Heralds are the NPCs that direct you to a POI - they are not really needed anymore unless you are a role player - just look at the POI tab on your datapad. Before that tab existed the only way to find POIs was by accident or through the heralds directing you to them.

Hey all,
just browsing the forums and i had a thought...
... A few weeks ago i was in the Warren and i got some "secret research Data" disks from the terminals around some of the scientists. i later deleted them as my inventory was full and i needed the space...
...DOH!!!! Does anyone here have these disks and if so give it a try and see if they work!
I'll go back to the warren and try to get some more...
...couldn't hurt to try.

I kow it's not much, but that's what we know about it at this point.
