First on the Pvp portion.

Yes, Damage output is lacking. Since the fix of Scatterhit 2, we must rely on Dots to kill people in solo encounters. In regards to Pvp, the only reason I can justify people taking fencer skills is for stacking a little dodge with their pistoleer, or stacking some defenses for whatever other combat profession they have.

I owned a 290 to 466 stun baton and still could not beat alot of people before I got hold of a mind fire knife, and some other mind poison weapons to compliment it. Fyi 290 to 466 on a stun baton is quite exceptional. People pay 7 to 10 million for a baton that's 200 to 300 max damage on my server.

I think the best thing you could do for all professions is give more options like Jedi have. They don't just fill out 4 branches and are Knight, they have multiple lines to choose from. This gives them the diversity to fine tune their profession to their play style. Give people 6 or 8 branches to pursue before achieving Master, rather than 4.

I know there's a combat revamp coming out that probably has its outline already formed, so I'm probably just blabbering here. I'm guessing you're really wanting info for killing npc critters and beings.

In Regards to Pve.

The stun damage does tend to go a long way on some creatures, but overall if I were going to choose a PVE profession this would be the last on my list. The damage output isn't near enough to justify using this template for PVE.

The only reason I still have fencer is the defensive qualities go well with a support doctor for pvp battles. The longer the doc stays alive, the longer his men stay alive.

As easy as it sounds it is a bit more complicated then that. New rules will need to go into effect, call volume will increase considerably ect. Like I said it isn't my call to make but I will check into it.

I think the call volume is worth it. People won't freak out for long. We all know it wouldn't stop alt botting, it would just move it "underground"... which is oki as far as most of us are concerned b/c it would get it out of our public space.

Personally, I would much rather see this change and have the macro system untouched. I like macros, I just don't like that we are set up to be 100% macroable and the position it puts us in. A ban policy on botting and then a follow up to handle the core problems that are causing the Ent botting in both the Combat thingy and the Dancer revamp would be the best plan for Ents and the game as a whole.

First ban botting, then fix Ent healing and our leveling. *shrug* It just needs to happen.

Welcome to the CH forumTiggs

I've been a master CH for almost a year, changed profession a couple times but never drop MCH. Why? Because I love my pets. I really do.

Like others have stated above, there's bugs with CH profession but some of us choose to ignore it. I know I do. I'm tired of /bugging them. But maybe this is a good time to start fresh. So here goes:

  • Pets disappearing

    • Most of the time it happens when I'm getting ready for combat or in combat. Or when I'm trying to call multiple pets out, one at a time.

  • Pets walking / running at 45 degree angle.

    • Usually happens when I go on a long trek across the planet with my pets.

  • Pets not engaging target when told to attack.

    • Usually happens when I trigger range attack. There's a system message saying that range attack is ON but never say when it's OFF. My pets will start pawing /jumping 5 - 10 meters fromthe target and never hit the target.

Things I'd like to see improved:

  • More storage for pets.

    • There's a lot of exotic pets out there and there's just not enough space to keep them all. I'm not asking for space tokeep them all, just enough so that we can keep our collections and at the same time have enough space for mounts to sell to others.

  • Ability to use specialswhile mounting pets.

    • At the moment, we caninitiate attack but no specials.

It's not much, but just these changes will make me very happy.

droids need to decay

the conversation system needs to be enhanced so that droids with personality chips are more noticable and talkative

we need battle droids!

I like the profession and the defenses you get with it. The only thing I dont like is that our 2 best weapons are batons. I would enjoy it to get more usefull swords.

Since I am the new kid on the block I would like to take a little survey to see what you feel is the most pressing issue with your profession right now. Wait! Don't post just yet, seriously think about this for a moment and post what "you" feel is important, not what you think the overall class feels is important. (Flamers, trolls need not reply). Please do not link me to another thread, I want it in "your" words.

There are no promises being made that you will see immediate changes implemented. This is simply to gauge what you feel is important so that I can discuss this further with the team. I am going through a few professions at a time so if you don't see this post in another forum you participate in, do not worry. I will get to the other forums in due time

Thanks in advance for taking the time out to do this.

P.S.

I am well aware of the sticky issues threads on the forum and the excel sheets that ThunderHeart has. The reason(s) "I" am doing this is 1. to get to know you, 2. get a better feel about your posting styles and 3. Gather fresh feedback from the community. If you feel like you are repeating yourself then please feel free to opt out of posting in this thread.

Without some sort of decay, Droid Engineering will continually go through cycles of product saturation, new game additions, product saturation, new game additions, etc. Other than that Tiggs, as you have in your post, the stickys and issues threads cover all the other details. And FWIW, I consider those issues FAR more important than anything like "Droid Commander" or any other Creature Handler-to-Bio Engineer tie for us.More combat droids, more chassis, all those thingsare and alwayswill be desired, but some of our core systems (and bugs) still need to be addressed first...eventually

Welcome to our corner of the galaxy!

I'd have to say, the #1 issue that haunts me as a droid engineer is the internal manufacturing error in factories.
It thwarts my progress daily. I now have to tend my factories 2-3 times during large runs because they dont behave properly.
The error I'm referring to, formerly known as error 7, now simply says 'could not create crate to store objects in.'
The workaround is pulling out your 1/3 completed run from the output hopper, thus making more room. The output hopper was nowhere near full, and this error happens at different times depending on what you're making. Most recently it happened on a batch of v1 and v2 flight computers (v3 went fine, so did my droid command modules). Dont even bring up the headaches I've had making astromechs, since they're so component intensive, I have to use vendors to store the crates temporarily, hoping someone doesnt buy part of my run before i can throw it back into the factory for the final output.

to get back on the subject:

The biggest issue with the Dancer Profession in your opinion would be:

The Broken Base Dances - You see one thing , the audience sees you sliding

and along wit that the broken Flourishes (example: Exotic)

on the issue of botting . . recently my town brought up the idea of having a buffbot (ended up being a doctor not dancer however) in town. and we had a discussion about it. we were approached (not the first time) by someone wanting to set one up in town.

Now i personally said i wouldnt even enter the cantina if a buffbot was present. we had a discussion and felt even though it might bring in people , it went against what the town stood for and how we were a community. now if someone would have left a buffbot in my cantina i would have just banned em. however you cant ban em from outside currently because militia is worthless.

dont know what im trying to say.. im sure i have a point . haha

Ok. Here it is. It comes in two parts as they are very closely related.

NECESSITYAND DECAY

1a) Decay: We *need* a system of droid decay that encompasses everything a DE makes that is not consumable. Without a means of decay on even the simplest MSE droid, they remain around forever until they are either deleted or given/sold to someone else by the owner. While this can mean that a replacement has been purchased, the owner should have been more inclined to purchase a new droid out of necessity, and not because they had different desires (new crafting station or somesuch) or just plain wanted it gone from their pad. A player could essentially get everything they want in a few droids and keep them indefinitly. IF they change professions, they don't *have* to get a new droid. R3's sell the most for a reason. You can fit the most in them. Once you have what you need, it's a long time till you need more.

1b) Necessity: We're not needed. Period. We make some cool things, some of which are helpful and frequently used (like medical and item mods). But it's not needed. There isn't anything that someone in the game can't do without us with a single exception, being Bounty Hunters.

Facing the facts, this game is centered around combat with crafting as support. Everycombat profession has a dependancy requirement in one form or another on theArtisan-based crafting professions. Armorsmith - obvious, Weaponsmith - obvious, Chef - buffs / healing, Tailor - skill clothing, Architect - a house to live in / storage / furniture, Artisan - Vehicles / Power-ups.

While it could be argued that a Chef, Tailor, Architect, and Artisan aren't really *required*, they offer a huge level of convenience and utility. Many crafters with those 4 professions are extremely successful. They can make a killing with a product experimented up high enough. What they havethat we don't, is what makes for regular repeat customers: consumables and DECAY. Plus, ANYONE can use the consumables / decayers that these skills provide. What we have that's consumable (except BH droids - probe, seeker, detonation)is of little use. It's only helpful to an Artisan. We can send a droid to another planet to give us the same info as if we went there ourselves, often in longer than it would take to go there and back. It's nice, but not that useful. And that's it. Everything else lasts forever. And thanks to a bug, a BH can last forever on the same droid taking away a consumable.

That's it. Only BH has a required consumable.... and only they can use them (yeah, I know smuggler can use DetDroids too, but the utility is much lower and isn't required to "smuggle").

Everything lasts forever.

So we're back to 1a.

[Note: While Architects don't really have "decay" persay, at least the items they make *can* leave the game on their own. If maintenance isn't kept up on a structure (and we've all seen burning harvesters) they're gone.]

[Edit: This applies to JTL as well. Once someone has everything from us they need, they're done. Not to mention that everything is essentially 100% swapable betweendifferent ships. So they don't even need to buy a new one when they get a new ship. A Flight Artist will likely have all the hardware from a DE they will ever need, including the consumable chips. A Master Swordsman still needs new armor and weapons.A Pilotwill never need new droid parts.

Additionally, a Data Droid or Flight Computer isn't *required* for spaceflight or combat. While they are very useful, they're not required. I personally flew without due to power maint issues and did very well. If I did, and I was a DE there also... there will be others as well. The necessity is gone. There's no decay. JTL made things worse in this department.]

[Edit 2: Changed some wording for clarification]
