Thread: Got milk?

apparantely not. I have read through most of the information in the FAQs and I see some infrequent references to milk and it being obtained by milking herbivores. Am I correct in assuming this means that as of right now there is no milk in the game? If so, then that answers my question about why the hell no one ever has any milk for sale. Just made Novice Chef and I was planning out my grind path.

Thanks for your help.

Milk *should* be arriving at the next update, although I personally wouldnt expext it to be any more frequent than eggs are now.

Currently, milk drops in minute amounts off Kinga's, Mokks and Nightsisters and can be found in several spawning containers such as those at Panther City on Talus (can never remember the real name )

Its not that there is no milk, its just it rarely drops and to get enough for food is even rarer. Hopefully with the chef patch, herbivores will be able to be milked if current plans go through.

The /milk command won't be added until at least the next major patch. Right now it's available only as a loot drop from high-level NPCs and debris fields in the panther city on Talus. I was browsing through resource vendors yesterday looking for some decent reactive gas, one guy had four or five single-unit stacks with a 25k sale price.

The best grind recipes are going to use just harvestable resources (flora, water, minerals), which means you'll learn to hate Wastril Bread (Novice Chef) and Ithorian Mist (Mixology II).

When I need to take a rest from fighting, i will sometimes milk creatures. i am assuming this is needed by chefs? what is the general price range on milk? and does anyone know if rangers can harvest more milk from a single creature than a scout? oh yeah, and if i milk enough banthas can i get a master milker title? that would be cool. i also have lots of eggs. does anyone know what these go for usually?

Where do the chefs that actually use milk get it? What creatures provide the biggest harvest of milk? I have been mostly chasing down kaadus and ikopi on naboo. However the ikopis are a skittish lot and it is quite difficult to get a substantial return for the time it takes to chase them around. That is if they aren't spooked by me. The kaadus usually only have one or two females in the bunch. I have only tried a few other species with no luck. The largest stack of milk I have seen for sale is 2700 and is cost me dearly. Oh and btw, does anyone know the command for milking? Thanks in advance again

oh and I apologize for the corny thread title. I am sure that one has been used to exhaustion.

Somevery limited testsI've doneseem to show that bigger animals give bigger milk stacks. So kaadu and Ikopi give 15-25 unit stacks, but a Faamba gives 90-100. Although I think the vertical component is taken into account for staying "in range", so my short Bothan has some trouble unless it's lying down.

One method for getting a pretty decent stack of milk is to head to Dantooine and take Piket missions. They're "low" level (32), so should show up even if you have no combat skills, and non-aggro. Take one in one direction and another a direction that's one off. So if the first one is N, take a second that's NW or NE.If the first mission is SE, take a second S orE.Go to the first lair, milk all the creatures, go to the second lair, milk all the creatures, then go back to the first. By getting missions about 250-300m from each other, you give each one time to "fill up" while taking care of the other. Each Piket gives 90-120 units of milk (although if you get more than 100 you end up with two stacks), and each lair has 3 or 4 creatures. Just watch out for any hurtons in between.

You can also try Lesser Plain Bol missions, those give domesticated milk so you can see whether the stats are any better than the wild milk from the Pikets. The stack size is smaller, I think 75-100.

I was able to gather 6-7k over a pretty milk-focused saturday. This works best if you take the mission from a terminal in an out-of-the-wayplayer city, less traffic to worry about. Traffic = random spawns, and unless you've got some decent combat skills random spawns = trouble.

AFAIK, there's no /milk command, you have to interact through the radial menu.

I haven't got a scout toon, and I tend to find hunting boring anyway - you may want to consider trying to hire a dedicated scout or ranger to supply you with milk. Newbies in particular are good hires for getting milk. And IMO, 10cpu+ is cheap considering the hassle you're saving yourself from.

Damn, I was going to post the piket mission trick, and sciguy beat me to it.

I actually buy just about all my milk, since I spend too much time cooking to be able to supply myself. There's a guy in my town who's a master musician (read: always broke) but has enough combat skill to get piket missions. He does exactly what sciguy described, going back and forth between the two lairs. I pay pretty well for good milk, so for him this is an easier way to make money than destroy missions. He'll put in a couple of hours milking, I get a 5k+ stack of milk, and he makes a nice chunk of credits. It's working out well for both of us.

I've also had pretty good success buying off the bazaar, but hiring a milker is a much more reliable way to get whatyou need. Find someone who's long on time and short on skill and credits, make them a generous offer, and I bet you'll do well.

you may want to collect milk from the pikets on Dantooine. they aren't agro and give up to 110 per piket.

Is there a list of animalsthat can be milked?

I looked at the faq post and sticky posts andfound nothing.

EDIT: Ok I found a 4 month old thread with a decent list. If you know of a site/link with a comprehensive list, feel free to post it. Thanks.
