Thread: Be Issues Round 2 Revision
There is milk, just not usable quantities. The lootable containers yield 17-20 milk. Active and Passive Tranqs use 25. Hour(ish) per spawn with each spawn varying on the type of milk given. It's no wonder the stuff sells for 100k cpu.
Good thing it's supposedly getting fixed next publish...

Have fun with this class, I dont want it to be easy, but it needs to be fun and rewarding, in fact i enjoy a good challenge. Currently the BE class is not too fun, a huge grind (didnt devs say they wanted to avoid xp grinds like in other online games) and the finished products are not too marketable due to costs, impossible to find ingredients and the fact that there is competition with natural versions of creatures.

Oh yea! Having fun is one thing, making things a challenge is fine. Sampling failures 10/10 on durnies is buggy. Tell me friends, is there one system in the game that works? Have been looking at 9 different game systems now, and appart from simple shoot bang, bang everything works as it is NOT supposed to.
Could say a lot more but don't think it is worthwhile the effort anymore. EQ2 is going into Beta very soon.
I don't bother to post things most of the time but one common thing I have seen as complaints among most of BEs is not being able to make good nonCH pets. Trying to get it on the first try is all but impossible if you want them to have good stats. A friend and I both working on BE have come up with a solution to this problem. Simply DNA sample the creatures you create and keep creating new Templates and hence new creatures until their level sinks to 10 or below. I have been able to create 2.5k to 4k HAM Kwi's that have a wide range of excellent attacks and up to 55 kinetic resistance.

I'm a Master BE on Tempest, and I agree with all those good points that Talthazar made. I want to second AbsolutMinsc's post about not being able to tell what you are making until it's over. There should be a way to tell the creature level as your experimenting so you can tune in on your target level. Also adding a HAM level would be helpful as well. People who ask for pets have no idea it's not like other professions, they never understand when I say that I have no idea what I can make, but I kinda like it that way. I just want to see what I'm making while I'm making it without having to figure out the formula the dbase is using to calculate CL.

Unlike most people, I think, I actually liked that no one had any idea how the cloning system worked. There were no instructions, but that means extensive experiments to try to figure it out. In most games I've played, greater mystery meant greater rewards for solving the mystery. This means that, although it may take forever to get that wonderful low-level uberpet, and it may take countless clonings to get just the right DNA, the end result would make it all worthwhile. In the end, we would end up with something that may have taken us many pains to make, but would be worth much more than the wild pet that took a CH just a few minutes to tame. So when I occasionally stumbled on a higher quality low level pet, I took this as one of the easter eggs in the game. If you do it right, you can discover a wonderful reward the developers hid in the game for the finding. Now I never quite got the Level 10 creature with 10K HAM, but I got some fairly nice pets which I gave to my friends and put on a vendor. Granted, I lost three sets of clothes and a set of composite armor to cloning, but it would be worth it in the end. I'd be able to sell pets for decent money, and maybe, maybe eventually earn as much as an architect does with only slightly more work.
Now with the "invalidation" of my pets, my friends are understanding. People who bought pets are not. They feel the BE's have been cheating and cheated them out of money. I hate to be branded a cheater because I hunted for rewards that were built into the game. It would be like suddenly calling everyonewho has used a holocron a cheater, and punishing them by taking away all their earned skills. To make matters worse, with no ability to determine which pets are valid and which are not, I don't dare try to sell anything that wasn't an experimental reject. At least if my level 10 kaadu with 800 HAM is ruled invalid, I can replace it easily. But still, I've lost weeks worth of DNA collecting, experimentation, and countless cloning, and I'm made to feel like a cheater for doing it. As far as the comparison with CH goes, the CH's get to use the pets. All we can do is make them. They shouldn't be able to tame something in 5 minutes that is better than something it takes us days to make...especially if they are the only ones who can train these pets.
I've been caught three times with game updates now. I had tamed and raised the wrong pets when mounts came out, but since I didn't have the CH level necessary to train mounts, I couldn't tell for many days. By that time, only adult mountable pets were salable. So I tamed three brackasets, only to find out when they were old enough to train as mounts that I couldn't transfer them for training. I could call them, but not transfer them or train them
. So I skilled up my CH skills to try to get to "train mount" and just as I arrived,it was moved, and suddenly I couldn't even call the brackasets. Working harder to get to call them, vehicles were released, and mounts became a thing of the past. So I just dropped the whole thing and started experimenting on cloning. Now this. I've earned no money in weeks of play. I'm dependent on hunting and my artisan and medic friendsfor financial support. And now I'm made to feel like somehow I have cheated by trying to make any money. It is upsetting.
Luckily for me, most of my customers were understanding. Then again, most of them asked how I make creatures and got the long explination about table set up, DNA selection, stat tweaking, and two hours later, they had their pet.
But not all of us are that lucky. I can understand the level 7 pet with 9k HAM suddenly being invalid. We all knew that it was waaaaaay crazy and probably broken. But I have a level 15 gnort with 6.5k HAM and a mear 150 damage that is "invalid" while a level 17 with 7k HAM and 220 damage is still fine. **edit** GM?
Meanwhile, my fiancee can call his level 10 4.5k HAM with 80 damage (failed experiment) jaxcannot be called while his droid is out (You have no chance of taming this creature), but then when the jax is out, he can't pull the droid (You already have the max limit of pets of this type you can control).
And my level 1(0) pets still work. Go figure.
Hopefully their "fix" will work.
I am getting hammered by people claiming I also cheated and made their pets illegally because they can no longer call them. Worse i can find anywhere that the devs explain what this mysterious problem was and which pets it considers invalid. I have two clients that lost the use of cl 13 gurcats for pity sake. cl 13? Now those are uber. lol... lol... lol... NOT! fixing an undisclosed problem that affects an entire occupation and ruins your ingame rep with out explanation is incredibly high on the "jerk" scale. But then the game devs are all into the unshaven, messy haired, uber commando, ultra warrior mindset so I guess I shouldn't be suprise. O! I'm a super commando! Look at my BIG gun!!! Nice job devs!
Here's an idea lets clone some devs and sample in maturity. Naaa they'd nerf that to.
But not all of us are that lucky. I can understand the level 7 pet with 9k HAM suddenly being invalid. We all knew that it was waaaaaay crazy and probably broken
I would even beg to disagree here. They changed the max non-ch level at the same time. Rumor had it that the bugged kimogilas before the patch could be made with up to 100K ham. If that is what a MCH could handle, then 9K in a difficult-to-make, and clearly very expensive non-CH pet didn't seem completely unreasonable. Other professions have ways of making very large sums of money from high-end, difficult to make products. Huge discrepancies exist in the damage weapons can cause. The creatures brought down by a TKA are far, far more powerful than those brought down by a master pistoleer. There is such a wide diversity in abilities, that it seemed that perhaps MBE was suddenly becoming an elite profession in keeping with the difficulty it takes to reach it. I've made more runs from a cloning station trying to advance in my profession than anyone else I know.
It is perfectly within the developers' rights to try to keep the game balanced. But the way to do this is to change the outcome from the crafting tools, not to suddenly turn the members of an entire profession into bankrupt pariahs. If a handful of uberpets existed until their vitality was spent, it would not create a monstrous disruption in game balance.
Our engineered pets will never become factory items. An expensive trip to a harsh planet will never net more than the dna required for 20 animals (since, even with a backpack, I can only carry about 100.) We usually are forced to hunt alone, since sampling is a very boring process for others in a group. We die thousands of deaths. We face random outcomes several times in the crafting stages. Cloned animals have only one ingredient (flora food) that can be harvested by a harvester. All the rest has to be taken directly from animals in the wild. We will never have the luxury of using our best products, since that luxury is reserved for the MCH.In exchange for this, itwould be nice if, once in a great while, we could create something very valuable and unique.
