I agree with GreenStok to an extent. It would be, IN MY OPINION, unethical to sell the schematic IF THERE WERE other BEs in the area. If you're in an area you're familiar with, direct them to a BE that you know has some in stock. If you're pretty sure that there is no stock, sell the schematic. it helps to know the market.
oh and if i'm on naboo, i'll direct em to you.

Well I just sold 2 schematics 2 250count BSN schematics and the resources because all of my facotries were full at the time and the chef had some open. Yes I would have gotten a bit more money if I had done it in my own factories but it comes down to getting repeat business and setting up a good working relationship with your chefs. I only charge 1.5mil for a full load of BSN and charged 700k for the schematics and resources.

Chef wanted a schematic for a chef tissue from me and was willing to pay.
That would have been unethical for me to say yes. He would have taken profits from BE's. It would also be unethical for me to ask him for a chef schematic.
If any of you guys give into this it will hurt the profession. Please resist.
I agree fully with you

I was asked for a schematic yesterday by a regular customer. I did a quick calculation, and told him 1.2 mil for the 1000 unit schematic. His reaction was as expected.
I then asked him what his price for the schematics for 1000 units of the vasarian brandy would be, and what he would think of my selling it. His reaction was quite mixed. If I needed 1000 units of it for my own use, that would not bother him, but if I was making a profit by selling his work on the schematics, that would be different. I asked him if he was planning to use the 1000 units of vasarian brandy he would be using my schematic to enhance himself, and the lights came on...
I did not end up making him the schematic. I do not see selling a schematic as wrong, as I have stated. What I do see is that it is a question of the value of the product, and that who runs it in what factory is not at issue, but the value placed on the skill to do so is.
I might caution those selling schematics at 100 or 200k each for 1000 units, that they are devaluing their own product to a point less than their own cost to produce and sell it. If a schematic sells for 200K, and a crate of 25 units of the suppliment sells for 50K, it doesn't take much to see the economics of the situation.
I have started making tissue and suppliment runs for customers with their supplied materials. I will make and run the schematic, and I charge them significantly less than the normal cost of my finished product for the work they have done providing the materials. This gets them the items they need, and shows them as well just what the concerns of providing the materials are, and it seems to work well on both sides. If I would normally charge 750 for a light additive for example, I usually charge them 350 plus their supplied materials, and the product of the run is completely theirs; I will even make the schematic with their name so that they can tell which are theirs and give them "hopper rights" to pick it up if I am offline.
If they want a schematic, it costs them the same 300 per item that it would for me to run the items for them in my factories. No difference in the base costs, except for the power and maint; they can run them at their convenience or have me run things for them and it helps solve the resource collection and resource quality issues, because I use what they provide.
I understand your point of view Greenstok, but enforcing your own choice as some standard of ethics that everyone should obey is what I take issue with, not your right to decide as YOU see fit for your own actions.

I always tip my BE a good amount for the schematic he makes me, not because it takes 2 seconds to bust it out, but because I respect the work he put into mastering his profession, because I've been there. But asking for millions of credits for a few seconds of works is nothing but greed as far as im concerned, and I would stop going to that person in a flash, and I would make sure other chefs and people I know wouldn't make the same mistake of sending him a tell asking for his services either.
Thank you so much, boogie! You sound exactly like the chefs I work with/for on Bria server! I don't even set my prices: one of them provides me with so much brandy/blue milk/sweesonberry cakes/whatever I need AND provides cash.
The other chef has a doctor alter/ego who buffs me/ rezzes me when I go to sample on Dath or Endor.
You see, this is a game. I don't believe in "economy" that much when it's not real money. I got my fifteen bucks worth each month easy. I do what I can to help my fellow player because in reality I'm a nice guy as well. NOt a sucker, not stupid, just being real.
As far as the schematic goes, I work WITH my chefs and tailors. If they want me to run a schematic, I go to their place, dip into their pantry and make the best I can with what THEY have. In return I get clothes food and general good feelings all the way around. They then will offer cash to me for meat/hide I hunt for them. It works out so well.
