Thread: FAQ
Oh, some more Questions for a BE to answer:
Can BE's improve my creatures? No. They can only make new creatures and healing kits for CH.
Are BE pet stims (healing kits) better than medical stims? Do they have usage requirements? BE pets stims are better in most ways. They have no usage requirements, so no medical skills are needed. They do not function on players, only pets. They do recover mind injuries, which medical stims do not. They heal exactly what they say they heal for, with no random variations. Very high level pet stims can get up to 1600 damage healed at one in all three HAM bars - but they take 24 fish to make, which is very hard or expensive to get, so expect to pay a lot for them
Can I get a crate of pet stims? No, you can't. BE good are not able to be made in factories. Eavery one must be hand crafted and experimented. This prevents them from being crated. It also drives up the cost.
Can a BE make any creature? No. BE's are limited to a few recipes, about 30. Many of these are bugged untrainable, and many of these aren't competitive against wild creatures.
What about the Kimogila? Yes we make them. They are bugged untrainable. They are also about CL 70, and so could not be tamed by any CH even if they weren't bugged. They will likely never be tamable, so never buy one thinking they will be fixed some day.
What can BE's make for CH's? Very little that you would want. We have a lot of non-CH pets, the best of which is the Kahmurra, a CL 15 pet. Bantha's, Guamala's and Guf Drolg are also popular. We have a large number of CL 20-25 pets, the best of which are probably the Narglatch and Razor Cat, both at CL 21. A GSP eats either one for lunch. At this level we also have Anglers, Tortons, Falumpasets and Bolma's (Bolma's are total cowards in combat). We have nothing for 35 that isn't bugged untamable - Blurgs and Snorbals would be nice. At level 50, we do have Rancors and Gurrecks.
Are BE pets better than wild ones? Sort of. A master BE can make a rancor with about 20% more HAM and Damage. He can make a Narglatch about 20% better than a wild one. the question is whether you want a Narglatch when Grand Wrix and GSP's are around. So, we can make any of the creatures we are allowed to make better than wild, but you may be able to find a better, different wild creatures. Our creatures may use their special attacks more, but it is unconfirmed.
Can BE's add special attacks or armor to a creature they make? Can they change creature color or size? No. They come as they are. Supposedly, someday, we will be given that capability.
Do BE pets come as adults? No, they look like adults while they are just inventory items, and they can be dropped in houses and look like adults. But once they are tamed, they become a baby and have to grow like anything else.
What would I go to a BE for? Pet Stims, Vitality Packs, and certain creatures.
Fly fly tired of old questions... we need this at the top right next to creature stored issue
Fact: Seems that if an Aggressive creature has a Ferociety of 0, and is level 25 or below, I can tame it and give it to another CH that is 1/1/0/0 despite their race and them not having CH 2 for aggressive taming.
Assuming its the ferociety level being 0, that allows them to use it since it has already been tamed by me before hand.
Any more news on this? Tried it with a Quenker, level 22. Worked just fine. Which are very nice pets, better imo than GW at 1/1/0/0 if you can find a friend to tame it for you. 4500 HAM, but not much dents it with AR 1 and 40% resists to most everything.
wookiee 2/2/x/x CAN tame and CAN use a graul mauler. if you're having trouble with this, sorry. it worked just fine for me.
wookiee novice CH can tame aggros. not many CL sub15 aggros are out there (and none come to mind that I'd rather have than a mtn krevol or rock beetle), but wooks can tame them at novice. the bonus says 'taming', and does not specify whether this applies to 'viscious' or 'wild' creatures. my experiences suggest that it applies to BOTH. at CH 1/1/x/x I was able to tame and use CL 25 bloodseeker mite queens, and CL 24 kliknik defenders. both are aggro.
use maskscent as little as possible, since when it breaks, it can cause nonaggro mobs to attack you. that said, if you're taming aggros, you'll want maskscent up, if only to keep the parents from attacking you. even better? get a ranger to apply camoflage. why? because even though camoflage is broken and unreliable, it SOMETIMES will work. the real bonus is that when you ARE detected, you will not run the risk of provoking an attack (while a broken maskscent can cause this).
some mobs don't need to break maskscent to attack you. mountain squills and shaupauts regularly aggro on me while my maskscent is up.
before you tame, /peace. do it EVERY time. put it in a taming macro. whatever. it helps, since you're going to fail at least ONCE on a baby you want, and you'll end up attacking it, and after you manage to fight off the whole pack/herd/flock/whatever, you're going to look down on the corpse of speciesofpetyouwant (baby) and you'll feel like a moron. if you fail, run away. the baby will eventually stop attacking, and you can try again. AFTER you /peace.
and a little advice...
DO NOT let your taming level exceed your training level. all you get is a SLIGHTLY higher chance of taming what you can already use, which means that at CH 4, 3, x, x, you can't TOUCH a CL 50 pet in the wild, nor can you call one. CH 3, 4, x, x is a much better lineup, especially if you...
get management 3 as soon as you can. you can use 2 pets, and 2 pets means double CH xp.
might as well go ahead and get management 4 while you're at it. the 'transfer' command allows you to trade/sell pets, and that +5 control level will help you more than you might think. trust me on this. with CH 3, 4, x, 4, you'll be able to use 2 fully grown CL sub25 pets (+50 control levels) AND you can tame almost anything in the game.
get empathy 1. the 'trick' command is useful. after this, leave off empathy until you have the other skills at 4. THEN go ahead and train it to 4, get the extra stored pets and the +5 control level. Then go for master, or not.
I hate that there is a very definite advantage to this order of learning skills (too 'cookie-cutter' for my liking), but as long as the rules stay in the current form, this is the best way to do it.
Q3. Advantage of Novice CH over nonCH
You can hold four pets rather than two, and you can control aggro pets. You can also control pets thatwill be beyond your control when they grow to adult, as long as they do not exceed your current level. That is, you can use a gurreck at 0/0/0/0, which willbe CL50 at adult, until it gets to CL16.
-----WHAT? you can use a gurreck at 0/0/0/0, i am 99% positive this is WRONG. You cannot call a creature out unless you can control it's *adult level*. And novice CH (besides wook) can *not* control aggro pets. Correct me if you can prove me wrong, but i am sure i am not.
i meant to change the color of this part.... read above post as:
