Folks, I'm confuddled. I caught my first fish last night. A tiny little Laa, in the river just north of my home, a bit west of Theed on the planet Naboo. Lovely time catching the little devil. However...

My fish has a two in the corner (like charges), and examining it says it is using 2/5 capacity. Also, my radial menu only gives me the option to Examine or Destroy.

How do I filet my fish?

Do I need something, like Unarmed III (*grin* or any specific skill) to do it?

PLEASE HLEP ME! =)

Keep the radial menu open a little longer, it'll show up as "filet".

Sometimes you need to keep a radial menu open for a few seconds to get all options. probably to save confusion.

Ah fishing.. great pastime..

Yeah bait - that is the tough part. Like others have said the only way to get it is from NPC drop (never seen one that way), Scout forage (best way), or buy it (I give bait away when people buy a pole).

Once you bait the pole and find a fishing hole (which is becoming a challenge now that I live on Tat) it is nothing more than -nibble-, -bite?-, -caught something-, and you have a fish.

Click on the little fish to get your radial menu and wait for the Filet Fish option to pop up. Filet it and you get some chum bait, fish meat, and your empty fish (ready to be mounted on your wall - as long as you have stairs in your house).

If you happen to be on the Tarq server send me an email (name's Ateo) and I'll hook up with a nice fishing rod (over 90 quality) and some bait.

I'll pull that slimy cousin o' mine off the wall tonight and try again, but the general M.O. for Radials is that it stops animating when there are no options left. Well, it stops animating. And there are no options left.

I'll try again anyway though, and if it doesn't work, I'll try and catch another fish. This one might just be a fluke.

Mwahahahhahahahhahahahah!

PS: Anyone able to Fish and Filet without having even Novice Scout?

I recently picked up a fishing pole, and foraged some bait. I am currently on Corellia so i decided to do a little fishing. When i cast my line a little option box came up, telling me about the condition of my bait and asking if i wanted to do this or that. I got come nibbles and even a few bites. But I am curious how i know if i have something on the line. Does a 'Reel In' option come up or does it all just happen on it's own?

I normally pull left/right or reel in a bit... then, when I get a nibble, pull left/right again, and if I get a bite I do a pull up... if it says "caught something?" then I normally hit reel in or tug up and the choices go away...you just watch the reel fight and there ya go. The above works well in a 5 star spot... I don't think there's much method to the madness though. It's more about relaxing and enjoying "it all".

I've caught about 8 fish so far. I need to fish more lol.

Hey everyone This is OtepGod. I've read many posts on how cool it would be if you could put fish on walls. Will you can! This is how you do it

You do need stairs in your house! The higher up they go the better

1. Climb stairs

2. Drop fish on stairs

3. face the fish

4. Make sure you are facing going down the stairs and not going up

5. Click on the fish

6. bring up the screen where it says move forward

7. Click Move forward "fish should now be hovering"

8 Move object like any other furniture in the house.

Once the fish actually is floating you can move it to anywhere in the house as long as it clears the stairwell. and you are able to put your fish on the wall also! How exciting!

I used to be able to just cast my line and leave it alone..but last couple of times I've tried that it hasn't worked..i have to actively choose options...don't know if it's coincidence or what. I'll test tonight since I managed to make a camp close enough to water to fish.

Yes, you now get xp for fishing..survival xp. The bigger the fish, the more the xp (I know i've gotten 116, and i think 121..not sure about the 121, though.)

I was having a lot of problems yesterday and I SWORE they actually sunk so low as to "nerf" fishing. I'm catching a lot today, though.

First, make sure you have a good pole. Mine is 91 effective.

Second, Cast your line...how many stars are there in density? More is better (I assume). If there's a lot of vegetation, your bait could be snagged, so the less vegetation the better.

So this is what I do...

1) Cast line
2) Nibble-->Tug Right
3) Bite--> Tug Up
4) Caught Something?-->Small Reel In
5) Go grab a cup of coffee or do some dishes and come back 5 minutes later to see if i actually caught the fish or not. Sometimes requires me to go do some more dishes and wait another few minutes.

I'll try about the casting and leaving again right now.

PS Unfileted fish take a lot of inventory space. They take 3. So make sure you filet and destroy the carcass unless you want to mount it (I keep my bigger fish). Bait..well..i have more bait than i know what to do with. Either save it or destroy it, as long as you've got some more.

O'kay, While hardly consclusive...

Just cast three times and left it. Only got nibbles, nothing else. Just cast three times and did an action with each nibble...Caught three fish in a row.

If anyone has been able to cast & Leave since we began getting survival xp for fishing, please let us know!

I'm interested in more details, as well. Plus: Is there anywhere to fish on Tatooine?
