Thread: Pet Pricing
45k? that sounds about right compared to the CH's rancor price..
i think ill sell them for 30-40k though...
I usually sell 12k+ ham gurrecks for 50k, rancors even for 60k credits.
For the kahmurras, they aren't worth my time (heard of rock beetles already?
)
And for bolmas and stuff i usually charge 25k
its sth. about CL of pet x 1000c for my sales price
This is a great question, and the randomness of the replies underscores how hard it is to value our merchandise
...
It's funny that whether I make a Gurcat or a Kahmurra, etc, I end up using the same amount of resources (roughly), but there are obviously MARKED differences in HAM, speed, damage, and, in the case of the Gualama, armor (incidentally I do recall a dev post that Gualama armor is NOT broken
). The major difference is the time I have invested to level, and thus what I can create as a consequence (and ofcourse gathering or buying resources for the meat--which is both expensive and time-consuming unless you're always out on a hunting party).
So, the actual costs of me making a CL 9 or a CL 15 (or for that matter, my belly-scratching Blurrg, CL 50) are nearly identical. It obviously doesn't meet the "classic" crafting sales working out to 2-5 cr/unit of "stuff" used to make the object. We modify it based on power (like the weaponsmiths do, I'm pretty sure).
I really liked the equation idea. What I've been doing is pretty much 1cr/HAM with 100/hit point damage increase I make with experimentation. So, my dewbacks run around 4500-5000 or so; Kahmurra's 2500-3000, etc. And I too have noticed that even though I don't think very highly of say, the carrion spat or the bearded jax for that matter, that people are buying everything I make.
Warmly, Xanda
If a creature doesnt have armor, then the creature isn't worth using _except_ as a "fun pet".
People ask me all the time what the best creature is that I can make for any given level. 90% of the time, my answer is "findX in the wild."
Being honest with other players is better than making a quick buck ![]()
the bioengineered torton is pretty comparable to the ravenous torton in the wild despite being 8 cl lower. i would put it more into the 'fun pet' category but for its cl its not bad.
pricing by ham is a very poor idea in my opininon as it favors some of the inferior pets. personally i base what i charge more by the taming level - its simpler for me and for the customer. i try to explain what strengths or weaknesses each may have so people have the information to choose what they are looking for.
