seem to matter if you're within 25 meters or 1 m of the parents.
Q: How is the parents aggro'ing on me a good thing?
A: You can lead them away, get them lost and now you have one less parent to worry about. Even if you get killed you probably lead them enough way so they won't find their way back again. Start over, eventually you'll get the baby if nothing else through the process of elimating a guardian per every death. Make sure to set your waypoint where you are attempting to tame a premo baby , so that you can find it again should you get deathblowed.
Q: How important is light armor on a creature?
A: In my opinion, it's critical. An armor class of 1 on a 9600 hp creature effectively gives it 19200 hps while making it a lot easier to heal, plus the health of the creature goes down slower.
Q: Where can I find graul maulers?
A: Good question. First, try Dathomir. A lot of people head south to the sandy area (tarpits) south of the scientific outpost. They are there but often the computer doesn't seem to generate many spawns. One theory is that spawns are based on player traffic so keep trying. It might take you a while, but they are there.
As a new CH dabbler, I'd like to see someone put up some of the common macro's that the pro's use.
I'd like to set up a toolbar just for taming. So far, I've got Tame, Peace and Maskscent marked as first in line. I'd also like to set up a macro for the training commands (Store, Attack, Follow, Stay, etc.). Could someone post the syntax for these commands, please? Detailed instructions would be very nice, since I'm stoopid ![]()
I really don't want to bother the CH's in the game.
1. Is there a list out there that has all the creatures and at what level they can be trained?
2. What the hell does bump or /bump mean?
thanks
