One of my favourite pastimes is to search the vendors and find people selling good at really high prices then check on them later as their timer ticks down with no sales, its the easiest way to stop inflated prices, dont pay.

Of course with vendor search with max min price its easier to find what you want i perconally would never go above 5cpubut at 5 it would have to be special.

Capitalism folks - if you don't like the price, don't buy. If no one will buy a price you're willing to sell at, don't sell.

I'm a combat character - always have been - and yet I have always dabbled in mining. Sometimes, its under contract, sometimes its for laughs - but I price appropriately to the market and have never been disappointed. (Heck I don't even have surveying anymore, I just drop random personal harvs to see whats there and mine whatever looks good.)

Generally speaking I check the market for a given type of resource, then undercut the going price by 10-20% and sell out overnight. I just recently lucked onto a haul of iron with 5 stats over 900 (inc OQ), its selling as fast as I can pull it out of the ground at 8-10cpu. If it was just grind quality junk, I'd be dropping it for 1-2cpu.

But either way, I'm only in it for laughs. I can make 80k or so an hour just running missions solo - so aside from the big contracts the money from harvesting is peanuts. Anyone trying to tell me I charge too much gets laughed at and ignored. (Haggling is fine - I love it when some clever person offers to buy in bulk after seeing one of my public vendor sales, but berating me is pointless)
