You have to look at it in your own view of enjoyment, if you dont care about winning and dont care about xp loss once your finished then do a template thats going to work with roleplay. If you do want to stand a chance then balance rp skills with survival, it can be done.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Tbh I know it's not a nice thing to do but I really have no interest in PvP, I just take my black bar and move on.

I am right in believing Black Barring is not griefing yes?

Why even go Jedi if you don't intend to PvP? You could have saved yourself alot of time by just picking any combat profession to PvE with.

Some real life examples that come to mind...thats like training really hard for many many weeks at being an expert marksman with a particular firearm. And once this expertise was obtained, you sold the firearm lol. Or training for months at self-defense, only to move to a secluded island and live there.

get master lightsabers, master enhancer , 4004 healer.. then you can run away from all the bounty hunters and pvp if you dont want to participate, and you can still kick some ass if you want to hehe

Master Healer, then you can help your friends. 4xxx enhancer is a get out of pvp free card. You can opt not to master Sabers since you are not going to pvp, and use those extra for some powers, since they look cool for rp.

Also, there are a lot of reasons to be a jedi and not pvp. PvE jedi with good tanks outdamage most other profs, and rp is a big part of this game. I have had fun rping my jedi and im not even knight yet.

Different strokes for different folks, i say.

How so? You do realize Jedi is a PvP profession, yes? You also realize that its a forced PvP profession. The Devs even had a disclaimer/warning about it.

Just pointing at something and saying "Thats flawed" doesn't make it so.

Erm... how about wanting to roleplay a Jedi? Roleplay, you know why we're all here in this Roleplaying game? Is the concept alien to you? Do you just want to "pwn" everyone around you? I certainly don't.

I want to roleplay a Jedi have fun whilst doing it not to be the big bad l33t Jedi that you see around coro etc.

Yes I'm on the terms, no it wasn'tintentional getting on them, pretty hard to avoid when someones Janta mission spawns 20m away so I ran 20 or so meters in the opposite direction only to get scanned by a troop of stormies (and I'm imp lol) that appeared from nowhere.

Tbh I know I could play KOTOR but I want to play with my friends. If I wanted PvP I would still be playing Q3.

And your analogy of learning marksman and self defence then not using them is flawed.

Unfortunatly that concept truly is alien to many ppl. I applaud your resolve to roleplay and would suggest that

you simply choose a final template that you will enjoy playing. You might also consider doing the knight trials

and then dropping out of the FRS, like so many others have done, so you have the title and cool new robe.

The worst possible thing you could do in this game, or any other for that matter, is to let someone else dictate

the way you play -whether through forced PvP, template choice, or via lame impertinent analogies.

Remember: This is YOUR "greatest story ever told", not Joe PvP's.

Whatever you decide, just make sure you have fun and pay no mind to the nay-sayers.

Unbreakable,

You do realize that pointing at something and calling it "PvP" doesn't make a person less able to play it any way they want to?

If the guy wants to play his jedi as a support role and help his friends out, I say to him "Go out and have fun, bud! More power to ya!"

To anyone who wants to roleplay a jedi, do it and have fun. Enjoy the game.

I don't like pointless grinds.
Thank you for reintroducing decay!!!
I like a complex, immersive world simulation, full of possibilities, challenges and roleplay.
I want a player driven, crafting-based economy.

Jedi, unfortunately, don't have any say in the matter of forced PvP once they hit the BH terminals. None of you guys are getting it, so I'll say it again. The Jedi profession/class is a forced PvP one. The only option out of forced PvP is to never make the BH terminals, which means you are essentially a non-factor within the game, since you can only kill animals by yourself.

Try and comprehend this fact. Its not an option once you're on terminals. Even if you Force Run from every encounter, the moment a BH lands the first attack, you have entered into forced PvP, albeit even if the encounter only lasts for 20 seconds.

Stop living in denial lol.

Sorry Unbreakable....your theory is a little messed up...and your barking up the wrong tree...

Not all jedi have to go into the FRS and PvP all day. He can choose that any way he wishes. Those of us who chose to retain our knight status PvP...some all the time, some when we want to.

There is no such thing as "forced" anything. BH are free to hunt us yes...but thats a minor issue with a completed template like he will have when hes doing what hes dicussing here. So if he stays out of the FRS, he is avoiding PvP...and I think that anyone who cant respect another players choice about his OWN chracter...is childish at best.

Its his game, he can play it how he wants to. Quit trolling the boards and just being argumentative with no real points and getting posts deleted. You seem to do this way too often, and you gain nothing out of it...not even the respect of your own community of players.

Nope, just because Jedi has forced PvP in it does not make it an exclusively PvP profession. That's like sayingthat just because being asheriff involves at timespulling out or shooting his gunmeans its a shooting profession. Yes, jedihave to pvp when necessary, whether they like to or not, just as asheriffhas to occasionally pull out his gun and maybe even shoot people, but that is only one aspect of the profession. Thereis the ticket writing ,the paperwork, thedomestic diplomacy, and the myriad other aspects that often outshine the RL PvP nature of being a sheriff.

SO it is with jedi. Some jedi rarely pvp. Some jedi knight level jedi rarely pvp. I have been a jedi and ont he terminals for about 2 months and have pvp'd like 3 times, playing about 2-5 hours every day. So to say jedi is a profession that forces you to pvp is accurate. To say it is an exclusively pvp profession and that its stupid to become one if you don't want your focus to be on pvp is like saying its stupid to become a sheriff if you dont want to run around getting in gunfights everyday.

RP wise, Jedi were like the Sheriffs of the Old Republic, so this analogy makes a bit more sense, you dig?

Try and comprehend this fact: If someone doesn't want to PvP as a jedi and simply wants to roleplay (as

overwhelmingly unacceptable as that is to you), all they need to do is pickup a few handy skills to avoid this

to an extent. As a young padawan he can use feign death. A bit further down the path force run 2 or 3 is an

effective option to engaging in PvP. At knight level one may simply remove themselves from the FRS. Those

are just the most obvious ways of greatly limiting the impact of PvP on the gameplay of those who want to

roleplay instead of fighting one another for perceived dominance.

Of course, the best way to remove oneself from PvP is to simply stay off the terminals -though this can be

difficult with random npc spawns and other things which may add visibility.

So you see, though the jedi profession has mechanics which include solitude @ the risk of PvP peril and

later, encourage PvP in order to progress through the questionable "end-game"...it is simply naive to say

that jedi can only be playes AS a PvP profession. There are those who find great reward in accomplishments

and experiences beyond the scope of "pwning" and "ownRship" as hard is that appearantly is for you to

understand.

So, in closing, give the guy a friggn' break already! If he wants to roleplay his jedi then who the heck are you to

tell him he can't???
