I'm quite fond of my BE lvl 10 RazorCat. She does quite a good job keeping up with me when I'm hunting on foot, she tanks most of the stuff I'm hunting "day to day" quite well (I'm also master rifleman). I'd never use her against any of the real high end stuff (kimos / kryats) but for most other things, I pull it, she tanks it, I take it down. Harvest, repeat. And she's fun to have around when I'm camping or fishing, I just put her on guard in case something wanders by or breaks my maskscent.

Well yeah, otherwise I would have said you can get 3 boxes in CH unless you have FS stuff. ![]()

Master Ranger/Master Rifles and 3 CH boxes is the route I'm going too. I have about six pets already:
Two BE blurrgs - Pancho & Lefty
Dune Bantha - Spud
Bantha - Blue
Carrion Spat - Woodstock
Wrix - Hawkeye
Cu Pa - Chalupa
and five droids
Doink my harvesting R4
Tater my harvesting probot
Ollie my trapping eyeball droid (can't remember the nomenclature)
and two mouse droids who will be finding other homes soon.

I am a ranger with some ch skills--here is my template so far:
Ranger 4/4/4/0
Rifleman 4/4/4/3
CH 0/4/0/0
Novice Medic
All the way up the CH branch I chose I used a lvl 12 BE narglatch with great success. Upon acquiring my 4th box I figured it was time to get another pet and picked up a BE gurreck lvl 24--amzaingly I have not used either pet very much since getting the 2nd one--probably cuz by this time I had moved far enough up the rifleman tree that I could drop quite a number of things before they could reach me and thus a pet for tanking was not really needed. However, having a good high HAM with good damage pet to tank is wonderful tool of the trade.
I thoery I could drop out the camping branch of ranger and gain more CH skills, but hey I just love using the uber ranger camp, and the chicks dig it too.

And now for something completely different.
I have no CH. None. No "bo-pets". You all can't have medic and a triple master and bio pets. I feel mastering a combat class is importan - speed, specials, accuracy. I also like being a Master Ranger, and the 40% harvesting bonus will be nice.
I use droids. An R model tank/fighter and a Probot fighter. No skill points involved. I can have novice medic and 3 SP left to use in FS. I am a Master Pistoleer and a Master Ranger.
It's not that I dislike bio pets, but why spend skill points on something I get for free? Too many pets have one attack, and it's usually kinetic. How many baddies have kinetic resists? How many pets are affected by AOE Intimidate and beat feet?
Sure, I am smart and generally take on one creature at a time. The droid tanks, I trap and fire and we win about 99.5% of all battles. Yes, pets could do the same, maybe better, maybe worse. But can you heal you??
The main argument is why spend skill points?
food for thought

Umm, because I like using critter pets, i.e. adds to the enjoyment of the game for me.
Actually I use (not 100% of the time) a pet and a droid. Pet=tank and driod=harvest. Though as I think i mentioned above, I haven't been using my pet that much lately, nor the droid.

I like the featutre now that the pets will sit down, scratch themselves and wander a bit to look at things. Great touch.
BUT, what I hate is being a MCH, give the pets a command to follow and they stand there. Or, they move really really slow and I notice I am 100m+ from them.
Also, I noted that they do not always attack something when I tell them to. And yes, I am targeting an enemy. :-)
Is there anything in production that will address this? I've not talked to any other CHs because I'm out in the wild alot.
;-)

Couple of things that might help ya...
If you do the..
/tellpet attack
/tellpet follow...
...to get the pet to draw agro and bring the target out to you... then your pet has a bug where it will not engage again. He seems to get stuck in his pathing. Sometimes a cure for that is to tell him to follow again and move away from his location to break the lock he has. Sometime works.. sometimes not.
Another new thing is that pets dont attack their own species. So dont go usin narglatches to hunt other cats, or pet bugs to hunt spiders. They wont do it. (cannibalistic thing to them).

What works for me is to tell the pet (spatial or tellpet) to attack and to follow. Then if the NPC does not get close enough (ranged profession mauler on Naboo for instance) I just walk over with my pet (the mauler is so focused on the pet he/she ignores me
) Once the pet is in melee attack range the blood begins to spill. Dead mauler.
On the no attack at all I have only had that if I tell the pet to attack its own kind. Makes sense sort of.

I keep hearing this, but I used my nargs just last night to take on some plain tusk cats. I haven't tried my nargs on other nargs. I'll test this and report what I see.
