master fencer tk x1xx swords 0434 doc 4002 with 1 skill pt left
that temp looks really appealing except the CL lvl, I'd go master fencer, tk 0300 swords 434 doc 4000 to get lvl 80 if u PvE
/sigh i had a response typed up but the window poofed when i tried to open a music file, so i'll start again. this question is asked a lot but i don't see it answered in the FAQs, probably partly because there is no one "best" answer.
you don't *need* master artisan for subcomponents in the same way you do for DE. you might if barrels worked (the largest drink container in theory), but they've been bugged forever so don't worry about them. you do need 4400 artisan for the max experimentation points on artisan foods, which i (and most chefs) make in addition to the actual chef foods. i ended up taking master artisan because i need the xx4x line for merchant and the xxx4 line to survey for my own resources anyway.
the most useful skill boxes for a chef to have IMO are: m chef / 4444 artisan / 0010 tailor (for trim, a subcomponent of casks, the largest actually working drink container) / some merchant / m bio-engineer (for tissues to enhance your food). unfortunately there is no way to fit this all on one character.
some chefs just buy all their BE tissues, some go 0404 BE so they can make their own lights and mediums, and just buy the heavies from a BE (you do get all the experimentation points from 0404, the master box has some schematics but no further exp points in it), and some (like myself) have an alt MBE.
this forum is one of the best in the game i think, as long as you read the stickies and don't ask the really obvious questions that are answered there already, we don't flame a lot
good luck to you whatever you decide.

cl80 and I can tank around 2 MLS (with good pre-curb sabers) before I get in trouble, 3-4 non-MLS
none Jedi I could tank a hell of a lot, easy, I believe at times I've had 5+ riflemen hitting the crap out of me before and laughing at them.
The real trick is not to tank people at all, use Snares and KDs on people and run around a lot. If fighting range weave in and out of walls, pillers, trees to get out of LOS. They're not hitting you and you don't have to tank.
Since without ruby instant heals this sort of thing will be a lot harder but then I tended only to use the instant heals when I was KDed and had the recovery bug running ![]()
Thanks for the advice guys, it's very useful.
I made a bit of a boo boo last night. For some reason I decided to 'respec' to WS and Smuggler...
why...? I don't know. Moment of madness. Anyways, after about 3 hours or messing about with WS and wondering why the hell I chose Smuggler when I am and always will be a crafter. I surrendered all the skills I had. Every last one! lol What a waste if a respec. I have now started the Manually route to grinding Chef, which I much prefer to getting as a respec. I will learn as I grind my way up. Once I have Master Chef I will decide where I am going to go from there.
I don't tend to ask many Q's, as I read the FAQ's. However, I am sure I will come up with a query or two in the future.
Cheers!

any template sugestion for the village and do i have to fill up all 24 boxes before the trials?
Thanks
depends what you wanna unlock. you want all combat? then like the other guy said, MBH is a good suggestion. You can cap 3 different weapon types at 900k each, plus you get a 900k cap on combat xp (which is 3 times the cap of other professions). Or you can go melee and get into spin groups. That's major xp as well. Get at least Polearms 4 in brawler for Sweep attack, then get any two melee profs you want, maybe a tree of another melee. You can cap 1.2 mil eachon two masters and 900k with just one tree. Plus all you do is spin, spin, spin.
If you want Senses xp, get at least one tree of ranger. You can cap scout xp at 900k, and it trades in for 8:1. I've been doing that. Getting only one tree of ranger sacrifices a lot, however. CL goes way down unless you either master, or get 3 trees. I can't abide getting a crapload of trapping xp (/shudder), so I don't have master ranger. But with my template, master swords, a tree of ranger, and some other randomness, my CL is a lowly 60-something, and even with the lowered xp I get for lower CL,I still can make 2-3 village trips if I've got several hours to grind. Once a day at least.
So really depends on what FS skills you want. If you want to trade in only combat xp and get those FS skills, go MBH or melee spinning temp. If you want senses xp, definitely get some ranger.
