Ok, simple question: Who's been complaining about monopolies? Usually when someone is nerfed, it's due to some huge uproar from players about a situation ingame...this excuse came out of nowhere.
No it didn't come out of nowhere. this was one of the reasons given when the vendor changes first were discoussed in the 'In Development' thread months ago.
You are correct, but what I was saying is that even back THEN, it came out of nowhere...there is no outcry to stop monopolies. I didn't believe it then, and still don't. I just thought it odd that NancyJ would even bring that garbage up without a disclaimer first stating that: "the following is a complete lie and an insult on our intelligence"...

Believeie it or not the developers do have their own opinions on the game and their own thoughts on what problems exist in game.
LOL....I do believe it!!!! In fact, that seems to be a big part of the problem. Don't get me wrong, sometimes they may do something right, but when they go wrong--boy do they go wrong! This is a big move they're about to make, and I know they can't please everyone, but they should go with the majority here--even if they don't want to...why? because we actually have to pay to play this game.
If I was allowed to do so I'd reproduce for you the 10 page thread discussing crafting monopolies form the correspondant forum.
maybe--I'll have to take your word on that--but given that, I still don't think that's the true motivation behind this move. TH made referrence to "technical issues", and made that seem minor--however, many of us feel that is the real reason for this particular nerf. The technical issue?....some think it's database related, and I'd have to agree.
This was discussed long before these merchant changes and were discussed with no relation to database issues or limiting anything.
Why was this being discussedjust betweendevs and correspondents? Doesn't this effect the gaming population? I don't remember a correspondent ever asking us if we thought we'd go for something like this to prevent monopolies...not once...hmmmm, if it was, what was the player feedback?
Currently you can still store unlimited items on your vendor as long as you keep them in the stock room and refresh them every 7 days.
I have an alt that's about to become Master Merchant, but I'm not a dedicated Merchant....not yet anyway. I think it's imortant we all make a stand here--EVERYBODY--destroying a
Yeah, isn't it wonderful?
If the DB is under as much strain as you think it is they wouldnt be adding more random pointless loot for you to haord with every patch.
I like you NancyJ, so i won't comment on this one...

Like i said before, this wasn't just discussed between Devs and correspondents. This was mentioned MONTHS ago when it first got put into the development discussion.
Any BE that wants to stock a vendor has to dedicate enough points as it is just to get a vendor, and forget it if they wanna eb able to defend themselves while sampling... having mask sent is a must if you are sampling stuff to make pets, and there is another line of skill points... It kinda sickens me really, for them to limit vendors like this...

I've been banging my head against a brick wall telling them all this, but we're still waiting for dev feedback on this weekends events... taking this long about it - I feel an announcement coming on...

Unless you have an insider point of view on the announcement I won't hold my breath.
They held off on annoucing the reversal of the crafting change until just before the publish... I doubt expect an announcement until late in the week at best...
Heck we still haven't seen patch 9.3 b/c the messed something up bad, so I expect that to take presedence over this, as it should.
I just think its funny that something no one asked for (I don't forsee merchants wanting this to be the fix for people having vendors that don't have merchant) hits the Test Server without warning. Yet stuff people have been BEGGING for, like fixes to our pet level problems, or much needed combat fixes are being passed over.
Its what I have come to expect from SOE after 2 years... I played PlanetSide before SWG, and the Devs of it did the EXACT same thing with regards to publishes and patches... and they still haven't really given a full combat balance, though close to 2 years later it is almost done.

Then it seems an emergency situation exists, and that my Merchant (and everyone else's) must visit all their Vendors and get them at or under the limit (110 items listed per Vendor in my case, since my char is a Master Merchant) TONIGHT, since the rule change goes into effect on August 10th.
I wonder if Devs mean midnight August 10th their local time? Where is SOE/SWG based?
August 10th? Is this a realistically expected date for the change? If so, the biggest, most interactive player event that has been planned for months and months, on Intrepid, will be summarily ruined.
The numbers for Master Merchant vendors is too low by a long shot. Master Merchant should have access to 1500 items or more PER vendor. That's NOT unrealistic.
I really don't want to quit but nerf Master Merchant vendors to 110-120 items and SOE is practically hitting the cancel button for my two accounts and my husbands account (MBE, MM, MBE).

Usually when the rednames are so quiet about a big issue on the corres forum they're busy in meetings building up for an announcement either publically or privately to the corres.
