Just master what you find interesting and maybe it will be one you can get credit for when Pub 10 comes out.

i've got a guy on my server that is thinking of going imp. he has -5000 of imp faction now and he wants to buy enough faction to go col. im sure this is a stupid question but i just want to make sure.... i can still delegate enough faction to him for promotions if he promotes himslef as he goes right? since we both have to be overt (different factions) i was worried it wouldn't let me delegate faction to him since we are on different sides.
thanks in advance to anyone who can reassure me of this.

Yes. When I give people the full promotion to Colonel, I have them buy ranks as they get maxed out. The maximum number of faction points you can hold is the number of faction points you spent on your last rank * 10.1.

I don't beleive he would need to be overt if just you were delegating. If hes rebel have him resign to go neutral. Delegate him the 5200 needed to go imp...have him become imp...and then proceed to delegate him the faction to reach colonel, him training each rank as you go.

There's no good way to rush poli xp. You get xp by having people vote for you in elections. If you've got the friends who want to start a city and make you mayor, then all you need is the apprentice xp (from training others in any skill) to get novice and you'll get 100 poli xp per vote per week from then on out. Good luck with your new city!

The only way to get xp is by citizen votes. You get 100 xp per citizen per week. Once a citzen is a delared resident, they no longer have to vote for you, their vote is automatically cast for you. Obviously the more citizens you have, the faster your xp will accrue.
A word of advice on placing your city hall. Make sure at least 10 people are online and present when dropping city hall. You only have 24 hours from the time it's placed to have at least 10 residents declared or city hall goes poof. You as mayor count as 1 towards the 10 and city hall is your declared residence.
Good luck. It's hella fun and tons of hard work, but very, very rewarding.
