This was very entertaining to read. Incase anyone was wondering, I did ban him from my vendors. I don't mind the reselling as I think it is fair business practice, but I did not think his price was fair. So, I cut him off. If he was offering the same item at twice the price, so be it. Seven times just wasn't fair to the people he was preying on, so I stopped it.

He did just send me a tell asking if there were any new painting I could provide. I chose to ignore him.

My question centers around a business venture that I am going to start as soon as Viggo gets to Master Smuggler. I plan on having vendors set up in my house with the following categories (1 vendor for each):

  • Speed Sliced Weapons

  • Damage Sliced Weapons

  • Encumbrence Sliced Armor

  • Effectiveness Sliced Armor

  • Smuggler Supplies

I was wondering if anyone has come up with pricing models for pre-sliced goods (weapons/armor) and what those pricing structures are. What I have thought about so far was some sort of base increase to the item for the slicing and then an additional variable amount added on that is determined by the slice percentage. I am going to try to work out relationships with armorsmiths and weaponsmiths on my server to get bulk pricing on weapons/armor to slice and then put the items on the vendor as I slice them.

One I thought about was: Base Price + Slicing Fee + Variable Fee (toying with it being 500 creds per Slice percent)

Example (FWG5 Pistol): 5000 (Base Price) + 5000 (Slicing Fee) + 16000 (32% Slice)

I am not quite sure if that is the formula I would tryto use and tweak based on experience with itbut thought I would come out here first to see if anyone has tried this before and what they found that works and what they know doesn't work.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have done a similar thing myself and I worked out a formula in Excel which seems to work for me.

My basic slicing price is 200 creds per point, I build thid into the equation. In my example I buy crates of weapons (25) from my guild weaponsmith at a discount from standard retail price. I then begin by slicing through the whole crate. You have to bear in mind your gonna get some bad slices so the better slices need to make up for this, whilst at the same time pricing the bad slices so they will still sell.

I broke my formula into 4 slicing brackets:

0-20: RETAIL PRICE + (200*PERCENTAGE SLICE)

20-24: RETAIL PRICE + (25% of RETAIL PRICE) + (200*PERCENTAGE SLICE)

25-29: RETAIL PRICE + (50% of RETAIL PRICE) + (200*PERCENTAGE SLICE)

30-35: RETAIL PRICE + (100% of RETAIL PRICE) + (200*PERCENTAGE SLICE)

This seems to work for me, though I have not been doing it that long yet. But early indications are good.

Just my thoughts...

:::looks around, and whispers:::

Hey all, i'm a slicer on chilastra and i spent my weekend slicing weapons and armor outside the starport in Theed. At no point over the weekend did anyone voice a problem with my pricing until an annoying person kept bugging me about it yesterday afternoon. She told me my prices were way too high, and that i'd never get any business. Meanwhile i'd been slicing pretty much non stop all weekend at those prices.

So i just wanted to ask (i know there are tons of posts on this, but i wanted to get current and accurate info) right now i'm charging 5k per slice of weapons and armor, 2k for containers, and the 5th slice of equal or lesser value is free. For returning customers that give me a bunch of business i've gone down to 4k and 1.5. Is this to high or to low or right on par?

:::looks around again, and says "oh yeah, i never saw you, you never saw me...":::

Thanks much...

I charge 7k normally on Eclipse. 5k isn't expensive, people just aren't used to paying higher now that everyone stopped with 100 credits per percent.

Expect this to be cool and colorful? Well me too, sorry!

I took the advice of another Master Smuggler

When asked prices I just reply "You pay whatever the slice is worth to you"

I average about 7K per slice and most flat prices charged are 3-5K on our server.

People when given a choice will be generous and I rarely (in fact never) have gotten a tip for services and felt that I was not paid sufficiently.

I charge 5k. I sliced a few times this weekend and only one person made a comment. Said something like "Whew! I've seen 3k before..." then proceeded to trade his weapons to me.

I think after a bit longer at 5k I may raise my prices to 7k and see how that flies.
