Thread: Why aren't BE's making a fortune supplying your tissues to Chefs and Tailors ??

Well then comes the other part of the equation after you have the batch of +84 BSN made trying to find a Chef to buy the tissues. I guess I could just put all 40 crates on my vendor but would rather not. I have enough meat for a couple more full batches but would rather line up a customer ahead of time before using my facotry for that long.
Go to your galaxy trade forum, look for people advertising.
Display your Master BE Title all the time.
Ctrl-P, SEARCH, Chef... look for master chef's and ask them if they use nutrients, if they don't, ask them if they would like to try some.
In that order. You best bet is the Chefs that advertise and do high volume, so you can in turn have high volume sales. Next are Chefs that want to buy them, make sure they're serious about quantity, searching for chef's is hit and miss, you will find some masters are 'casual', the type that put alot of different food on their vendors in low quantity (and often quality).
I totally agree aboutNOT putting them on the vendor. The food chef's make in high volume moves quickly, so chefs will want a guaranteed lot of 1000on short notice. Where do you put it? leave it in the factory til you makea sale, then throw it all in a pack and offer it to the chef's vendor. I try to make the sale before even starting the factory, then transport the productover 2 days. first batch of about 20 after the factory has run a day, then the rest when the factory finishes.
To each his own. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what you're doing. I'm saying you're seriously undervaluing your time and effort -- basically doing things for free, which is also fine if that's your goal in this game.
But if you were selling for that price on Ahazi, I would buy up every single crate of every single factory run of yours and sell them for their true market value. I doubt you'll be able to keep up with someone buying you out immediately every single time. With your production process, you wouldn't be able to make more than 2 or 3 factory runs a week -- and that's if you spent all your time in game hunting, harvesting, producing.
The fact of the matter is that 20,000 units of meat for a full factory run has a fair market value of 500k to 1 milion. That's not overinflating, it's not adjusting for perceived value, ... it's the fair value that you should pay a hunter to crawl around in the mud for 4 hours (and it does realistically take 4 manpower hours to gather 20k units of meat ... I dispute your exaggeration that you can gather 10k in 1 hour, but if you can, more power to you).
The fact of the matter is that 60,000 units of flora for a full factory run has a fair market value of 300k to 1.2 million (for exceptional flora at 20 cpu).
If you can make more money just selling the raw resources, why do you bother with the extra step of assembling the tissue and paying more for for factory time/maintenance, ... and with your time. Your time should be the most valuable resource of all.

Ah, opportunity costs... so what could I do that would make me more money?
Lets break down the time it takes to actually gather resources myself.Setting upharvesters, an hour surveying every 5-7days and 10-15minutes every 5-7 days toclean out the hoppers. 2 hours for the meat for a single batch.10-15 minutes to travel around from hunting to harvester planet to home to make a schematic and walk to a factory nearby to start it all running. Resource cost? I posted it already 25k per 1000 units... thats what it costs me out of pocket to get the resources to make Broad Spectrum Nutrients. Lets say 4 hours of my time (if we really stretch things out) to make a batch that sells for 800k credits (95% of which is profit). What could I do in 4 hours to make as much, guaranteed? There's no guarantee in 'uberloot', and missions certainly wouldn't net me 800k in 4 hours.. And the time on harvester placement and maint usually pulls enough resources in 1-1.5 days for 1000 units and I will have the harvesters down for 5-7 days, so I expect that time harvesting to spread out across at least 4 factory runs. The only constraint on production is the factory speed and how often I can go out for 2 hours to hunt meat.
I was pulling 20k meat in 2 hours, my Action bufftimer was just over 2 hours when I applied it at the outpostand I was fighting every rancor I saw. You're minimizing Youths and Gnarled rancors, which go down really fast but only have 1/3 the meat of an Enraged bull. Takingdown 5 youths pulls over 500 meat and is faster than taking out an enraged bull. And I only haveHunting II and I wasn't using Vegash which would increase my harvests.
As for having to move to other meat, there's always a window when you can collect a large amount of a good resource to stockpile for the future. And as resources shift new meat will always be around that can be harvested in quantity, but it might not be on Dathomir.
Harvesting meat isn't profitable? Someone has to harvest it, if you don't you're paying someone else (potential profits) to get the meat. You say harvesting meat is a waste of time, but what else are you gonna do while your factory takes 2 days to produce 1000 items? I'm not sure where you're coming from, but a BE with combat skills can harvest as effectively as anyone else in the game. A BE should be more effective, because they know where to find the creatures... they've been sampling DNA off the creatures long enough, now they know where the creatures are when its time to kill them for meat.

For many of us its not a "waste," its a fun change of pace. Variety is after all the spice of life. I agree though that you won't make as much money doing this (although if you've got the free time, why not).

Instead of paying a price for meats etc they waste their time hunting it.
Very true. I certainly didnt mean to imply that you shouldn't hunt some of your own stuff. Just that it wasn't as profitable in the big picture.By all means should do some of it for the variety.. I know i would.
Crafting tissues is profitable. The initial question why aren't BE's making a fortune comes for a non-BE. I'll clear that up for you. We ARE making a fortune. I don't see anyone here disputing that actually. They all go about it differently that's all.
Just because you can't find someone to sell you a product doesn't mean no one is making it.
The resource requirements are insane. You can buythem or you can hunt them yourself. Regardless, the resource requirements are still insane. Me, I have a job already. This is a video game. I'm supposed to play a game making make believe items for make believe money. Am I going to spend 24/7 doing that because the make believe resource requirements are insane? I see people posting about how they gather stuff and it only takes X number of hours a day. Hours a day? Get a freakin life!! LOL I mean seriously people, if it takes every single day logging in to fill orders that's what I calla job.
I sell tissues for 3K each. Period. I know for a fact tailors and chefs are not going to the poor house when they buy my tissues either. I play BE because its fun plain and simple...and I'm still a multimillionaire ![]()
