the only thing you'd gain by getting the flamer is the fire dot. the pistoleer outdamages the flamethrower's fire dot. so you would really be gaining a melee-range fire and forget dot. an extra bleed if you like.

so if you give up pistoleer for commando.. you lose the bleeds most likely. so youre stuck with a slightly better dot, but you wont be able to apply it from beyond 16m range.

if you give up doc, you give up the ability to buff yourself, heal own poison and disease, revive, super heal, etc. all for... a fire dot.

frankly, you'd be better off dropping SOME pistoleer skills (keep the damage and accuracy trees) and up combat medic for their poisons... there you get a just as good, longer ranged, dots (which are better than fire dot since they cant run into water to get rid of poison).

Well, we're not the best choice for PvP... For PvE, we're good. In fact, I think we're very good for killing computer bad guys and animals. It's living people controlling other characters that cause us the most trouble in combat (and out, it would seem).

But, if any profession is ever going to get nerfed, it's usually us. Breathe too hard, and we get nerfed. Kill a worrt or a durni, and all the other professions start screaming "commandos are too powerful; nerf them, nerf them all!"

***Eclipse - Ryushidosha, freelancer; Scaley Master Carbineer, ranger, merc for hire, and general sociopath...that despises the NGE.
***StarSider - Ja'ahn Woo [PYRO] of the Alliance - The Galaxy's first Jawa commando/carbineer...who also hates the NGE.

good point i do plan on keeping doc skills to where i can use at least stim cs if not ds and also to use enhance bs maybe cs. so therefore i would be able to heal myself fully with one stim. and buff a little. as for pistoleer i think i only need to drop a few to get nov commando and go up the flame tree. these are my current stats

marksman 2 4 2 4

master medic

doc 4 4 2 3

pistoleer 0 2 3 2

brawler 3 0 0 0

i dont think i have any points left

i think thats a waste of points.

How does this look to you:

Master Medic.

Master Combat Medic

Pistoleer 0/4/4/0

Marksman 0/4/0/4

Doctor 4/0/4/0.

With doctor you get to heal disease and poison. with pistoleer you get the damage and accuracy, but sacrifice a bit of speed and the defenses. With master combat medic you gain the +50 terrain negotiation and the ability to heal from range AND to use poisons and diseases as weapons.

think about it... stack health shot1 and 2, throw a health poison, then shoot away. thats a tremendous amount of damage you can deal out in a very short time and to boot you can not only be a kickass support for any group since you can heal from range and cure disease and poison.

Now...what you give up:

You give up pistol firing speed mods and the melee defense mods. But imo, you wont need them since your poison plus stacked dots plus your own damage will drop anything before it can hurt you.. and if it does hurt you, hey, you master medic and master combat medic AND doc. you can heal yourself and ALL 3 ham bars!

You give up the ability to craft your doctor buffs and cure poison/disease kits (combat medic lets you craft the wound and stims). And those you can either buy from bazaar in most advanced planets, or just gather the resources needed for those items and have a friend master doctor make you a template with them and churn them in your factory by the 1000's. Easy.

just asked a few docs in the doctor forum.

instead of doctor 4/0/4/0 i stated above, all you need is 4/4/0/0 to use cure poison and cure disease AND you can also ressurect peeps.

im following this template with my combat medic character

I'm going for Master Armorsmith and I'm pretty high in CH (3/3/0/4). I have a limited number of skill points I can use right now and I'm wondering if I should do fencer or swordsman? The reason I ask is that I want to hit things with a lesser chance of being hit and I don't really care about the uber powerful mind bleed of a swordsman. I also want to do pvp and the less chance of being hit the better Thanks in advance for any advice. This forum is a great place and I commend the fencer correspondent for the EXCELLENT FAQ!

Fencer = Defense

Swordsman = Offense

It sounds like you're looking for a little defense to go with your CH offense ...

Thanks a lot. That helped clarify things greatly. I think I'll go fencer then.

Well I should wrap up profession number 14 tonight

Knowing my luck, 14 will not be my lucky number. I really don't subscribe to any patterns theory, but maybe a hunch or two might help... plus we need more threads about things other than jedi nerfs, those depress me

1. Marksman

2. Scout

3. Creature Handler

4. Armorsmith (Holo 1)

5. Architect (Holo 2)

6. Commando (Holo 3, and the 4th was silent)

7. Medic

8. Artisan

9. Brawler

10. Image Designer

11. Entertainer

12. Dancer

13. Merchant

14. Musician (tonight)

Yeah yeah I know, "do BH!" Well I just might after doing the rest of the crafting professions (yes I will do those, logicdictates) but after that, maybe BH... it was the first elite I was going for and I left because of the investigation tree, but now it seems more reasonable plus you get to bank tons of combat xp for other combat profs. Ideas?

Am MCH and Pistoleer. Plan to drop CH all together and half of pistoleer,in order to do BH pistol and LLC tree. I'm concerned about dropping MCH until I earn enough combat xps to do ranged and BH. Friend said I don't need pets to tank, that there are ways to do it myself.

Question. How hard is it to do PvE without strong pets? How well do BH's tank, or would I need to pick up brawler or something else?

these are my words of advise but i'm not a vet.

first don't drop everything yet. drop as you gain exp in the marks and scout levels.

The advise on the pet's is the more damge you take off the player or animal yourself the more exp you get so i would advise you kill the hole animal yourself unless you kill big animals with your petand gain alot of exp to level it out.

You can tank almost anything in PVE if you wear 80% kinetic resist composite and have buffs. BHs are probably the worst class to choose as a tank considering that we have the least of defenses.
