in order to get survey xp you have to sample for whatever reason you couldnt sample where you were proboly on the side of a mountain or very rocky area. as for the craftin xp sometimes the xp doesnt show until after you log.

Crafting camp kits gives you survival xp, not crafting xp.

In general, to earn xp for a crafting profession you have to make items you learned in that profession. Camps are a Scout schematic, so give xp that scouts use. Starting out as artisan, make crafting and survey tools. The xp you earn is pretty closely tied to the number of resources used up in the item (usually xp = 2x resources) so the more resources you use the more xp you get for the item.

Survey xp is earned by sampling and actually digging something up. In general, the larger the stack of resources you find, the more xp you get. Depending on your survey skill, there is a minimum concentration percentage you'll be able to pull anything up at. I think at Novice it's around 15-20%. If you're standing on a spot with a lower concentration than that you'll get a message like "you find only trace amounts" and stop sampling. After using the survey tool, it will activate a waypoint on the highest concentration in your range. Move to that point and survey again, getting a waypoint to an even higher concentration. Follow this "vein" of material until the map part of the survey tool shows you've gotten to a 50-60% spot and start sampling. Chemicals are good resources to go after for sampling xp, since they tend to have higher concentrations. Ore is bad, I've only seen an ore spot higher than 60% once.

Good luck. If you have some more questions, try the "Artisan FAQ" at the top of the page, and if it's not there (or if the info looks outdated, it is a little old) just post.

Is it the crafter's apron schematic? If so, then it gives bonuses to a specific crafting profession (but you don't know which until you learn it).

I have made that same apron and I am going to say yes it is only good for the armor pieces as I don't think there is anythign else we experiment in. I am not sure if it makes a difference on anything else. But I am VERY new to this profession, so I could be wrong.

It has cloting assembly and clothing experimentation +5 and I threw in wound/injury +15 for the smell of it but it still is a bit strange to me.

From what I understand, even with the apron and +5 (or +15) added to that, you don't get the extra 1 (2) experimentation point you are supposed to get. It looks like tailor experimentation was kind of kludged in for the wookiee pillow and it doesn't quite work the way it is supposed to. I still wear it for the assembly bonus when I am making loot schematics, though. Anything that might prevent a critical failure is good!

You are supposed to get the extra experimentation point when you have +10 to experimentation. Please let me know if this isn't working properly.

I will try to test it tonight. I am just going by all of the reports I hear (I have heard it from a few people now). I can make absolutely sure, though.

I think the socketing issue and the top 5 overshadowed any problems we may have had with the wookiee pillows. This is the first I've heard of it (but it's entirely possible you all reported it earlier, and it got lost in the wookiee pillow and socketing issues).

I'm on it.

been playing 2 days with about 3 - 4 hours hunting time and one failed mission.

Grouped with another player and got a few mission to trade. He wanted to duel, and I acceped. We fought twice and I won both times. He is a scout brawler with armor, I am a novice sout and marksman no armor.

Why was I able to defeat him? I used overpower shot and point blank shot on him. Do out trades conflict, marksman - brawler?

After I won he started calling me a lier, gay and a few more choice words. Also before we dueled he gave a rifle, that is the only non-newb equipment I had. Woundering if its because I'm new that he couldn't kill me easily.

Would like it if someone could tell me why this happened. tks

You won because you outdamaged him.

Can't really say how you won unless you get more specific. What weapon were you using. What weapon was he using? What kind of armor did he have on? What level Marksman are you? What level Brawler was he?

Scout level makes no difference because you don't get any combat (PvP) skills with that tree.
