this will all be so much easier when they let you see the CL of a BE creature before it has been tamed. of course, thats probably 2 months off

Hey there bio-engineers. I don't know if you are able to make anything with a CL of 10 or lower, but if you can, what is the best that can be made? My cowardly gurreck was turned into a minor sludge panther after the patch, and I'd have to imagine there is something a little better than that...

Your question is relative. This is why:

I madea templateyesterday out of mountain squill and cu pa DNA (I was goofing around to see what would happen). I placed the template in an eopie skinand I ended up with a level 10 animal with a ranged attack. Have you ever seen aneopie that spits? LOL

I could have placed the template in a bearded jax or a kahmurra and got similar results. There is no correct answer to your question anymore.

Well I guess in order of priority, I'd be looking for a nonch pet with the best combination of ham and resists that can be used as a tank. Special attacks would be secondary for my purposes, I just need something to be a meat shield for me while I shoot from a distance. Does that clarify my question?

What I would recommend you do is contact your local bio-engineer. What they will need to know is what animal style you are looking for (insect, dog, cat, dinosaur, etc). Keep in mind the body style will not dictate the specific outcome of the finished product. Its all based on the DNA used to create the animal now. You can even pick from a variety ofcolors.

Your local BE will obtain DNA from various level 10 wild animals (or a combination of high level and low level animals to get CL10). Let him or her know if you'd like special attacks. Ranged attacks are nice to have on a low level animal. The final product may or may not be what you expected so flexiblity is recommended.

You will never get a true "meat shield" using a CL10 animal. It is going to rely on you as much as you rely on it. Ask the bio-engineer for a supply of pet meds as well. You'll need them.

Heh.. I'm still quite a novice at BE, but I'm an avid tinkerer, so I'm having fun with it. I'm no super-grinder, so I'm only 0-1-2-1 BE. Yesterday, after the patch and the server came up, I did a little bit of DNA sampling. 1 Plains Hunter and a handful of Spineflap Guards. All of my samples were Average or Above Average quality. I attempted to make my first new creature. oooh... new creature skins! I figured I'd make the cruelest, most foul-tempered rodent anyone's ever seen. (Yeah, I'm a big Monty Python fan)

Not understanding really how the cloning system works, I just took some of my DNA samples and assembled a generic DNA template, and then created a Vir Vur. The final outcome: CL10, 1500+ H, 1200+ A, 1000+ M, Ranged Attack, Special Stun attack, and 1% resist to everything across the board. Not bad for a total novice on his first try. For a personal pet, it's sure going to beat the heck out of my Ultra-Nerfed™ Minor Sludge Panther (900 HAM) who only the day before was a nice CL15 Cowardly Gurreck (3200 HAM).

I can't wait to get a better feel for the cloning system, and start making some really nice non-CH pets to experiment with. I've already had several non-CH from my guild ask me about making them pets to replace their newly acquired Minor Sludge Panthers.

My only complaint is that at Engineering Techniques 1, most of my experimentations are Failures or moderate successes, that's with a +12 crafting tool standing in front of my +43 private crafting station. I guess I'll need to go up the Eng Tech tree before I can expect any decent experimentation results. I'm from the Artisan realm, where anything other than a Great Success or Amazing Success really means a failure, because you're just not getting as good as you can get. I thought I read on another post here that experimentation on the DNA templates seems to be bugged, or that no one really understands how it works. I'll be eagerly following the threads here, hoping that either a dev speaks up or someone figures out what's going on and comes up with a little hint guide.

Ok, I'm not a Creature Handler and I probably wont get it. But, I did like my little Rock Beetle I had before this last patch. Now, I no longer have it, and what I was given was crap, so, I deleted it. Since Creature Handlers are suppose to know the creatures , I decided to see what is the best creature out there for a non-Creature Handler. Thank you.

Since no one has responded i'll chime in to keep your post going...

I would think your best bet know is just to check with any Bio Engineers you see around and find out the best non -ch pet they've made. From what i've seen all the wild non ch pets pretty much such now. Though there's plenty of non ch pets i haven't seen.
